Building Zundstadt
These instructions cover all the different Zundstadt items.
DO NOT REMOVE EVERYTHING FROM THE SPURE ALL AT ONCE – ONLY REMOVE THE PIECES FOR THE
SECTION YOU ARE CURRENTLY CONSTRUCTING.
Please read these instructions fully before starting construction.
PVA or equivalent glue will be required to stick sections together.
Sand paper can be used to gently clean any joints.
A sharp modelling knife will be required to remove sections from the sprue. Please use knives with due care and remember
to cut away from yourself at all times.
During the construction of this model, you may find it convenient to use pegs / elastic bands to hold pieces in place while
you allow glue to dry.
Base Sections / Roads
First of all remove the two base pieces from the sprue.
If connectors have been supplied inside the lower base
then these should be removed at this point.
Glue the lower base to the upper base making sure
all the edges align correctly.
Corner Walls (A/E and C/D)
Remove a pair of corner sections from the sprue (as
shown above) – These could be pieces “A and E” or “C
and D”. Our example uses pieces “A” and “E”.
All the building floors have letters inscribed into
them showing where the walls go.
Glue the two pieces together but DO NOT glue them
to the floor at this point because it is easier to build
them in position, but paint them separately. Note the
etched detail faces into the building.
Remove the two framework pieces “A” and “E” from
the sprue.
Then attach “A” to the outside edge as shown – note
the overhang on the right hand side..
Glue the stonework and two plasterwork panels into
place.
Glue the stonework for “E” into place so the left hand
side is flush with the end the upright as shown.
Then attach the framework and two plasterwork
sections.
The completed corner section. Allow all the glue to dry
then simply lift it off the base so it can be painted.
The construction of the “C” and “D” corner follows
the same method.
Side Walls (B) – All types
Remove the wall section from the sprue.
Our example uses the short “stub” walls (G), but the
longer walls (K) are done the same way.
Glue the stub walls back to back, then glue them to the
wall section as shown above.
Side walls are marked with a “B” on the buildings
base (see above).
Place (do not glue) the wall into position on the base.
Take framework “B”, its two stonework sections and
four plasterwork sections from the sprue.
Glue the frame work to the wall ensuring the edged
neatly align, then glue the stonework and plasterwork
pieces into place. Allow to dry, then remove for
painting.
An example of the longer walls (K)
Wall Blanks
The wall “blanks” are formed using the pieces shown
above.
Glue the wall into its base, noting that the etched
side faces towards the curved edge of the base.
Glue the stonework into place – ensure it lines up
neatly with the edges of the wall.
Attach the framework and the two plasterwork
pieces – again ensuring they align with the edges of
the wall.
An alternative wall “blanK” with a window in it.
Doors (all types)
The doors are formed using the pieces shown above.
(note there are different styles of cross-bar)
Glue the front of the door to its base as shown.
A rear views shows the gap between the door and
etched line.
Glue the thinner of the two door sections to the rear
of the door and glue the “Z” frame above it.
Glue the rest of the door pieces into place.
Glue one of the handle pieces into the gap.
Glue the other handle into place on the front of the
door along with the two bars.
Assembling the Layout
All the pieces used to create Zundstadt have a
connection point in the centre of each squares outer
edge. Place a connector into these.
Then simply position the next section so it fits onto
the connectors.
We recommend that you glue connectors permanently into position on one edge of the road sections to help
speed up the layout.
