PRODUCT FEATURES
This digital video recorder (DVR) can connect to up to 16 channels of alarms / sensors and receive a max of 16
channels of camera input. This product can use up to 4 channles from the 16 channles as IP cameras while the
others are used as the conventional analog camera.
It provides the network environment that allows you for external monitoring using the PC and you can use the
backup viewer to create and play backup data personally.

Recording Modes
- Normal recording: records continuously during the period of normal recording schedule.
- Motion recording: records when a motion is detected during the period of motion recording schedule.
- Sensor recording: records when a sensor event occurs during the period of sensor recording schedule.
- Text recording: records when a predetermined text is input in the POS or ATM during the period of text
recording schedule.
Search and Play of Recording
In SURVEILLANCE mode (one channel search)
- Normal search (one channel search): searches for the latest data from the selected channel.
- Date/time search: searches for the recording data of the specifi ed date and time.
- Smart search: searches for motion in a specifi ed area.
- Recording channel map search: searches for recording data, with all channel recording information.
(Searches by selecting a specifi c time frame in the recording map.)
- Text search: searches for recording data, with the text entered during POS recording.
- Event search: searches for recording data, with event information.

Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding- type plug. A polarized plug has two
blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding
prong. The wide blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. if the provided plug does not
t into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience
receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
Only use attachments/accessories specifi ed by the manufacturer.
Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specifi ed by the
manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when
moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of
time.
Refer all servicing to qualifi ed service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been
damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or

to other equipment, menu setup, and the like.
You have to keep in mind the following notices:

If you want to open the case of your system for checking problems, please consult the expert from the shop

Before installing any external device such as external memory or HDD, please check the compatibility of the
device with Samsung DVR. The list of the compatible devices with Samsung DVR can be obtained from your
vendor.
Apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects fi lled with liquids, such as vases, shall be
placed on the apparatus.
The Mains plug is used as a disconnect device and shall stay readily operable at any time.

Battery
Exchanging a wrong battery in your product may cause an explosion. Therefore you must use the same type of
battery as the one being used in the product.
The following are the specifi cations of the battery you are using now.

Continuous standard load: 0.2mA
Operating temperature: -20°C ~ +85°C
(-4°F ~ +185°F)
The rechargeable battery incorporated in this product is not user replaceable.
For information on its replacement, please contact your service provider.
System Shutdown
Turning off the power while the product is in operation, or taking not permitted actions may cause damage to the
hard drive or the product. Also it can cause a dysfunction to the hard disk while using the product. Please turn off
the power using the Power button on the front of your DVR. After selecting OK in the pop-up menu, you can pull
off the power cord.
You may want to install a UPS system for safe operation in order to prevent damage caused by an unexpected
power stoppage. (Any questions concerning UPS, consult your UPS retailer.)
Operating Temperature
The guaranteed operating temperature range of this product is 0°C ~ 40°C (32°F ~ 104°F).
This product may not work properly if you run right after a long period of storage at a temperature below the
guaranteed one.
When using the device after a long period of storage at low temperature, place the product at room temperature for
a while and run it.
Especially for the built-in HDD in the product, its guaranteed temperature range is 5°C ~ 55°C
(41°F ~ 131°F). Likewise, the hard drive may not work at a temperature below the guaranteed one.
STANDARDS APPROVALS
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant
to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful
interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment.
This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used
in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communications.

INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS
- Make sure to turn the product off before installation.
- Avoid strong impact or vibration because it may damage the product.
- Do not install in a place exposed to strong electromagnetic fi elds, or near a radio device such as a radio, TV etc.
- Keep the installation place clean when and after installing the product so that there is no dust.
- Install the product on an open, fl at surface and maintain an appropriate temperature.
In addition, keep the system at least 15 cm away from the wall.
- Take care not to allow a conductive object to fall into the vents.
- Install the system in a cool place out of direct sunlight and keep the devices and tools away from an aisle so as to
prevent possible injury.
- If when using the system that generates smoke, it may cause a fi re or an electric shock. In this case, turn the
system off using the power switch and contact your system provider to request technical support.
- Carefully examine possible causes of faults such as damp fl oor, power extension cable without ground, worn-out
power cord, no safe ground, and so on.
CHECKING INSTALLATION ENVIRONMENT
Check installation environment for safe use of the system.
This system can be installed on a fl at table.
This system must be installed horizontally. Do not stand it vertically or diagonally.
The location of the main body and the power outlet is very important for proper operation of the system.
The system may not work properly in a place where the equipment is too close, or with poor ventilation due to lack
of a ventilation system. And the system maintenance can be challenged in an environment where the system could
harly be accessed.
To prevent trouble with the system and to prevent cases when the system is shutdown by operation environment,
ventilate the air in the system installation place and fi x the system cover fi rmly. Since there are high-voltage parts
inside the system, do not open the cover.
Use this system in the following operation environment where constant temperature and humidity is maintained.
- Operation temperature: 5°C to 40°C
- Operation humidity: 20% to 95% RH
- Ventilation: the front intake vents and the back exhaust vents should not blocked.

Connect one of the two lines from the sensor to the ground (G)
and connect the other line to one of the corresponding sensor

STARTING AND SHUTTING DOWN THE SYSTEM
Starting the System
Open the front cover and press and hold the DVR power
switch for 1 or 2 seconds.
The system is turned on and the DVR program loading screen
appears.
If the program loading is completed, the live screen of the
guest level appears. (Live Mode)
Shutting Down the System
You can shutdown the system only when you have logged in with <Admin>
account.
Click the <Exit> mode button.
The <Exit> button can be clicked only when you have logged in with
<Admin> account.
Enter the <Admin> password in the password input window.
You can enter a password using the numeric keyboard on
the screen or the numeric keys of the keyboard.
Click <OK>.
The DVR live screen disappears and the system is shutdown
within approximately 15 seconds.
You can also shutdown the system in <Confi guration>-<Go
To Shell>.
Reset: deletes all the entered digits.
Del: deletes the last entered digit.

LOGGING IN AND OUT
Logging In
This system allows logging into the system in two modes by default factory setting.
When you log in for the fi rst time, log in as <Admin>, administrator mode.
Admin mode (administrator) : <Admin> user has the highest privilege in the system.
Initial password of <Admin> account is <4321>.
Guest mode (guest) : initial default mode. <Guest> can monitor the live screen and change screen layout only.
You can set up the privilege of the <Guest> mode in <Confi guration>-
<User/Password>. Page 58
The <Guest> mode is the default mode and you don’t have to enter a password for
this mode.
You can register a user, and set up password and privilege for users in <Confi guration>-<User/Password>.
For security purposes, change the password of <Admin> when you have logged in for the fi rst time.
In <Live Mode>, you can log into the system with another user account.
Click the <Login/Logout> mode button from among the main mode
buttons.
Select a user account.
Click the dropdown menu button. Registered users will be
listed.
Select the user account you wish to log into the system with.
Logging Out
In <Live Mode>, you can log out the current user account.
Click the <Login/Logout> mode button from among the main mode
buttons.
Enter the password of the current account.
You can enter a password using either the mouse or the
numeric keys of the keyboard.
Reset: deletes all the entered digits.
Del: deletes the last entered digit.
Click <OK>.
You are logged out from the selected user mode.

Icon Name Functional description
Surveillance Screen
You can monitor sites in real-time, search for a channel, change screen layout and
control PTZ.
Search Screen
You can search for multiple channels, save pictures as JPG, BMP and AVI format and
search for recording data in multiple methods.
Search - detail search, smart search, map search, text search and event search
are available.
Setup Screen
You can change DVR settings and move to shell mode.
Setup - camera, schedule, alarm, communication, user/password, system, and text
setup are available.
Backup Screen
(manual backup)
You can manually backup recording data onto a CD-ROM, DVD, or removable HDD.
AVI, BMP and JPG
Save Screen
You can save a found picture as AVI or BMP/JPG fi le.
(The JPG, BMP and AVI save screen is available in search mode only.)
Print Screen
You can print a found picture.
(The print screen is available in search mode only.)
Etc
You can set up external monitor and connection with another DVR.

SURVEILLANCE (LIVE) MODE SCREEN LAYOUT
SURVEILLANCE (Live) mode screen is the default screen that appears when you log into the system. In this screen,
you can monitor, control PTZ and search for a channel.
Main Mode Buttons
Refer to the descriptions in <Live Screen Main Mode Buttons> section.

Camera Information
Shows camera, sensor, audio, alarm, and DVR server information.
Screen Layout Buttons
Screen Information Display
Shows information including camera name, recording status and zoom setting on the SURVEILLANCE (live)
mode screen.
If no camera is connected, different message is displayed depending on the camera type.
CCD: “No video signal”
Network: “Disconnection”
None: The logo will be displayed.
Remote PTZ control
If you switch a PTZ protocol-set camera to one channel screen layout, the PTZ control menu will appear.
Zoom / Audio Volume Control
You can zoom in or out the picture through the zoom level bar in one channel screen layout.
When the audio output is set to <On>, you can control the volume with the mouse.
One Channel Search Control
You can also search for one channel in the SURVEILLANCE (live) mode screen.
If you click the <One channel search> button, you can use smart search, map search, text search and event
search.
Search Screen information display bar
Status Display Bar
The status bar shows HDD usage, another DVR connection status, backup status, network connection status,
time of the oldest recording data, login user, and the current time.

CAMERA INFORMATION PANEL
Shows all channel and camera information in tree structure.
Camera information folder
Displays information about the connected cameras.

Outputs the picture from the camera to an external monitor (Spot)
connected to the DVR.
If you right-click over a camera No., the <External Monitor>
setting window will appear.
Select or deselect <External Monitor> according to your needs.
You have to select <Etc> - <External Monitor Setting> - <Fixed Mode>
to set up the <External Monitor> described above.
Default setting shows the picture from camera No. 1 on the external monitor.
You cannot set up external monitor for a network camera.
Sensor folder
Shows the connected sensors (alarm inputs) in the order of the sensor number.
If the sensor is working, the icon will be displayed in red.
Digital OUT folder
Shows the connected D/O (alarm output) devices in the order of the
alarm number.
Right-click over an alarm number.
The Alarm output On/Off window will appear.
If the alarm output status is <On>, the icon will be displayed in
red.
Audio folder
Shows the audio devices in the order of the audio number.
Right-click over an audio number.
The audio On/Off window will appear.
If the audio output status is <On>, the icon will be displayed in red.

DVR Server Folder
Shows information on another DVR server connected to the current
DVR.
Right-click over <DVR Server>.
Context-sensitive pop-up menu appears.
Register a remote DVR: registers the DVR server to the
connection list.
Disconnect all server: disconnects all the connected DVR
servers.
You can also register a DVR server in <Custom Setup>-<Server to Server>-<Registering a DVR
server>.

If you click <DVR Server>, the registered DVR servers will be listed.
Click <DVR Server>.
The registered DVR servers are listed.
Right-click over a desired DVR server item.
Context-sensitive pop-up menu appears.
Connect to server: connects to the selected DVR server.
Disconnect server: disconnects the selected DVR server.
If a DVR server is connected, connected DVR server will turn to red.

SCREEN INFORMATION DISPLAY
Shows picture from the connected camera in the SURVEILLANCE (live) screen.
Shows information in each channel screen.
Camera Name
Shows the camera name set in <Confi guration> - <Camera name>.
Default values: CAM01 ~ CAM16
Zoom
Only one channel screen layout shows zoom level.
Select a zoom level using the zoom control bars.
Recording Status
Shows the current recording status.
- NOR: Normal recording
- MOT: Motion recording
- SEN: Sensor recording
- TXT: Text recording
- M/S: Motion/sensor recording
- M/T: Motion/text recording
- S/T: Sensor/text recording
- M/S/T: Motion/sensor/text recording
- +A: Audio recording
Motion, sensor and text recordings have priority over normal recording.
You can set normal recording, motion recording, sensor recording, and text recording in <Confi guration> - <Schedule>.
You can set pre-recording in <Confi guration> - <Camera> - <Pre Rec>.
You can set audio recording in <Confi guration> - <Camera> - <Audio>.
