Um die Szenerie „Chania/Ioannis Daskalogiannis Airport“ möglichst

störungsfrei anﬂiegen zu können, benötigen Sie:

Installation

Sie müssen als Administrator angemeldet sein, bevor Sie mit der Installati-

on von „Chania/Ioannis Daskalogiannis Airport“ beginnen können.

Um die Installation zu beginnen, starten Sie einfach die Download-

Datei. Nach der Sprachauswahl erscheinen zunächst einige Informati-

onen und die Lizenzbedingungen. Lesen Sie sich die Informationen

bitte sorgfältig durch und klicken Sie dann auf „Weiter“. Anschlie-

ßend werden Sie zur Eingabe Ihrer E-Mail-Adresse und des Produkt-

Keys aufgefordert. Bitte geben Sie diese Daten genauso ein, wie sie in

Danach wird das Installationsverzeichnis (Verzeichnis von Prepar3D)

automatisch gesucht und überprüft. Sollte die Installationsroutine das

Prepar3D-Verzeichnis nicht ﬁnden oder Sie ein anderes Verzeichnis

auswählen wollen, so können Sie dieses über den „Durchsuchen”-

Button festlegen.

Die Installationsroutine kopiert nun im Einzelnen die Daten der

Szenerie „Chania/Ioannis Daskalogiannis Airport“ in das Zielverzeich-

nis und meldet die Szenerie in der Szeneriebibliothek an.

Technische Hinweise

Der Avatar Frank

Wenn Sie Prepar3D V3 (oder neuer) nutzen, können Sie Frank,

unseren Piloten, als Avatar benutzen (siehe die P3D-Dokumentation

für Informationen zu Avataren). Wenn Sie ein Flugzeug auswählen,

können Sie den Avatar mitladen lassen. Frank kann mit jedem

Flugzeug geladen werden. Er kann stillstehen, gehen, rennen, in die

Hocke gehen, gehockt gehen, wieder aufstehen, springen, schwim-

men und fallen; all dies über die normale P3D-Steuerung. Um den

Avatar erscheinen zu lassen, nutzen Sie den Befehl [Umsch]+[Strg]+[E]

in einer Außenansicht eines Flugzeugs oder Fahrzeugs. Sie können

den Avatar dann nutzen, um die Szenerie zu erkunden.

Einstellungen

Um Ihre Szenerieeinstellungen anzupassen, starten Sie zunächst P3D

V4 und öffnen Sie Optionen – Graﬁk.

Beachten Sie, dass diese Einstellungen die Qualität der Szenerie beeinﬂus-

sen. Je höher die Einstellungen, desto mehr Details sind sichtbar.

Die Szenerie ist so entwickelt, dass sie einen geringen Einﬂuss auf die

Framerate hat. Die Gesamtperformance kann allerdings sinken, wenn

Sie höhere Einstellungen auswählen – je nach Ihrem PC-System.

Die folgenden Einstellungen sind für ein besseres Erscheinungsbild

empfohlen.

Die Szenerie nutzt einige 2048x2048-Texturen. Stellen Sie die folgende

(oder höhere) Texturauﬂösung ein. Wenn eine niedrige Auﬂösung

ausgewählt ist, werden einige Texturen leicht unscharf dargestellt.

Das Szeneriegebiet verfügt über Terrain-Mesh-Verbesserungen. Je

höher die Meshauﬂösung eingestellt ist, desto besser die Optik.

Außerdem wurde das Mesh angepasst, um den Höhenunterschied

zwischen Vorfeld und Fahrzeugparkplatz sowie den Wasserﬂächen

zwischen Vorfeld und Haupt-Taxiway korrekt darzustellen. Bei einer

niedrigeren Einstellung können Sie kleine weiße Flächen im Wasser

erkennen.

P3D V4 nutzt eine neue Methode, um eigene Bodenpolygone wie

Runways, Taxiways, Vorfelder, Linien etc. darzustellen. Wenn Sie

auswählen, dass Simulatorobjekte Schatten werfen können (cast

shadows), müssen sie auch beschattet werden (receive shadows),

damit sie über eigenen Bodenpolygonen dargestellt werden.

Konﬁgurationstool

Das Konﬁgurationstool, das mit dieser Szenerie installiert wird

(LGSAconﬁg.exe), ermöglicht Ihnen, die folgenden Einstellungen

bezüglich Umwelt, Prepar3D und Performance anzupassen.

• Dynamic Apron Lights or custom ground/FX Lighting.

Wenn Sie dynamische Beleuchtung nicht nutzen, wählen Sie

custom ground/FX Lighting, damit das Vorfeld bei Nacht

beleuchtet wird.

• Apron animated vehicles ein oder aus.

• 3D Grass. Sie können zwischen vollem, teilweisem oder

keinem 3D-Gras wählen.

• Halo effects. Sie können alle Lichtkränze außerhalb des

Vorfeldbereichs ein- oder ausschalten. Die Halo-Effekte auf

dem Vorfeld bleiben in jedem Fall erhalten.

• Animated Windsocks. Sie können zwischen SODE-animier-

ten oder Standard-P3D-Windsäcken wählen.

• Default or FLAi AI trafﬁc. Sie können zwischen Standard-,

FLAi- oder keinem AI-Trafﬁc

Der Flughafen

Geschichte

Der internationale Flughafen Chania (ICAO: LGSA, IATA: CHQ)

beﬁndet sich im Westen Kretas. Er liegt 14 km nordöstlich der Stadt

Chania auf der Akrotiri-Halbinsel.

Er ist benannt nach Ioannis Daskalogiannis, dem Anführer der

Revolution in der Sfakia-Region 1770.

Das erste Passagierterminal wurde 1967 gebaut; 1974 landete der

erste internationale Flug hier. Das derzeitige Terminal wurde 2005

gebaut und erhielt sein heutiges Layout im Jahr 2018. Das alte

Terminal (in der Szenerie dargestellt) bleibt in Betrieb (westlich des

heute genutzten) und wird teilweise von den Flughafendiensten

genutzt.

Im Herbst 2018 wurde ein neues Vorfeldlayout mit mehr Flugzeug-

parkpositionen, die Pushback benötigen, gebaut. Dies ist das Layout,

das in dieser Szenerie dargestellt wird.

AEGEAN Airlines, Olympic Air und Sky Express ﬂiegen das ganze Jahr

über täglich vom und zu dem internationalen Flughafen Athen (LGAV/

ATH).

AEGEAN Airlines und Olympic Air ﬂiegen ebenfalls das Jahr über vom/

zum internationalen Flughafen Thessaloniki (LGTS/SKG).

Ryanair ﬂiegt das Jahr über vom/zum internationalen Flughafen

Paphos (LCPH/PFO).

Im Sommer fertigt der Flughafen mehr als einhundert Flüge pro Tag

ab, die meisten aus Nordeuropa und Skandinavien. Die häuﬁgsten

Airlines sind TUI ﬂy, FINNAIR, SAS, Thomas Cook, Norwegian, Ryanair,

British Airways, Jet2, Condor, Eurowings, EasyJet und Smartwings.

Wie häuﬁgsten Flugzeuge, die hier landen, sind Airbus A319/A320/

A321/A330, Boeing B737 (alle Versionen)/B757/B767/B787. Die

Passagierzahlen erreichten 2018 die Marke von 3.000.000.

Der Flughafen verfügt über eine einzige, 3348 m / 10982 ft lange

Asphalt-Landebahn, bezeichnet 11/29. Sie kann Flugzeuge bis zu

einer Boeing 747, C-5 Galaxy und Antonov AN-124.

Starting Off

System Requirements

In order for the scenery “Chania/Ioannis Daskalogiannis Airport” to

run as smoothly as possible, you need the following:

• Lockheed Martin Prepar3D V4

Installation

You have to be logged in with administrator rights before you can

start the installation of “Chania/Ioannis Daskalogiannis Airport”.

To start the installation simply run the ﬁle you downloaded from your

shop account. After you have chosen your preferred installation

language, you will be presented with some important information

and the license agreement. Please read it carefully and click on

“Continue”. You will then be asked to insert your email address and

your registration key. Please insert it exactly the way it was written in

the conﬁrmation mail you received from your download shop.

The installation program will attempt to locate the correct Prepar3D

installation path. If the program cannot ﬁnd it or if you wish to install

to another location, then you can click on “Browse” and navigate to

the correct path.

The installation program will now copy all of the “Chania/Ioannis

Daskalogiannis Airport” ﬁles onto your hard disk and add the scenery

to the scenery library.

Removing

In order to fully remove “Chania/Ioannis Daskalogiannis Airport” click

the Windows Start button and open the Control Panel. Go to

“Programs” or “Programs and Features” and select the scenery. Click

on the “Uninstall” button. The installation program will start to

remove the program from your hard disk.

Technical Advice

The Avatar Frank

In Prepar3D V3 (or later) you will be able to use Frank, our pilot, as

the avatar (see the P3D documentation about information on avatars).

When selecting an aircraft, you can also select the avatar to be

loaded. You can load Frank with any aircraft. He is able to stand idle,

walk, run, stand to crouch, walk while crouching, crouch to stand,

jump, swim and fall, all using the default P3D commands. To spawn

the avatar, go to any external view of an aircraft or vehicle and use

the [Shift]-[Ctrl]-[E] command. You can then use the avatar to explore

the scenery.

Settings

In order to change your scenery settings, ﬁrst run P3D V4 and then go

to Options – Graphics.

Note that these settings will inﬂuence the quality of the scenery. The

higher the settings the more details will be visible.

The scenery is designed with high priority to minimize frame rate

impact. However, overall performance might decrease depending on

your PC system when higher settings are selected.

The following settings are recommended for a better visual result.

The scenery uses some 2048x2048 textures. Use the following (or

higher) setting in texture resolution. If a lower setting is selected some

textures will be slightly blurry.

There is a terrain mesh improvement in the scenery area. The higher

the mesh resolution setting the better result you will get. Apart from

that, mesh has been edited to correctly represent the elevation

difference between apron and vehicle’s parking area and the water

wells between apron and main taxiway. Those two last additions need

a 5 m or higher Mesh resolution setting to be shown correctly. If a

lower setting is used, you may notice some small white surfaces inside

the water wells.

P3D V4 uses a new method to depict custom ground polygons like

runways, taxiways, aprons, lines etc. If you select simulator objects to

“cast shadows” you must also select “receive shadows” for them to

be shown over custom ground polygons.

Conﬁguration Tool

The conﬁguration Tool that is installed with this scenery (LGSAconﬁg.

exe) allows you to conﬁgure the following settings related to environ-

ment, P3D settings and performance.

• Dynamic Apron Lights or custom ground/FX Lighting. If

you do not use dynamic lighting in P3DV4 select custom

ground/FX Lighting so that the Apron is lightened in night.

• Apron animated vehicles on or off.

• 3D Grass. You can select to have full, medium or no 3D Grass.

• Halo effects. You can select to turn on or off all the halo

effects outside the apron area. Main apron lights halo effect

will remain with either selection.

• Animated Windsocks. You can select animated SODE

windsocks or the default P3D windsocks with this selection.

• Default or FLAi AI trafﬁc. You can select the default, FLAi or

no AI trafﬁc

Compatibility with other add-ons

The scenery has been tested

with ORBX Global Base

pack, ORBX Global Vector

and ORBX Land class

Europe. You can select this

through the conﬁg tool.

If ORBX Global Vector is

installed, you must re-run its

auto conﬁguration tool

after installing this scenery

and conﬁrm that LGSA can

be found under AEC IS

DISABLED FOR. If the airport

is not there after running

the auto conﬁguration tool

add it manually following these steps:

• Go to Manual Conﬁguration at AEC IS ENABLED FOR and type

LGSA

• Press Disable > >

• Conﬁrm that LGSA has been moved in the AEC IS DISABLED

FOR box.

• Click Apply and then Exit

The Airport

History

Chania, Crete International Airport (ICAO: LGSA, IATA: CHQ) is found

in western Crete. It is located 14 km north-east of the city of Chania,

in the Akrotiri peninsula.

It is named after Ioannis Daskalogiannis, the leader of the revolution

of the Sfakia region in 1770.

The ﬁrst passenger terminal was constructed in 1967 and in 1974 the

ﬁrst international ﬂight landed there. The current terminal was

constructed in 2005 and received its present layout in 2018. The old

terminal (depicted in the scenery) remains in position (western from

the one now in use) and is partially used by the airport’s services.

During the autumn of 2018 a new apron layout was built, with more

aircraft parking positions (twenty-ﬁve instead of nine) requiring

pushback. This is the layout depicted in this scenery.

AEGEAN Airlines, Olympic Air and Sky Express ﬂy from and to Athens

International Airport (LGAV/ATH) every day throughout the year.

AEGEAN Airlines and Olympic Air ﬂy from/to Thessaloniki Internatio-

nal Airport (LGTS/SKG) also throughout the year.

Ryanair ﬂies from/to Paphos International Airport (LCPH/PFO) throug-

hout the year.

During summer the airport receives more than one hundred ﬂights

per day mostly from northern Europe and Scandinavia. Most common

airlines are TUI ﬂy, FINNAIR, SAS, Thomas Cook, Norwegian, Ryanair,

British Airways, Jet2, Condor, Eurowings, EasyJet, and Smartwings.

Most common aircrafts operating here are Airbus A319/A320/A321/

A330, Boeing B737(all versions)/B757/B767/B787. The passenger

trafﬁc reached 3.000.000 in 2018.

The airport has a single, 3.348 m / 10.982 ft long asphalt runway,
