SmartCNX CONTROLLER
Connect the SmartCNX installer app to the SmartCNX controller with Bluetooth as described below:

For receiver with jumpers turn on
Bluetooth by placing jumpers as
shown at right.
For receiver with switch, turn on
Bluetooth by placing switch to
ON position.

1. Ensure both AC and DC power switches for the SmartCNX controller are switched to OFF (FIGURE 2).
2. Remove rubber cover from plugin radio slot on the SmartCNX controller (FIGURE 1, left).
3. Depending on the version, either use needle nose pliers to move jumper from pins B&C (FIGURE 1) to pins
A&B to enable wireless communication OR place switch to ON position. Replace rubber cover over slot.
4. Power up SmartCNX Controller by switching both AC and DC switches to ON (FIGURE 2).
5. Press MENU, then press UP to navigate to “EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS” (FIGURE 4).
6. Press SELECT, then press DOWN to navigate to “BLE OPTIONS MENU” (FIGURE 4).
7. Press SELECT, then press UP to select “ON”, then press SELECT again to enable Bluetooth.
8. Press UP to obtain Bluetooth PIN and gate name – these are used to connect the app.

9. Optional: Press MENU Button (3) times to verify Bluetooth connectivity with Bluetooth symbol (FIGURE 4).
10. To ensure the latest version of the SmartCNX Installer app is installed on your phone, download the latest
version of the app from the Play Store.
11. On the phone, click the HySecurity SmartCNX icon to open the application.
12. Tap “Connect”.
13. Tap the desired gate name from the list of available gate names that appear.
14. At the prompt, enter the PIN that was shown in the CNX controller display in STEP 8.
15. Top left “Connect” button turns green if correct PIN was entered and to indicate a successful connection.
NOTES:
If there are connectivity problems, refer to the Troubleshooting Connectivity Problems table below.
The PIN is xed and unique for each Smart CNX Control Board and cannot be changed.
The SmartCNX installer app is for installation only. For added security Bluetooth will turn o automatically
at midnight.
For added security remove the Bluetooth Jumper (STEP 3) to physically remove power from Bluetooth radio.
TROUBLESHOOTING CONNECTIVITY PROBLEMS
PROBLEM SOLUTION
Gate name does
not appear when
clicking “Connect”
on SmartCNX
installer app.
Make sure Bluetooth is enabled by following STEPS 1-10. Check for the Blutooth symbol when
exiting the menus (see STEP 8).
Check if Bluetooth jumper is connected. Jumper located under the OXI port on the Smart CNX
Controler. Jumpers need to be inserted across the A & B pins (FIGURE 1) to enable Bluetooth.
