Remove all the Phillips screws from the full length of the lock face plate along with any screws that may be in the
lock extensions. Retain these screws for installation of new lock.

• Loosen the torx20 (T20) screw at the top lock point of the new mechanism.
Install the new tailpiece into position (the tabs fit into the slot on the mechanism).
Tighten the T20 screw to secure the extension in place.
Connect the original lock extension to the new tailpiece.
Loosen this screw
2
Install New Lock
Insert new lock in to the original door slab machining and secure in place using the screws that were removed
from original lock. If the lock has extensions, ensure that all the locking points are fully in the unlocked position
prior to joining the toothed tail piece to the extension(s).
Do not over tighten screws.
Test new lock with the handle that has the spindle attached. If lock is working as expected re-install the trim set.
Trouble shooting the lock:
•Check again that all the lock pieces are completely in the neutral unlocked position before joining together.
•Do not over tighten face screws or trim set screws
•Lubricate the connections and older extension pieces where applicable
Install New Center Strike Plate
Remove original center strike plate
Lightly secure the new center strike plate to the original mortise location using the top and bottom screws until
the plate is held firmly in place.
Using the plate as a template, score a line with the utility knife at the bottom of the extended tongue where the
material needs to be removed.
o Inswing
Remove the strike plate and continues to score this slice down to a depth of 3/32”
Usie a chisel to remove this jamb material. Approximately ½“ x 3/8” x 3/32” of jamb material
o Outswing
Remove the strike plate and cut the aluminum down to a depth of 3/32”. Use a Dremel or osculating tool with a
metal cutting blade to cut the aluminum.
Use a sharp 1/2” chisel to cut through the face shoulder of the aluminum profile. A few good strikes at this
shoulder will cut this aluminum clean. Your chisel must be sharp!
Using 5/8” drill bit, elongate the spring latch route 3/8” downward or as required to allow the spring latch to fully
extend in to the jamb/astragal tongue.
Plug center screw hole with dowel
Install new center strike plate in the modified route. The plate should sit flush with the jamb. If not, remove plate
and route deeper.
Install the 3 screws that hold the plate in place.
