Assembly
Your Park Bench will require complete assembly prior to use. It is important that you read the
entire manual to become familiar with the product BEFORE you use the Park Bench. Before
assembling the Park Bench be sure that you have all parts described in the Parts List and
Assembly Diagram located on the last pages of this manual.
1. Set both Cast Iron Sides (5) down on your work surface. Each Cast Iron Side (5) has
5 tabs for the Seat Slats (8). Make certain that these tabs face inward-see Figure 1.
Figure 1
2. Set each of the four (4) similar Seat Slats (8) on top of corresponding tabs on each
Cast Iron Side (5). The fifth Seat Slat (8) has a rounded edge. Make certain to
place this Seat Slat (8) farthest from the back of the Bench. This is the Seat Slat (8)
that your knee bends over when you are sitting on the Bench.
3. Insert a Brass Bolt (7) down through the Seat Slat (8) and tab and thread on Nut (7).
Repeat for the remaining tabs.
4. Attach the Slat Brace (6) to all five (5) Seat Slats (8). Measure out to the
center of the Seat Slats and make a mark. Pilot holes will have to be drilled
(recommended 5/32” diameter) into the underside of the Seat Slats (8).
Warning: Do not drill through the slat, drill only deep enought to insert the screws.
Place the Slat Brace (6) so that it intersects the five Seat Slats (8) as in Figure 2.
Secure the Slat Brace (6) in place with five Wood Screws (9).
5. Find the Backside Top Slat (2), which has a rounded edge, and has pilot holes
drilled for inserting the Cast Iron Backrest (1). Position this slat with the rounded
edge up and toward the front, and the pilot holes toward the rear. Install it using
Brass Bolts and Nuts (7), in the same way as the Seat Slats (8).
6. Find the Backside Bottom Slat (3), and install it with the pilot holes on the
upper rear edge. Install it with Brass Bolts and Nuts (7).
NOTE: Do not fully tighten all hardware until assembly is completed.

7. Lay the Park Bench forward, with the back of the backrest facing upward. Place the Cast Iron
Backrest (1) into the back, with the flanges contacting the top and bottom backside slats.
Check to be sure the pilot holes in the backside slats are aligned with the holes in the flanges
of the Cast Iron Backrest (1). If they are not, we recommend that you drill pilot holes for the
Wood Screws(9).
WARNING: Do not drill through the slat, drill only deep enough to insert the screws.
8. Install the Wood Screws (9) through the flanges in the Cast Iron Backrest (1) into the
Backside Top Slat (2) and Backside Bottom Slat (3). Set the bench upright.
9. Press the short Side Slats (4) into the back, on each side of the Cast Iron Backrest (1). Be
sure to align the recessed cut-outs with the flanges on the sides of the Cast Iron Backrest (1).
Secure these side slats in place with the remaining Wood Screws (9).
10. Place the Park Bench upright. Make certain that the Cast Iron Sides (5) are at
right angles to the floor and that the Seat Slats (8) are straight. Securely
tighten all hardware.
Maintenance
1. Keep the park bench wiped down and clean. If it is exposed to prolonged wet or corrosive
conditions, you may have to clean it thoroughly and apply a waterproofing sealer.
2. Do not use solvents or flammable materials to clean this park bench. A mild detergent in
water will be sufficient. Solvents may damage the paint; and possibly create fire hazard.
