2. Place the cover into the compartment, press down lightly, and
push it inside until it snaps on.
Battery Installation for the Remote Control
1. Press down of the compartment cover, and slide the cover
o open the compartment. Place the one accessory CR2032
battery in the remote control according to the polarity
markings (“+” and “–”) inside the compartment and on the
battery.

Handling the Batteries
• Improper or incorrect use of batteries may cause corrosion or battery leakage, which
could cause re, personal injury or damage to property.
• Only use the battery type indicated in this manual.
• When the battery is exhausted, the remote control will not function. Replace the battery
at the same time with new ones.
• Do not install new batteries with used ones and do not mix dierent types of batteries.
• Do not dispose of used batteries as domestic waste. Dispose of them in accordance with
local regulations.
Handling the Remote Control
• Take care of your ngernails when you press and hold the battery release tab.
• Do not drop or cause impact to the remote control.
• Do not spill water or any liquid on the remote control.
• Do not place the remote control on a wet object.
• Do not place the remote control under direct sunlight or near sources of excessive heat.
• Remove the battery from the remote control when not in use for a long period of time,
as it could cause corrosion or battery leakage and may result in physical injury and/or
property damage including re.

Connecting to the Mains Socket
Connect the mains cable at the rear of the main unit to the mains socket.
To the Mains Socket
Using Earphones
Connect earphones (Ø3.5mm stereo mini plug) to the earphone socket. Adjust the volume
control to obtain the desired volume level.
When the earphones are connected, the speakers will automatically mute.
When earphones are connected, the alarm will sound through the earphones instead of
the speakers. Unplug the earphones when using the alarm function.

Basic Operation
Powering ON/OFF
When you rst connect the unit to the mains socket. The unit will be in STANDBY mode.
• Press the STANDBY/ON
button to switch the unit on.
• Press the STANDBY/ON
button again to switch the unit o.
• Disconnect the mains cable from the mains socket if you want to switch the unit o
completely.
Selecting Modes
Press the CD/DAB/FM button repeatedly to switch between modes (CD/DAB/FM).
Adjusting the Volume
Turn the VOL/SKIP/SELECT control on the unit or press the VOLUME buttons on
the remote control to increase/decrease the volume.
Mute Function (Remote Control Only)
Press the MUTE button on the remote control to temporarily stop the speakers emitting
sound. The display will show “MUTE” and ash. To cancel mute and restore the sound, press
the MUTE button again or the VOLUME buttons, the “MUTE” will disappear from the
display.
Setting the Time
When you rst turn on your radio it will automatically set the time by searching out the DAB
signal. It will continue to search for the clock whilst in DAB mode until it has managed to set
the time. If after 10 minutes the clock has not automatically set itself try repositioning the
radio to get a better reception.
If the radio cannot nd a DAB frequency to set the clock, you can use the FM mode (some
FM stations also transmit time and date information).
Alarm Clock and the Wake-up Mode Settings
This unit incorporates an identical Dual Alarm function. You can have two individual alarm
wake-up time and wake-up mode settings to wake you with a buzzer tone, your favourite
radio station or your favourite CD.
Setting the alarm clock in STANDBY mode or ON mode.
1. Press the ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 button and hold it for a few
seconds. The display will shows “Alarm # Set Time” and the
hour digits will ash.
2. Turn the VOL/SKIP/SELECT control on the unit or press
the SKIP/SELECT buttons on the remote control to adjust
the hour digits, and then press the SELECT button to
conrm.

3. The minute digits will ash. Turn the VOL/SKIP/SELECT
control on the unit or press the SKIP/SELECT buttons on
the remote control to adjust the minute digits, and then press
the SELECT button to conrm.
4. The wake-up mode settings will ash on the display. Adjust
BEEP TONES / DAB & FM PRESET / Alarm wake-up Volume
level by turning the
VOL/SKIP/SELECT control on the unit
or press the SKIP/SELECT buttons on the remote control.
Press the SELECT button to conrm.

Activating the Alarm Function and Selecting the Wake-up
Mode
1. To activate the alarm function, press the ALARM 1 or 2 button repeatedly to select the
wake-up mode, the corresponding wake-up mode will change in sequence on every
press as follows:

2. Stop pressing the button when the display shows your desired wake-up mode and the
alarm is set. The associated alarm on icon will show in the display.
3. At the selected wake-up time, the desired wake-up mode will be turned on. It will
continue for one hour and then shut down automatically. To stop the alarm sooner,
press the ALARM 1 or 2 button once or press the STANDBY/ON
button to switch o
the unit.
• If CD Wake-up is selected and no disc is inserted or recognized, the beep tone will
sound instead.
• If DAB Wake-up is selected and the signal is weak, no sound may be heard.
Snooze Function
When the alarm sounds, press the SNOOZE button to temporarily switch o the alarm for
5 minutes. The LCD display will show “ ” to indicate that snooze is on. Snooze function
will continue for 1 hour from the set alarm time. If alarm 2 is due to go o within 1 hour
of alarm 1, it will not activate until alarm 1 has been switched o. If alarm 1 has been
switched o then alarm 2 will be activated.

Sleep Function
This function allows you to program the unit to switch o by itself after a set period of time.
1. To activate the sleep function, press the SLEEP button repeatedly. The time will
change in the below sequence on every press:

2. Stop pressing the button when the display shows your desired length of time. The
sleep function will be activated in 2 seconds. “S” will show on the LCD display.
3. When the sleep time reaches zero, the unit will go o. To turn the sleep function o
while the sleep timer is still counting down, press the SLEEP button until “Sleep O”
and “S” disappear from the LCD display.
System Reset
When you move the unit to another part of the country, your pre-tuned and stored DAB
stations may no longer be available and you might need to reset the unit back to its original
factory settings. To perform a factory reset, please do the following:
1. Switch on the unit and select DAB mode.
2. Press and hold the MENU
button until the display shows “Press SELECT to conrm
reset”.
3. Release the MENU
button and press the SELECT button once. The display will
rst show “Restarting …” and then perform auto scan function.
4. When the scan has nished, the radio will select and display the rst alphanumerically
found station.
All of your stored DAB & FM presets will be lost once the reset
has taken place.
Display Backlight
During ON mode, press the BACKLIGHT button on the unit to switch on the backlight,
press the button again to switch it o. During STANDBY mode, press any buttons on the
unit or the remote control to switch on the backlight for 5 seconds.

If no stations are found after auto scan, “NO station available” will show
on the LCD display.
Full auto scan will not replace the DAB stations in the memory. If you want to remove
all the previously scanned stations, you will need to reset the system.
DAB Operation
If the unit is connected to the mains power and then switched on
from standby for the rst time, the unit will automatically enter
into DAB mode and perform the auto scan function. During the
scan the LCD display will show “Scanning …” together with a slide
bar that indicates the progress of the scan and the amount of
stations that have been found so far.
Once the scan has nished, the unit will select the last
alphanumerically found station. To explore the found
stations, press the JOG MODE button and then turn
the
VOL/SKIP/SELECT control on the unit. When you nd a station
that you would like to listen to, press the SELECT button.
1. To activate auto scan, rst press the MENU button to enter
the Tune Select Menu. Press the SKIP/SELECT buttons on
the remote control to select “Full scan“, then press the SELECT
button to conrm. The display will show “Scanning …” and
a slide bar that indicates the progress of the scan.
2. All the stations that have been found will be stored
automatically, to explore the found stations, press the JOG
MODE button and then turn the
VOL/SKIP/SELECT
control on the unit. Press the SELECT button to conrm.
DAB Auto Scan
The auto scan will search for the entire DAB Band III channels. After the scan has nished,
the last alphanumerically found station will be automatically selected.

Recalling a Stored Station
1. Once you have saved a station, you can recall it by pressing
the PRESET buttons.
2. Press the PRESET
buttons to select your desired preset
station number.
3. If you choose a preset that hasn’t been allocated a station, the
“Preset empty” will be displayed.
Secondary Services
You may see a “ ” symbol after the name of the station during tuning (press the JOG MODE
button, then turning the VOL/SKIP/SELECT control on the unit), this indicates that
there are secondary services available to that station. These secondary services contain
extra services that are related to the primary station. e.g. a sports station may want to add
extra commentaries. The secondary services are inserted directly after the primary station
in the station list.
To select the secondary station, turn the
VOL/SKIP/SELECT control on the unit until
the desired secondary station is displayed, then press the SELECT button. When the
secondary service ends, the unit will automatically switch back to the primary station.
Manual Tuning
As well as the auto tune function, you can manually tune the receiver. This can help you
when aligning your aerial or when adding stations that were missed while auto tuning.
1. Press the MENU
button, then turn the
VOL/SKIP/SELECT control on the unit to select Manual
tune. Press the SELECT button. The LCD will now show
Manual tune.
2. Press the SKIP/SELECT
buttons to cycle through the DAB
channels, which are numbered from 5A to 13F.
3. When your desired channel number is selected, press the
SELECT
button to enter the current multiplex. The top line
will now display the multiplex name and the second line will
display the signal strength.
4. Press the SELECT
button to conrm the selection, or press the SKIP/SELECT
buttons on the remote control to look for another station that you would like to listen to.
Storing Stations
You can store up to 10 of your favourite stations to the memory. This will enable you to
access your favourite stations quickly and easily.

DAB Display Modes
Every time you press the DISPLAY/INFO button, the display will cycle through the
following display modes: Time/Date, Frequency, Audio Bit Rate, Signal Strength, DLS,
Programme Type, Ensemble/Multiplex (Group name).
The information is displayed on the lower segment of the LCD display.

The broadcaster (Radio station) provides clock
and date information automatically so there’s
no need to manually set this information.
Frequency
The frequency of the present station will be
displayed.
Audio Bit Rate
The display will show the digital audio bit rate
being received.
Signal Strength
The display will show a slide bar to indicate
the signal strength, the stronger the signal, the
longer the bar will be from left to right.
DLS (Dynamic Label Segment)
Dynamic label segment is a scrolling message
that the broadcaster may include with their
transmissions. The message usually includes
information, such as program details etc.
Programme Type
This describes the style of the programme that
is being broadcast. If the information is not
available, the display will show <No PTY>.
Multiplex Name
A multiplex is a collection of radio stations that
are bundled and transmitted on one frequency.
There are national and local multiplexes. Local
ones contain stations that are specic to that
area.
DAB – unlike normal radio, groups together several
radio stations and transmits them on one frequency.

Storing Stations
You can store up to 10 of your favourite stations to the memory. This will enable you to
access your favourite stations quickly and easily.
1. To store a preset, you must rst be listening to the station that
you would like to save. Press and hold the PROGRAM button,
“# [Not set]” will show on the LCD display and the preset
number will ash.
2. Press the SKIP/SELECT
buttons to select your desired
preset station number and then press the PROGRAM button
to conrm. The station will be stored and the screen will then
show “Preset # stored“.
FM Operation
Switching from DAB to FM Mode
To switch the unit to FM mode, press the CD/DAB/FM button repeatedly to select FM. The
LCD display will show “switch to FM”, and show the frequency.
Auto Scan
To search for an FM station, press and hold the SKIP/SELECT button on the remote
control to start the forward auto scanning. Press and hold the SKIP/SELECT button on
the remote control to start the reverse scanning. The LCD display will show the frequency
being searched. Once a station has been found, the scanning will stop automatically.
Manual Scan
To search for FM stations manually, press the JOG MODE button, then turn the
VOL/SKIP/SELECT control on the unit to select your desired frequency. The LCD display
will show <Tuning>.
Alternatively, press the SKIP/SELECT
buttons on the remote control until your desired
frequency is reached.
Audio Mode
Press the SELECT button to toggle between the Auto or Mono selection.
The unit will automatically switch between stereo and mono mode when it is set to Auto, but you
can override this and switch between them manually. This is helpful when receiving poor signal
reception.

Recalling a Stored Station

Programme Type
This describes the “Style” or “genre” of music that
is being broadcast e.g. “Rock” or “Classical”.
Time/Date
The broadcaster (Radio station) provides clock
and date information automatically so there’s
no need to manually set this information. In the
unlikely event that the broadcaster does not
transmit any clock information; the LCD display
will show <Time/Date>.
Radio Text
As with DAB, the broadcaster can include a
scrolling text that displays information about
the current program. If Radio text information
is not available, then the LCD display will show
<No Radio Text>.

This shows the frequency of the current station.

Playing a CD
Press the CD/DAB/FM button repeatedly to select CD mode
1. Open the CD door, and insert a CD with the printed side facing
up, then press the CD door gently to close. The total number
of the tracks in the disc will display on the display window.

Some recorded les may not be able to be played due to the type and
format of disc or condition of the recording.
• If there is no disc inside or the CD door is not closed, the
display window will display “NO DISC”.
2. Press the SELECT
button to start playback, the rst track
will be played. The display window will also display the
number of the currently playing track.
3. To interrupt playback , press the SELECT
button
once again. The time elapsed indicator will ash. Press
the SELECT button once more again to resume
playback.
4. To stop CD playback, press the MENU
button.
Selecting a Dierent Track
• Press the SKIP/SELECT buttons once or repeatedly until the desired track
number appears in the display.
Finding a Passage within a Track
1. During playback, press and hold the SKIP/SELECT buttons. The CD is played at
high speed and with reduced volume.
2. When you recognise the passage you want, release the SKIP/SELECT
buttons
to resume normal playback.

Repeat Program Play
You may use the program play and the repeat play features together to continuously repeat
a programmed playback. First program the desired playback sequence, then press the
REPEAT button to select repeating the current track or the entire programmed sequence,
the associated repeat icon will be displayed.
Erasing a Program
In stop mode, you can erase the contents of the memory by pressing the MENU button
or by opening the CD door. The “
MEM
“ indicator will disappear.
Reviewing the Program
In stop mode, press the PROGRAM button to display your stored tracks.
2. Press the SKIP/SELECT
buttons to select your desired
track number.
3. Press the PROGRAM button to store the desired track number.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to enter additional tracks into the
program memory.
5. To play your program, press the SELECT
button. The “
MEM
“
indicator will show on the LCD display.
Programming Track Numbers
You may store up to 20 tracks in the desired sequence. Be sure to press the STOP button
before use to ensure no prior program has been set.
1. In stop mode, press the PROGRAM button to activate
programming. ”

Random Mode (Remote Control Only)
Press the RANDOM button on the remote control to select
RANDOM mode, the display will show “
RANDOM
” and the tracks will
start playing randomly.
To cancel random play, press the RANDOM button again, The

RANDOM
“ indicator will disappear.

Repeat Mode
You can play the current track or the whole disc repeatedly with REPEAT mode.
• During playback, press the REPEAT button once to repeat a single track. The “
REP 1
“
indicator will illuminate.
• Press the REPEAT button twice to repeat the whole disc. The “
REP ALL
“ indicator will
illuminate.
• To return to normal playback, press the REPEAT button repeatedly until all repeat
indicators disappear.
