F. Mobile Home Installation
Wheninstallingthisunitinamobilehome,severalrequirements
mustbefollowed:
1. Theunitmustbeboltedtotheoor.Thiscanbedoneusing
anappropriatefastenerfortheapplication.
2. The unit must be connected to an outside combustion
air inlet. Proper supports and spark arresters must be
considered when installing venting. See “Termination
LocationandVentInformation”SectionD.
3. Floorprotectionandclearancesmustbefollowedasshown.
4. Theappliancemustbeproperlygroundedtotheframeof
themobilehomeusingaminimumof8AWGcoppersolid
orstranded,insulatedorbarewireorequivalent.

of the unit. The oor protection should be ush with the
rear most edge of the unit, but does not need to extend

ambienttemperatureof70°F.Consultooringspecicationsto
ensurecompatibility.
HHTrecommendswoodstovesandinsertshave29inchesof

raisedhearth.

NOTICE: Clearances that do not meet the minimum guidelines
couldresultindamageorbucklingtothevinylooringandis
done at the installer’s risk.

#1 Preferred method (Figure 4.1)
Thismethodprovidesexcellentventingfornormaloperation
andallowsthestovetobeinstalledclosesttothewall.Two
inches from the wall is safe; however, four inches allows
betteraccesstoremovetherearpanel.Theverticalportionof
theventshouldbethreetovefeethigh.Thisverticalsection
willhelpprovidenaturaldraftintheeventofapowerfailure.
Note: Do not place joints within wall pass-through.
THE CHIMNEY MUST BE OF A TYPE SUITABLE FOR
SOLID-FUEL BURNING.
#2 Preferred method (Figure 4.2)
This method also provides excellent venting for normal
operationbutrequiresthestovetobeinstalledfartherfrom
thewall.Theverticalportionoftheventshouldbethreeto
vefeethighandatleast1”fromacombustiblewall.This
vertical section will provide natural draft in the event of a
powerfailure.
If the stove is installed below grade be sure the vent
termination is at least 12" above grade (with outside air
only). The outlet must also be 12” from the house/building.
Note: Do not place joints within wall pass-through.

When the appliance is roof vented: The air intake is best

Draftisthepressuredierenceneededtoventappliances
successfully.Whenanapplianceisdraftingsuccessfully,all
combustion byproducts are exiting the home through the
chimney.
Considerationsforsuccessfuldraftinclude:

H. Avoiding Smoke and Odors
Negative Pressure, Shut-down, and Power Failure:
To reduce the probability of back-drafting or burn-back in
the pellet burning appliance during power failure or shut-
down conditions, the stove must be able to draft naturally
withoutexhaustbloweroperation.Negativepressureinthe
housewillresistthisnaturaldraftifnotaccountedforinthe
pelletapplianceinstallation.
Heatrisesinthehouseandleaksoutatupperlevels.This
airmustbereplacedwithcoldairfromoutdoors,whichows
into lower levels of the house. Vents and chimneys into
basementsandlowerlevelsofthehousecanbecomethe
conduitforairsupply,andreverseundertheseconditions.
Outside Air
Anoutsideairkit is recommendedin all installations.The
OutsideAirKitmustbeorderedseparately.

House demand may consume the air needed for the
appliance.Itmaybenecessarytoaddadditionalventilation
tothespaceinwhichthepelletapplianceislocated.
ConsultwithyourlocalHVACprofessionaltodeterminethe
ventilationdemandsforyourhouse.
Vent Pipe
Besure touseapproved pelletvent pipe walland ceiling
pass-throughttingstogothroughcombustiblewallsand
ceilings.Besuretouseastartingcollartoattachtheventing
systemtothestove.Thestartingcollarmustbesecuredto
theuestubwithatleastthreescrews,andsealedwithhigh
tempsiliconecaulking.

inmasonryreplacesandchimneysorfactorybuiltwood-
burningreplaceswithclassAmetalchimneys.
Pelletventpipeisconstructedoftwolayerswithairspace
betweenthelayers.Thisairspaceactsasaninsulatorand
reducestheoutsidesurfacetemperaturetoallowaclearance
to combustibles of only 1 inch. The sections of pipe lock
togethertoformanairtightsealinmostcases;however,in
somecasesaperfectsealisnotachieved.Forthisreason
and the fact that theAbsolute63 operates with a positive
ventpressure,wespecifythatthejointsalsobesealedwith
siliconeoraluminumtapeinadditiontothesealingsystem
usedbythemanufacturer.
Wherepassingthroughanexteriorwallorroof,usesilicone
tomaintainaneectivevaporbarrieratthelocationwhere
thechimneyorcomponentpenetratestotheexteriorofthe
structure.
Vent Congurations:
To reduce probability of reverse drafting during shut-
down conditions, Hearth & Home Technologies strongly
recommends:
• Installingthepelletventwithaminimumverticalrunof
vefeet.
• Installingoutsideair.
Topreventsootdamagetoexteriorwallsofthehouseand
topreventre-entryofsootorashintothehouse:
• Maintainspeciedclearancestowindows,doors,andair
inlets,includingairconditioners.
• Ventsshouldnotbeplacedbelowventilatedsots.Run
theventabovetheroof.
• Avoidventingintoalcovelocations.
• Ventsshouldnot terminateunder overhangs, decksor
ontocoveredporches.
Maintain minimum clearance of 12 inches from the
ventterminationtotheexteriorwall.Ifyouseedeposits
developing on the wall, you may need to extend this
distancetoaccommodateyourinstallationconditions.
