Donotunpackthewaveguideassemblyuntilyouarereadytoinstallit.Thiswillpreventdamagetotheexternalthreadsonthebushing.
1. Preparetheshieldroomwallorthegroundplanebyboringmountingholes1‐9/32”(1.281”)diameterinthedesiredlocation.Any
adjacentholesshouldbenocloserthan2”,center‐to‐center.
2. Cleanandde‐burrtheareaaroundtheholestoensureelectricalcontactandatightsealwiththewaveguidemountingnuts.
3. Unpackthewaveguideassemblytakingcarenottodamagethethreadedbushing.
4. Loosenthe1/4”capscrewwhichretainsthepluginthebushing(approximately2turns).
5. Taptheendofthecapscrewuntiltheplugseparatesfromthebushing.
6. Removethecapscrewandthewasherandstoreinasafeplaceforfutureuse.
7. Removetheplugfromthebushing.Theplugisfastenedtooneofthemountingnutsbyashortcabletopreventdamagetoits
surfaceafterinstallationandtopreventinjuryduringsubsequentremoval.Itisnotnecessarytodisconnectthecablefromeither
themountingnutortheplug.
8. Removethefreemountingnutfromthebushing.
9. Threadtheextensiontubeontothewaveguideassembly,andadjustthedesiredspacingbetweenthemountingnutstoroughly
thethicknessofthewall.
10. Settheextensionlengthbyscrewingtheinternaljamnutintotheextensiontubeuntilsnugwiththewaveguidebushing.
11. Withoutchangingthepositionoftheinternaljamnut,removetheextensiontubefromthewaveguidebushing.
12. Placethebushingthroughthemountingholessothatthecableisfacingawayfromthemountingsurface.
13. Reassembletheextensionnutontheoppositesideofthemountingsurface.Tightenuntilthewaveguidebodyissnugagainstthe
internalbrassjamnut,andthentightenthemountingnutontheoppositesidetosnugagainstthewall.
14. Atthispoint,thewaveguideisinplacewiththeplughangingbyitscableononeside.Iftheinstallationappearstobeacceptable,
tightenthemountingnutwitha1‐1/2”socketwrenchtoamaximumtorqueof85foot‐poundsorthemaximumtorquethatthe
wallcanwithstandwithoutcrushing.
15. Installthefiberopticcablesbyinsertingtheconnectorsoneatatimethroughthecenterboreofthebushing,andthenpushthe
cablesintothegroovesaroundtheedges.Donotoverfillthewaveguidebores.
16. Inserttheplugintothecenterboretakingcarenottodamagethecables.Presstheplugfirmlytolockitinplace.
17. Installthecapscrewandwasherintotheplugcarefullysoasnottopushtheplugouttheotherside.
18. Torquethecapscrewto6foot‐pounds.
19. Plugmayberemovedfortheadditionorremovaloffiberopticcablesandthenreinstalledasrequired.
