1. Signal Strength
Shows you the strength of the signal. Three bars or more should
give good reception.
2. DAB / FM
Indicates that the radio is currently set to receive DAB / FM signal.
3. Favourite Display
The tick symbol indicates that the station playing is saved as a
Favourite. The heart symbol shows when Favourite tuning mode
is selected.
4. Volume Level / Mute
• More bars show as the volume level increases.
• Mute icon will ash when the sound is muted.
5. Battery Display
The level inside the battery symbol will drop as the batteries run
down.
6. Text Display
Area for displaying station names, frequencies or menu options.

Battery Installation
1. Slide the back cover to open the battery
compartment of the remote control.
2. Insert two AAA size batteries. Make sure to
match the (+) and ( - ) ends of the batteries
with the (+) and ( - ) ends indicated in the
battery compartment.
3. Close the battery compartment cover.

Knowing When to Replace the Batteries
• When the batteries lose power, the sound becomes weak and
distorted.
• When “ ” appears, replace all the batteries with new ones. After
the batteries have been replaced, press and hold the button to
turn the unit o.

Handling the Batteries
• Improper or incorrect use of batteries may cause corrosion or
battery leakage, which could cause personal injury or damage
to property.
• Install the batteries correctly by following the polarity (+ and –)
indications in the battery compartment.
• Use only the types of the batteries which are indicated in this
manual.
• Do not install new batteries with used ones and do not mix
dierent types of batteries.
• Do not dispose of the used batteries as domestic waste. Dispose
of them in accordance with local regulations.
• If you are not going to use the unit for a long time, remove the
batteries to avoid damage from battery leakage and corrosion.
• Do not take more than 1 minutes to replace the batteries,
otherwise the clock, any lists of receivable broadcasts for DAB
scan, preset favourite services and all settings will be initialized.
Should that happen, set the functions again.
• If the batteries are replaced while the power is on, the unit may
revert to the factory setting.
• Due to the short battery life span of some alkaline batteries. It is
recommended to use rechargeable batteries. You will need to
purchase a charger to charge the rechargeable batteries. This
saves cost and is more environmentally friendly.
Handling the unit
• Take care of your ngernails when you press and hold the
battery release tab.
• Do not drop or cause impact to the unit.
• Do not spill water or any liquid on the unit.
• Do not place the unit on a wet object.
• Do not place the battery under direct sunlight or near sources
of excessive heat.
• Remove the battery from the unit when not in use for a long
period of time, as it could cause corrosion or battery leakage
and may result in physical injury and/or property damage
including re.

Basic Operation
Connecting the Earphones
Before switching on the unit, connect the
earphones to the earphones socket. The
earphones cable is used as an aerial for radio
reception and will function correctly when you
are wearing the earphones.
Powering ON/OFF
• Press and hold the button to turn the unit on.
“WELCOME” will display on the screen.
• Press and hold the button again to turn the unit o.
First Time Use
When you switch on the unit for the rst time, it will automatically
enter the DAB mode and start the auto tune quick scan for DAB
stations. During the scan, a list of available station names will be
stored in the memory of the unit (refer to DAB Scan on page 10 and 14
for details). When the scan is completed, the unit will then start to play
the rst station in alphanumeric sequence.
Adjusting Volume
• Press the buttons to increase/decrease the volume. The volume
display will change to indicate the level set.
• Press the button to mute the sound. The indicator will ash
on the display. Press the button again or the button to resume
the audio listening.
Selecting Modes
Press and hold the Menu button to switch between modes (DAB
or FM).

DAB Operation
To listen to the tuned stations press the buttons. Each time you
press the buttons, you will skip to the previous or next stored
station. The unit will display the station name.
Memory
When you power up the unit again, the unit plays the same mode and
station (DAB or FM) as the last operation.
DAB Scan
The DAB Scan option enables you to scan the DAB band for new
stations.
1. Press the Menu button to display the Setting menu.
2. Press the buttons repeatedly and then press the button to
select “DAB Scan”.
3. The unit will scan each channel for stations. If stations are found
within a channel then the total number of stations found will be
displayed before the next channel is scanned. If no stations are
found the “Station Not Available” will display on the screen.
Before starting a scan, ensure that the earphones are
connected to the unit and in the listening position as the
earphone cable is used as the aerial.

FM Operation
Switching from DAB to FM Mode
In order to switch the unit from DAB to FM mode, press and hold the
Menu button.
The FM tuning frequency or the RDS station name (if available) will be
displayed when FM is set and a station is tuned.
Auto Scan
To search for an FM station, press and hold the buttons to skip
up / down to the next station in the band. Once a station has been
found, the scanning will stop automatically.
Manual Scan
To search FM stations manually, simply press the buttons
repeatedly until your desired frequency is reached.
Scanning for a station will cancel Favourite Tuning mode,
when set.

Setting Favourite Stations
Saving Favourite DAB / FM Stations
This function will enable you to access your favourite stations quickly
and easily.
To store a preset, you must rst tune to the station that you would like
to save. Press and hold the button. The station will be saved as a
Favourite and the display will show the “Favourite Station” tick symbol
when you tune to this station.
Recalling a Stored Station
Once you have saved a station as one of the favourite stations, you
can recall it in the Favourite Tuning mode by pressing the button.
The display will show the Favourite Tuning mode heart symbol .
In the Favourite Tuning mode, you can tune to your favourite stations
by pressing the buttons.
Press the button again to switch o your favourite station.
Clearing Favourite Stations
Tune to the station that you want to clear. Press and hold the
button to clear the favourite station.
The station will be cleared from the Favourite memory and the display
will no longer indicate the “Favourite Station” tick symbol when you
tune to this station.

Menu Settings
The conguration of the unit can be customised to best suit your
requirements through the Settings menu.
Lock
The Lock? option enables you to lock the control against accidental
operation.
1. Press the Menu button to display the Setting menu. The “Lock?
will display on the screen.
2. Press the button to conrm “Yes” if you want to lock the
control buttons. The “Locked” will display on the screen.
3. Press the Menu button. “Lock? Yes <No>” will display on the
screen. Press the button to conrm “No”.

DAB Scan (In DAB mode)
The DAB Scan option enables you to scan the DAB band for new
stations. This is normally recommended to re-scan DAB stations if you
have moved house or traveled to other area.
FM Scan (In FM mode)
The FM Scan option enables you to scan the FM frequency for new
stations.
1. Press the Menu button to display the Setting menu.
2. Press the buttons repeatedly and then press the button to
select “FM Scan”.
3. The unit will scan each channel for stations. If stations are found
then the total number of stations found will be displayed. If no
stations are found “No Info” will display on the screen.

DAB Audio Equalisation (In DAB mode)
The DAB EQ option enables you to choose from four preset audio
equalisation options for DAB broadcasts.
1. Press the Menu button to display the Setting menu.
2. Press the buttons repeatedly and then press the button to
select “DAB EQ”.
3. Press the buttons repeatedly to select the following options:
O (no EQ) Rock Jazz Classical Pop
4. Press the button to conrm the desired setting.
5. Press the Menu button to resume normal operation.
RDS (In FM mode)
To display station information:
1. Press the Menu button to display the Setting menu.
2. Press the buttons repeatedly and then press the button to
select “RDS”.
3. Press the buttons repeatedly to select the following options:

Contrast
The Contrast option enables you to set up contrast for the display.
1. Press the Menu button to display the Setting menu.
2. Press the buttons repeatedly and then press the button to
select “Contrast”.
3. Press the buttons repeatedly to adjust the range from 1 to 5.
4. Press the button to conrm the setting or press the Menu
button to resume normal operation.
Brightness
The Brightness option enables you to set up brightness for the
display.
1. Press the Menu button to display the Setting menu.
2. Press the buttons repeatedly and then press the button to
select “Brightness”.
3. Press the buttons repeatedly to select between Low, Medium
and High.
4. Press the button to conrm the setting or press the Menu
button to resume normal operation.
Backlight
The Backlight option enables you to set the switch-o delay for the
backlight after a key-press.
1. Press the Menu button to display the Setting menu.
2. Press the buttons repeatedly and then press the button to
select “Backlight”.
3. Press the buttons repeatedly to set the display backlight
switch-o delay to 1, 5 or 10 seconds. The “No Light” option
disables the backlight. Reducing the delay will save battery power.
4. Press the button to conrm the setting or press the Menu
button to resume normal operation.

Factory Reset
There may be times when you need to reset your unit back to the
factory settings. If you experience reception problems you may want
to reset and try again. If you move the unit to another part of the
country and pick up the local and national DAB stations in that area,
your previously tuned channels may no longer be available.
1. Press the Menu button to display the Setting menu.
2. Press the buttons repeatedly and then press the button to
select “Reset”.
3. Press the button to select YES and continue to reset the unit. The
unit will then start the Quick Scan for DAB channels immediately.
4. Press the button to select NO and cancel reset.

Safety Warnings
• Retain the manual. If you pass the unit onto a third party make sure
to include this manual.
• Check that the voltage marked on the rating label matches your
mains voltage.
Damage
• Please inspect the unit for damage after unpacking.
• Do not continue to operate the unit if you are in any doubt about
it working normally, or if it is damaged in any way - switch o,
withdraw the mains adapter and consult your dealer.
Location of Unit
• The unit must be placed on a at stable surface and not subjected
to vibrations.
• Do not place the unit on sloped or unstable surfaces as the unit may
fall o or tip over.
• The mains socket must be located near the unit and should be easily
accessible.
Temperature
• Avoid extreme degrees of temperature, either hot or cold. Place the
unit well away from heat sources such as radiators or gas/electric
res.
• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and other sources of heat.
Naked Flames
• Never place any type of candle or naked ame on the top of or near
the unit.

Moisture
• To reduce the risk of re, electric shock or product damage, do not
expose this unit to rain, moisture, dripping or splashing. No objects
lled with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on the unit.
• If you spill any liquid into the unit, it can cause serious damage.
Switch it o at the mains immediately. Withdraw the mains plug
and consult your dealer.
Ventilation
• To prevent the risk of electric shock or re hazard due to
overheating, ensure that curtains and other materials do not
obstruct the ventilation vents.
• Do not install or place this unit in a bookcase, built-in cabinet or in
another conned space. Ensure the unit is well ventilated.
Safety
• Always disconnect the unit from the mains supply before
connecting/disconnecting other devices or moving the unit.
• Unplug the unit from the mains socket during a lightning storm.
• In the interests of safety and to avoid unnecessary energy
consumption, never leave the unit switched on while unattended
for long periods of time, e.g. overnight, while on holiday or while
out of the house. Switch it o and disconnect the mains plug from
the mains socket.
Interference
• Do not place the unit on or near appliances which may cause
electromagnetic interference. If you do, it may adversely aect the
working of the unit, and cause a distorted sound.
