1 Introduction

METTLERTOLEDO.TheInPro6000(i)seriesamperometric
O
2
sensors are intendedsolely for in-line measurement
oftheoxygenpartialpressuree.g.,oxygenmeasurement
inliquids.
Applicationexamplesare(butnotlimitedto),fermentation
in biotechnology, oxygen measurement in brewing and
chemicalapplications.
The followingsensor types arecoveredwithinthisquick
set-upguide.
InPro6800/InPro6850i/InPro6900/InPro6900i/
InPro6950/InPro6950i/easySense.
Sensorswithout’i’areanalogsensorsandwith’i’aredigital
sensorsincorporatingIntelligentSensorManagement(ISM).

contact. The instrument needs to be switched to zero
potentialbeforeanyoperationonthewiringterminal.

aredelivereddryandmustbelledwithelectrolytebefore
start-up.Electrolyte has to be ordered separately.
Analogsensorsaredeliveredlledwithelectrolyte,however,
itisadvisedtoreplacetheelectrolytereservoirwithfresh
solution.

4 Installation
4.1 Connection
The sensors are installed to a transmitter by using a VP
(analogsensors) or AK9 (ISMsensors) connector cable.
Cables in different lengths 2–50 m are available from
METTLERTOLEDO.

4.2 Mounting the sensor
Before mounting the sensor into a housing remove the
protectioncaponthesensor.Thesensorcanthenbemounted
intoanInFit/InTracSerieshousingfromMETTLERTOELDO.
Alternatively,the12mmsensorscan bemounteddirectly
throughasocketwithinsidethreadPg13.5andsecurely
tightenedviathePg13.5threadedsleeve.

5 Operation
5.1 Start-up and polarizing
Whenthesystemisoperatedforthersttimeorifthesensor
hasbeendisconnectedfromthevoltagesource(transmitter
or O
2
sensormaster)forlongerthan5minutes,thesensor
hastobepolarizedpriortocalibrationbyconnectingittothe
operatingO
2
transmitterortoasensormaster.After6hours,
thesensorwillbefullypolarizedandreadyforoperation.
For polarizing and storage the cleaning and conditioning
solution (order Nr. 52 200 255) is recommended. This
solutioncontainsanoxygenscavengerwhichensuresthat
theelectrolyteofthesensordoesnotcomeintocontactwith
oxygenwhennotinuse.

Attention:TheInPro6950ishouldneverbepolarizedatair!
It is recommended to store the sensors in the according
electrolyteorcleaningandconditioningsolutionduringthe
polarizationtime.TheInPro6900iand6950iuseaspecial
electrolytewhichcontainsanoxygenscavenger.

Warning: Setting of the polarization voltage on the
transmitter for correct measurements:
Standardapplications:–675mV.
Measurementsofcontinuouslylowestoxygenconcentrations
(<500ppb in liquids or<10,000 ppm [vol.] ingases)
andInpresenceofvolatileacidiccomponents(e.g.carbon
dioxideduringmeasurementsinbreweries):–500mV.
5.2 Calibration
WithdigitalISMsensorsallcalibrationdataarestoredinthe
sensor.Oncelledwithelectrolyteandpolarizedtheycanbe
connectedtoanISMtransmitterandimmediatelyusedfor
measurement.Analogsensorsaredeliveredwetandafter
polarizationcanbeslope1-pt,2pt-orprocesscalibrated
usingatransmitter.
With ISM sensors METTLER TOLEDO’s calibration
and maintenance software tools iSense/iSense light
are recommended for sensor checking and calibration.
(www.mt.com/iSense).
Polarizationvoltageforcalibrationpurposesarealwaysput
to–675mV.
Formeasurements incarbondioxidecontainingsolutions
the transmitter setting has to be switched to –500 mV
accordinglyafterthecalibration.
6 Maintenance
Ifthemembraneand/ortheinteriorbodyexhibitssignsof
failure(longresponsetime,increasedcurrentinanoxygen-
freemedium,mechanicaldamage,etc.)themembranebody
and/ortheinteriorbodyhastobereplaced.
The incorporated Intelligent Sensor Management (ISM)
technologymonitorsandreportstheremaininglifetimeof
theinnerbodiesastheDynamicLifetimeIndicator.
Dependingontheaggressiveness(CIP/SIP)oftheapplication
conditionsareplacementofelectrolyte,themembranebody
or the interior body is recommended. This maintenance
can be performed by using the transmitter’s calibration
menu and/or using METTLER TOLEDO’s calibration and
maintenancetooliSense(www.mt.com/iSense).

Procedure
Cleanse with demin water; turn cap sleeve twice, do not
unmountyet.Fromthebottompushthemembranebodyout
byaslightupwardspush;unscrewcompletely.Removecap
sleeveandmembranebody.Cleaninnerbody.Ifnescessary
use new membrane body and ll with fresh electrolyte
solution. Make sure no air bubbles are trapped. Replace
O-ringeachtimewhenreplacingthemembranebodyand
screwthecapsleeveoncarefully.
7 Disposal
Itistheusersresponsibilitytodisposeofspentspareparts
and if necessary the sensor in a professional manner.
Sensorscontainelectroniccomponentsthatrequirespecial
disposalwithoutanyhazardforhumans,andwithnoriskof
harmtotheenvironment.Pleaseobservetheapplicablelocal
ornational regulations concerning thedisposal of “waste
electricalandelectronicequipment”.
8 Warranty
Onmanufacturingdefects,12monthsafterdelivery.
9 Storage conditions
Inspect the sensor immediately after receiving for any
transportdamage.Thesensorshouldbe stored in a dry,
cleanandprotectedareauntilthetimeofinstallation.Ifthe
sensorhasbeenremovedfromthe process, it should be
thoroughlycleanedanddried.Itshouldbestoredinadry,
cleanandprotectedareauntiltimeofinstallation.
