Additional Functions 3
In addition to the PDM software applications previously described in this
manual certain PDM Pooling Manager functions are restricted to users
assigned a LABADMIN role.
Pooling Manager Trace Messages
The Hamilton Microlab STAR IVD / STARlet IVD Pipettor communicates
with the Roche PDM software to log every action that is carried out
during the pipetting process. These log messages can be viewed by the
laboratory administrator and used to help troubleshoot pipetting errors
1 Click the Pooling button in the global command button area in
other PDM applications to start the Roche PDM Pooling Manager.
2 Examine the pipetting error message(s) in the Alarms View tab
(Figure 3.1).

5 Double-click the results to display the Roche PDM - Trace Results dialog
box (Figure 3.3).
The Trace Results dialog box displays pipettor status information at the
time the error occurred. This information includes the main and slave
errors, aspirate or dispense volume, and deck position for each of the eight
pipetting channels.
The Trace Results dialog box also displays the reason for the error.
The type of information that is displayed depends on the pipetting
step.
Use the up and down arrows to page through trace results for
adjacent pipetting steps.
