1 Introduction
TheMETTERTOLEDOInTrac

7XXretractablehousingsare
intended for use in conjunction with specied METTLER
TOLEDOelectrodes/sensors,namelypHandredox(ORP)
combinationelectrodesaswellasdissolvedoxygen(DO),
CO
2
,conductivityorturbiditysensors.Pleasereadthrough
thisquickset-upguideandtheoperatinginstructionscare-
fullybeforecommissioning,inordertoensuretrouble-free
use.Operatingandmaintenanceshouldbecarriedoutonly
bytrainedpersonnelandstaffwhohavereadandunder-
stoodtheoperatinginstructions.
2 Safety instructions

Notice: Before every start-up,the housing must be
checkedfor:
– Damagetotheconnections,fastenings,etc.
– Leakage
– Perfectfunctioning
– Authorizationforuseinconjunctionwithotherplant
equipmentandresources.

Notice: The manufacturer/supplier accepts no re-
sponsibilityforanydamagecausedbyunauthorized
attachments or for the incorporation of spare parts
whicharenotofMETTLERTOLEDOprovenance.The
riskisborneentirelybytheoperator.

Caution:Beforethehousingisputintooperation,the
operatormusthavealreadyclariedthatuseofthe
sensorinconjunctionwiththeotherassociatedequip-
mentandresourcesisfullyauthorized.

Caution:Adefectivehousingmayneitherbeinstalled
norputintooperation.Faultycontainmentorinstalla-
tionoutofconformancewithregulationsandinstruc-
tionscanleadtotheescapeofmediumortopressure
surges (explosion),potentially harmful both to per-
sonsandtotheenvironment.

Caution:Theelectrodeorsensormayonlyberemoved
fromamountedretractablehousingwhenthisisinthe
“service”(retracted/withdrawn)position,sinceifthe
electrode/sensor ismissing fromthe housingthere
willbeapathfortheprocessmediumtoescapetothe
environment. This can endanger personnel and
caused damage to materials and the environment.

lifethroughpoisoning,chemicalburnsorscalding.

Caution:Ifanelectrode/sensorisbrokenitmustbe
replacedimmediately.

Warning: Before dismantling the housing or com-
mencinganymaintenanceworkonit,ensurethatthe
equipmentinwhichthehousingisinstalledisinasafe
condition (depressurize, no explosion risk, empty,
rinse,vent,etc.).

4 Installation and commissioning
1. While unpacking, check the housing for mechanical
damage.Pleaseimmediatelyreportanydamagetoyour
localMETTLERTOLEDOrepresentative.
2. Ensurethehousingisfullyretractedandinthe“service”
position.
3.Isolate the pipe/tank/vessel etc. from the housing
(depressurize,empty,rinse,purgeandvent,etc.)before
startinganyinstallationwork.
4. Fitthehousingtoange/NPTthreadofprocessconnec-
tion.
5. Adjusttheelectrode/sensorprotectivecage(InTrac781/
784housingsonly).
6.Attachtheushinglines(ifapplicable)andcompressed
airlines(forInTrac7XXpneumaticoperationonly).
7. Fit the electrode/sensor to the housing and connect
the electrode/sensor and the transmitter with corre-
spondingcable.
8.Movethehousinginsertionrodintooperation(“measure”
position).

5 Operation: Inspection work
1. Visuallycheckfastenings(ringnut,ange,NPTthread)
ofthehousingattheprocessconnectionforrmsealing
andleaks.
2. Check the housing inspection window for leakage
(InTrac781/784housingsonly).
3.Ifnecessary,checktheconditionoftheelectrode/sensor
(refertosensorinstructionmanualforcleaningandcali-
brationprocedures).
4. Calibrate/cleantheelectrode/sensorifnecessary(refer
tosensorandtransmitterinstructionmanuals).
6 Maintenance
1. Ensurethehousingisfullyretractedandinthe“service”
position.
2. Isolatethepipe/tank/vesseletc.fromthehousing(de-
pressurize,empty,rinse,purgeandvent,etc.).
3.Removethesensorfromthehousing.
4. Removetheretractablehousingfromthepipe/tank/ves-
seletc.(ifchangingofhousingsealisneeded).
5. Changethehousingseal.
6.Calibrate/clean the electrode/sensor with reference to
sensorandtransmitterinstructionmanuals.
7. Followtheinstallationandcommissioningprocedure.
7 Disposal
Itistheuser’sresponsibilitytodisposeofthehous-
ing in a professional manner. The housing may
containelectroniccomponents(inductiveposition
indicator)thatrequirecorrectdisposalsuchthatno
personsortheenvironmentareendangered.
8 Warranty
Onmanufacturingdefects,12monthsafterdelivery.
9 Storage conditions
Werecommendedfollowingtheshutdownprocedureasde-
scribedinthehousinginstructionmanual.Thecleanedand
driedhousingshouldbestoredatroomtemperature.
10 EC Declaration of Conformity
Thecompletedeclarationisavailableinthedeclarationof
conformitycerticate.
