Before You Start
Thank you for the purchase of your EdgeConnect 2402LFPoE Managed
Ethernet Switch.
Please read this guide thoroughly as it describes how to initially connect
to your 2402 Switch. Please refer to the User Manual for instructions on
the physical installation and power requirements of the EdgeConnect
2402LFPoE Managed Switch. Additional information and help files
regarding the features of the 2402LFPoE Switch can be found by
accessing the “Support” link once connected to the appliance via your
web browser.
Requirements for Installation
A computer with a web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or
Netscape Navigator or any other browser of your choice, an available
Ethernet port, and an optional terminal emulation program if
connecting through the serial port.
At least one Ethernet cable.
An optional null-modem cable if connection through the console is
desired.
If uplink and downlink fiber connection is required, then 2 fiber cables
along with 2 Mini-GBIC SPF connectors
If uplink and downlink Ethernet connection is required then, 2 Ethernet
cables.

1. If an uplink connection to the WAN or another switch is desired, then connect the
10/100/1000 Mbps combo port 26 (denoted by “C” in the above figure) to a switch or
router through an Ethernet cable or through a fiber cable using Mini-GBIC SFP
connector.
2. Port 25 (denoted by “B” in the above figure) is an out of band 10/100/1000 Mbps
downlink port used for management purposes among other things.
3. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to port 24 (denoted by “A” in the above figure) of
the switch. Connect the other end to the Ethernet port on the computer that will be used
to configure the switch.
4. Plug the 3-prong grounded male plug into an AC outlet (100-240V, 47 to 63 HZ) and the
other end (3-pin Shroud male connector) into the power receptacle on 2402LFPoE
denoted by “E” in the above figure.

Step 2 Configuring 2402LFPoE through GUI
1. The EdgeConnect 2402LFPoE comes preconfigured with 192.168.1.254 local LAN
address with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Configure the IP address of the Ethernet
adapter of the computer connected to 2402LFPoE’s port 24 to any address other than
192.168.1.1 in the same subnet mask, for example 192.168.1.10.
2. Launch a web browser on the PC and enter the following URL:
http://192.168.1.254 and
press Enter.
3. The following initial 2402 POE Switch main configuration menu should appears:
4. Enter “admin” in the “User name” and “Password” fields and click on the “OK” button.
5. The web page shown in the figure below should appear next.

6. Continue configuring the switch using the “Configuration Menu” on the left side of the
web page and by referring to the user manual of the device.
Configuring 2404PoE through the console port
1. Connect one end of a null-modem cable to the serial port of the computer and the other
end to the console port of 2404PoE.
2. Configure the terminal emulation program to use:
a. Data bits: 8
b. Parity: none
c. Stop bit: 1
d. Flow control: none
e. Baud rate: 9600
3. Press the return key and the following text should appear:
