3 Third party climate controller requirements
Technical interface requirements for replacing existing fans and interfacing to DA 1700 / BF 50 via DOL
35.
Any third party controller/system is not by default supported by DOL 35 following points must be considered
and validated, before it can be guaranteed that a specific third party system/controller is supported.
Third party controller requirements
Third party controller must use relays to control fans (not variable speed control)
DOL 35 principle overview
DOL 35 detects the relays from 1 => max. number of inputs and maps this to Dynamic MultiStep.
HW interface requirements
The relay contacts must be potential free (dry contact), as shown on
Figure 1 and must not be connected to 24 V, 115 V-AC or 230 V-AC.
The relays must have the NO contacts connected to the terminal blocks, as
shown on Figure 1.
Every relay contact must be electrically separated from other relay
contacts, as shown on Figure 1.
Figure 1
Existing fan requirements
The DOL 35 converter supports 43 fan inputs at a maximum.
The installed input fans can have a maximum of 4 different capacities.

DOL 35 BlueBox Converter
The capacity of the fans being replaced must be a minimum of 30,000 m3/h (17600 CFM) (DOL 35
will not allow DA 1700 / BF 50 to go below 50 % performance due to pressure stability must be
maintained).
DA 1700 requirements
All installed wall fans must be of the same type. We do not support a mix of different types.
The installed DA 1700 wall fans must be LPC wall fans (supported types DA 1700-4, DA 1700-5 or
DA 1700-6).
The installed BF 50 wall fans must be LPC wall fans (supported types LE, HF with control method
variable ON/OFF).
Be aware of the following
The DOL 35 converter will always have a minimum ON time of the DA 1700 / BF 50 wall fan of 30
seconds.
Some third party controllers have surveillance on relay current to fans these must be disabled.
Adding ON/OFF fans will not give the amount of power saving pure LPC wall fans will give.
The negative pressure provided by each size of the replaced fans must be known and recorded. This
information is mandatory during setup of the DA 1700 / BF 50 LPC wall fans when using the setup
wizard.
o Should the DOL 35 + DA 1700 / BF 50 LPC wall fans be used in a new house where no fans earlier
have been installed, it is recommended that all steps from the third party controller is defined to
30.000 m3/h (17600 CFM).
Principle drawing of legal setups, using DOL 35 and DA 1700 wall fans
If DA 1700-7 or DA 1700-8 ON/OFF fans are to be used, they must be connected to a third party controller.

4 Mounting guide
4.1 Mounting of converter and extension boxes
1) Remove the number of knock-out pieces in the cabinet base needed for power, analogue signals and
outputs to the wall fans.
Remember to use M25 glands in order to obtain a tight cable connection.
2) Place the converter with the display (A) at eye level for the daily user.
3) Remember to allow for the following clearance around the cabinet:
• 43 cm (B) so that the front panel can be placed on top of the cabinet base during servicing.
• 10 cm (C) at the bottom.
• 5 cm (D) at the sides.
4) Remove knock-out pieces from the outside with a hammer and screwdriver.
5) Mount the enclosed black rubber sleeve (E) for a watertight connection between the cabinets.
6) Mount the converter and extension box using Ø5 mm screws according to the distance measurements
in the drawing.
7) The distance between the converter and the first extension box can be increased to a maximum of 20
meters if there is not enough room on the same wall. The two extension boxes must be placed next to
each other. See paragraph 5.3.3 or 5.3.4 for more details.

5 Installation guide
5.1 Electrical connection
Qualified personnel in accordance with the applicable national and international standard EN
60204-1 and any other EU standards that are applicable in Europe must perform installation,
servicing and troubleshooting of all electrical equipment.
The installation of a power supply isolator is required for each motor and power supply to
facilitate voltage-free work on the electrical equipment. SKOV A/S does not supply the power
supply isolator.
5.2 Setting the supply voltage on the power supply
Before you connect the supply voltage, it is important to set the voltage in the converter and extension
boxes so that it corresponds to the voltage level in the local house.
200/-230 V Leave the plug in (factory setting)
100-115 V Move the plug to 100-115 V

5.4 Setting CAN addresses and CAN termination jumpers
Each I/O module must have a specific CAN address so that the controller can communicate with it. The
address of the individual module corresponds to the module number.
The modules are controlled via CAN bus communication. It is important that the CAN termination jumpers
are set correctly in order to achieve secure communication between the modules. On the module where
communication ends, the jumper must be ON.
This can be checked by measuring the resistance between CAN HI and CAN LO, BEFORE connecting to the
mains for the first time:
