HEAT EXCHANGER
The unit has a counterflow heat exchanger made of aluminium and
it has a temperature efficiency of up to 80%. An automatic defrosting
function, Termo ice is standard.

The table above shows the unit temperature efficiency in % at a given
air flow according to EN 308 conditions.
POST HEATER, ELECTRICAL
The 2.4 kW electrical post heater is used to heat the supply air tem-
perature when the counter flow heat exchanger is not able to recover
enough energy. It is also used when the defrosting function Termo ice
is active.
POST HEATER, HOT WATER COIL
Alternatively, a water coil can be used for post heating. The purpose of
the water coil is to raise the supply air temperature when the counter
flow heat exchanger is not able to recover enough energy.
FILTERS
The unit is fitted with a ISO Coarse pre-filter and ISO ePmi 55% filter in
the supply side and a ISO Coarse filter on the extract side. Fine filter is
made of paper materials.
PACKAGING
The unit is delivered in a cardboard box. Operation, installation and
maintenance instructions are included.

CASING
The outer and inner casing are made of white coated galvanised steel
(RAL9016) with an intermediate layer of 20 mm polyester fiber insula-
tion. Corrosion class C3 and leakage class L3 (CEN class A).
FANS
The fans are driven by energy-efficient EC motors. The speed of the
fans can be adjusted stepless independently of each other.

ELECTRICAL DATA, CONTROL EQUIPMENT
TERMO ICE – AUTOMATIC DEFROSTING
The Termo ice function ensures an optimal annual efficiency and a bet-
ter indoor climate. The unit uses temperature sensors to detect when
defrosting of the heat exchanger is needed. Defrosting will not occur if
it is not needed. The Termo ice function operates differently depending
on if the unit is equipped with an electrical or water post heater.
TERMO ICE, POST HEATER, ELECTRICAL
When Termo ice is activated the by-pass damper opens and the
outdoor air is directed directly to the post heater and not via the heat
exchanger. The supply air fan is not stopped. The warm extract air de-
frosts the heat exchanger.
TERMO ICE, POST HEATER, WATER
When Termo ice is activated the supply air fan is stopped. The warm
extract air defrosts the heat exchanger.
When defrosting is not anymore needed the unit operates normally.
COOLING RECOVERY
During summertime, if the extract air is cooler than the outdoor air, the
by-pass damper will close. The heat exchanger then recovers cooling
from the extract air. This primarily applies if there is some form of cold
air device in the house. When the extract air is warmer then the out-
door air the by-pass damper will again be opened.
HUMIDITY
Optional humidity sensor for extract air. The unit can be controlled to
maintain the humidity below certain level via the Plus Touch panel.
CO2
Optional carbon dioxide sensor for extract air. The unit can be control-
led to maintain the carbon dioxide level below a certain level via the
Plus Touch panel.
MODBUS RTU
The unit has a Modbus RTU interface as standard. The unit can be con-
trolled and monitored via the Modbus field bus interface.
ALARMS
The unit is equipped with alarms for filter change, sensor errors and
freeze protection when a water post heater is used.
SEC CLASS
SEC class A+ is fulfilled in a cold climate zone
(Nordic countries). Units configured for demand
control will achieve SEC class B in an average cli-
mate zone (Central Europe). ECO design directive 1254/2014.
CONTROL EQUIPMENT
The unit is equipped with an electronic control system, Plus control-
ler. The Plus controller handles fan speeds, the by-pass damper and
electrical post heater (accessory). The air handling unit is supplied
with a 1.25 meter cable and a plug in connector for the main supply.
Other connections are made in the connection box outside the unit.
The connection box has facilities for Modbus connections, cooker
hoods, Mosaik control and Plus Touch panel. Any additional sensor
connections are made directly at the control board.
FAN CONTROL
Four operating modes can be selected via the control panel (accesso-
ry):
AWAY is used when nobody is at home for a longer period e.g. vaca-
tion.
NORMAL is used for normal ventilation air flow.
BOOST is used when there is a need for a higher ventilation air flow.
MAXIMUM generates full fan speed.
The fan speeds can be adjusted independently of each other.
TEMPERATURE CONTROL
The Plus controller controls the by-pass damper and the electrical post
heater (accessory) to maintain the supply temperature set point. The
electrical post heater is activated when the energy recovery from the
heat exchanger is insufficient.

Home
PLUS TOUCH PANEL
With the Plus Touch panel it is possible to change for example fan
speeds, temperature set point, date and time. For tips and more infor-
mation, press and hold the selected item on the screen.
TEMPERATURE SET POINT
It is possible to change the temperature set point and to read the tem-
perature of the different temperature sensors via the Plus Touch panel.
The temperature sensors are located inside the unit. This means that
they do not precisely reflect the actual outdoor or indoor air tempera-
tures.
WEEKLY SCHEDULES
The unit can be set to operate according to user-defined weekly sche-
dules. A setup wizard guides you through the basic set-up. It is pos-
sible to edit the schedule for each day afterwards.
ALARMS
The Plus Touch panel shows alarms for example filter change and
sensor errors. For more information regarding alarms see separate
parts in this document.
FAN OPERATING MODES
All four operating modes can be selected via the Plus Touch panel:
Away is used when nobody is at home for a longer period e.g.
vacation.
Home is used for normal ventilation air flow.
Boost, there are several variants:
Boost is used when there is a need for a higher ventilation air flow.
Boost 60 minutes sets the unit into BOOST mode for 60 minutes
Fireplace timer 15 minutes is used when the user wants to light a fire
Maximum generates full fan speed.
Note! If a separate Away/Normal control switch is used, the switch
must be in the normal position to allow changes via the touch panel.

BASIC OPERATION
The basic functions of the air handling unit can be controlled from the
following:

MOSAIK CONTROL
Mosaik is standard light switch sized controller with three operating
modes. The right switch controls whether the unit is in away mode or
normal operation and the left switch controls home or boost operating
mode when right switch is in normal mode.
COOKER HOOD CONTROL
The air handling unit’s operating modes can be controlled with a coo-
ker hood. Compatible Iloxair cooker hoods can also indicate and reset
the unit’s alarms. For more detailed information please read the cooker
hood manual. Using Iloxair cooker hoods is strongly recommended for
ensuring the compability.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL, WATER HEATER
The supply air temperature set point is adjustable via the radiator ther-
mostat inside the unit. The below figure describes how to adjust the
set point:
Note! Position 3 or 4 on the radiator thermostat is recommended
during cold periods and * during warm periods.
TEMPERATURE CONTROL
During cold periods the by-pass damper closes and the cold outdoor
air is led through the counter flow heat exchanger (winter mode). The
supply air will then be heated from the warm extract air. When the
outdoor air is cold and the recovered heat from the extract air is not
enough to achieve the supply air temperature set point then the post
heater (option) will start in order to maintain the supply air temperatu-
re. During warm periods when the heat recovery from the extract air is
not needed then the by-pass damper opens and the outdoor air is led
passed the heat exchanger directly into the supply air (summer mode).

TEMPERATURE CONTROL, ELECTRICAL HEATER
Temperature set point.
The supply air temperature set point is adjustable via the knob on the
front edge of the electrical box inside the unit. The temperature set
point can be adjusted between 12 and 26°C, recommended set points
being between 17°C and 20°C. It is also possible to set the tempe-
rature set point via the Plus touch panel (accessory). The electrical
post heater will not be activated unless the outdoor air temperature is
below the post heater activation temperature default being 8°C. Please
note that the temperature set point is not be mistaken to be the gene-
ral indoor temperature. The general indoor temperature is to be hand-
led by the heating system.

ADDITIONAL CONTROL EQUIPMENT
HOME/AWAY SWITCH
The Home/Away switch allows you to reduce the ventilation rate. To
enable control from an Plus touch panel or
other additional control equipment connected
to the unit, the switch must be in the Home
position.
FIREPLACE OR BOOST SWITCH
The switch may be used either as a fireplace switch or a regular
boost switch. When used as a fireplace switch
it changes the pressure conditions in order to
make it easier to light a fire. When in use, the
fireplace switch overrides
any other switches.
CO2 TRANSMITTER
The CO2-switch measures the carbon dioxide level in the room and
boosts ventilation if the set point level is exceeded. When the CO2 level
drops below the set point the fans return to their previous speed.
HUMIDITY TRANSMITTER
The humidity switch boosts ventilation when the relative humidity in
the room exceeds the set point. During the cold season, the set point
should be set to approximately 50%. During the warm season, the set
point should be higher, approximately 70%. If the set point is correct
then the humidity switch boosts the ventilation when using the shower
or sauna. The normal ventilation rate is resumed after approximately
1–2 hours. During certain conditions the humidity level may be so high
that unit will stay in boost mode. In order to prevent this raise the hu-
midity set point.
4-SPEED SWITCH
The fan speeds can be set with the 4-speed switch. The switch overri-
des any other controls (with the exception of the
fireplace switch). It is possible to boost ventila-
tion even if the switch is at a lower setting.

MAINTENANCE
GENERAL
Filters, fans and the counter flow heat exchanger are very important
for the function and economy of the unit. it is therefore important that
these are kept clean and in good condition. We recommend a general
check of these parts during filter replacement, every 6 months. For sa-
fety reasons, general caution should be observed during maintenance
of the unit. If necessary, use protective gloves.
Before cleaning the fans, heat exchanger etc, the unit should always have the power
disconnected.
FILTER ALARM AND REPLACEMENT OF FILTERS
The filters for the extract- and supply air shall normally be replaced
twice a year. In areas where there is a lot of air born particles such as
cities it may be necessary to change the filters more often. The con-
trols is set to remind the user to change the filter every 6:th months.
It is possible to change the interval when using Plus touch panel.
Follow the below instruction to change the filters:
1. Open the door.
2. Disconnect the power by using the power switch on the electrical
box.
3. Remove the used supply air filters (ISO Coarse pre-filter and ISO
ePM1 55% filter) from the console.
4. Remove the extract air filter.
5. Insert the new filters
6. Turn on the power switch and close the door.
7. Reset the filter alarm (on the Plus touch panel, accessory)
Warning! When replacing dirty filters, use of a face mask is
recommended (lowest class, FFP2).
!
Note! Only use filters recommended by FläktGroup at exchange. If
incorrectly selected filters are installed, there is a risk that perfor-
mance and air quality will not be achieved. FläktGroup disclaims
warranty liability if incorrect filters are installed upon replacement.
CLEANING THE FANS
Note that the fans are not be cleaned with water or other fluids. The
fans are only to be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner or a cloth.
1. The heat exchanger is removed from the unit.
2. Remove the screws for the cover plates of the fans.
3. Disconnect the electrical contacts and remove the fans from the
unit.
4. Clean the fan and impeller.

CLEANING OF THE HEAT EXCHANGER
Check that the surface of the heat exchange is not covered in dust.
Clean by either using a vacuum cleaner, compressed air or by shower
the heat exchanger in water. If this is not sufficient, apply a grease-dis-
solving fluid such as dish soap and then shower the heat exchanger.
Note! Acetone or a similar solvent must not be used. The heat ex-
changer is not to be soaked in water etc. Do not use sharp objects.
Make sure that the heat exchanger is completely dry before rein-
stalling.
The heat exchanger is pulled out of the unit. When reinstalling make sure that all the
gaskets are in the right position.
The heat exchanger is cleaned with either a vacuum cleaner or by showered with
water.
CONDENSATION, WATER INSIDE THE UNIT
When the unit is running, moisture from the extract air may condensa-
te in the heat exchanger. This applies mainly during autumn and winter.
The amount of moisture condensated from the extract air depends
on moisture production in the house such as cooking and showering.
Typically in newly built houses the construction materials emit their
excess moisture during the first years. In the bottom of the unit there
is a drainage for removal of the condensate. It is important to regularly
check the function of drainage to prevent clogging. After the summer
the water in the water trap may have evaporated. This can result in a
gurgling noise. This can be fixed by pouring water into the condensate
drain hole located below the heat recovery unit to fill up the water trap.
Water can also be added without removing the unit by pouring water
onto the bottom of the machine, to its extract air side. The extract air
side of the machine is on the same side as the supply air filter and the
by-pass damper.
The chromed ball-fitted water trap allows for a silent and reliable the disposal of
condensate.

OVERHEATING PROTECTION, TEMPERATURE
ALARMS, OTHER ALARMS
POST HEATER ELECTRICAL
The unit has an overheating protection device that switches off the
electrical post heater if the temperature is too high. If the overheating
device has triggered then the user needs to manually reset this. See
figure below:

When the overheating protection has been triggered remove the plastic cover and
press the reset button on the front edge of the electrical box inside the unit.
Note! If the overheating protection device has been triggered it is
important to find the overall cause of the problem.
POST HEATER, WATER
The unit has a freeze protection sensor that prevents the water heater
to break. If the water temperature drops below the limit value then the
unit is stopped.
TEMPERATURE ALARM
The unit automatically identifies temperature sensor errors. In the
event of an error, arrange a service visit.

contact the person who performed the set-up. We recommend that
you write down the settings here for future reference.

Replacing the filters and cleaning the unit: Replace the filters according
to the instructions, vacuum the unit inside and wipe with a damp cloth,
if necessary. Clean the water trap at the same time.
Note! Depending on the situation it may be necessary to change
the filters more often than indicated in this manual. In that case, the
other maintenance actions should also be performed at more frequ-
ent intervals.
Checking the operation of the unit: Listen to the fan sounds (do they
both work, is the sound balanced, are there noises that may indicate
bearing faults?). Inspect the condition of the unit visually.
Cleaning the cell: Clean the cell according to the instructions. Perform
the inspection every spring and clean every 1–2 years.
Checking/cleaning the fans: Should be performed by a professional to
ensure that the fans’ balance pads do not become dislodged.
Note! The ventilation ducts should be cleaned by a professional eve-
ry 5–7 years.

DUCT CONNECTION, INSULATION OF THE DUCTS
Note! During installation, the instructions relating to the unit and
duct insulation must be adhered to without deviation. Otherwise
there is a risk of condensation and moisture resulting in a major
damage.
DUCT CONNECTION
Exhaust air from the unit should only be connected to a ventilation duct
intended for the purpose. Connection should not be made to a chimney
or a smoke or gas duct. If the unit is being used in premises with for
example an open fireplace or heating stove with a chimney or smoke
or gas duct, an adequate supply air flow must be provided. A kitchen
duct must be provided in accordance with applicable regulations. A
separate extract air valve in the kitchen is necessary when using a
cooker hood in combination with a unit that has a fifth connection.
INSULATION OF DUCTS
In order to the unit working as intended the duct system should be
installed in a professional manner in accordance with local regula-
tions and following the ventilation plans made by a professional. This
includes installation of the ducts through external walls containing
insulation and vapour barriers, external roofs and joists. If this is not
done in professional manner there is a risk for condensation, resulting
in possible damage to the unit, duct system or the structure itself due
to moisture. In the case of replacing older units, it is also necessary
to ensure the quality of the ducts and duct insulation. Supply air ducts
and extract air ducts are filled with warm air. If those ducts are placed
in unheated spaces they must be insulated. The insulation should be
applied externally and have a wind-proof surface layer. Outdoor air
ducts and exhaust air ducts are filled with cold air. If those ducts are
placed inside the building’s vapour barrier they must be insulated and
have a diffusion-proof (moisture-proof) surface layer. Given the high
degree of heat recovery achieved by unit the exhaust air also gets very
cold and must be thermally insulated.It is also important that the wall/
ceiling which the unit will be mounted on is well insulated.

INSTALLATION OPTIONS AND DUCT DEFINITIONS
If the unit is not installed immediately after delivery it should be stored
in a protected place under cover and in its original packaging. It is
recommended using some machinery while moving and lifting the unit.
Use protective gloves during the installation.
INSTALLATION OPTIONS
The unit shall be placed according to the ventilation plans made by
a professional. If there is no specific ventilation plans then the unit
should be installed according to one of the following options. The unit
is intended for indoors installation in a warm space and can be wall
mounted or ceiling mounted.

MOUNTING EXAMPLE
Caution! To avoid the risk of moisture damage to the roof
and roof insulation, the outdoor air duct should not be instal-
led horizontally inside the roof insulation. Outdoor air duct
should be insulated with 100 mm mineral wool mat with a
moisture-proof surface layer in cold spaces.
The exhaust air duct from the unit should
preferably run straight to the roof, without any
horizontal runs inside the roof insulation.

SITE OF INSTALLATION
The air handling unit should be installed in a heated space. Ambient
temperature should be above +10 °C. The ILOX 129Plus can be either
wall mounted with the mounting brackets or ceiling mounted with a
ceiling bracket.
INSTALLING THE CONDENSATE REMOVAL PIPE
At the bottom of the unit, there is an outlet (1/2“ internal thread) for
condensate removal. Fit a pipe or a rigid hose with an inner diameter
of at least 12 mm between the condensate outlet and a floor drain or
the waste connector of a wash basin. The condensate removal pipe
should not run directly into the sewer. A water trap has to be instal-
led in the condensate removal pipe. Make sure that the condensate
removal pipe is always leaning towards the floor drain or wash basin.
The condensate removal pipe should always be installed in warm con-
ditions. If the condensate removal pipe can not be installed in warm
conditions, a heating cable should be installed in order to prevent fre-
ezing. Make sure to fill up the water trap.
INSTALLING THE MOISTURE BARRIER PLATE
Routing of the ducts through the moisture barrier must be done ca-
refully. The ducts are close to each other on the top of the unit. It
is therefore difficult to seal the moisture barrier without a separate
moisture barrier plate. If the unit is placed in a washroom or utility
room, air leakage above the unit is particularly harmful due to the high
moisture content of the space. A hole smaller than 10–20 mm in di-
ameter should be cut into the sheet foam of the plate where the pipe
outlets exit the roof. The plate should be secured to the ceiling through
the side holes. The moisture barrier membrane should be tensioned
between the plate and the structure, or taped tightly to the plate.

MOUNTING OPTION, WALL
1. The wall mounting brackets (accessory) should be attached secure-
ly into a wall, preferably onto a brick, light weight concrete or con-
crete wall. If the mounting surface is a drywall or similar material,
the wall must be strengthened with a frame or a plywood board.
2. Check both vertical and horizontal alignment with a spirit level.
3. Remove the two bottom rear mounting screws.
4. Lift the bottom edge of the unit onto the lower parts of the mounting
brackets.
5. Move the unit slightly upwards, keeping it against the wall, until the
mounting projections in the upper part of the bracket are guided into
the openings of the unit.
6. Lower the unit onto the bracket
7. Fasten the bottom corners onto the brackets using the screws re-
moved earlier.

Note! Installing the unit on a bedroom boundary wall should be av-
oided due to the transmission of sound; otherwise, the transmission
of sound must be prevented using e.g. a ceiling bracket.
CONNECTING THE POST HEATER WATER COIL
Connect the water coil to the heating system of the house, for example
in parallel with the heating radiators. However, the water temperature
of an underfloor heating circuit is often too low, so connecting the coil
to a floor circuit is not recommended. Also, the coil must not be con-
nected directly to hot water from a boiler without a mixing valve.
The coil is connected to plastic pipes with a diameter of 15mm. The
pipes extend about 500 mm from the top of the unit. The supply water
should be connected to the pipe which is connected to the thermostat
valve. Heat conduit pipes should be connected above the unit with
compression connectors and support sleeves. Create an inspection
hatch If the connections are made above a false ceiling. The return
pipe must be fitted with a vent valve at the highest point. Before com-
missioning, once the system has been filled up and all air is removed,
make sure that water circulates in the coil. The system may need to
be vented once more after a few days. Also, make sure that the fans
are commissioned before the water is connected. The water flow in
the coil needs to be constant during winter time due to the danger of
freezing.
Warning! Never connect the water coil to the domestic
water supply system.

during the heating period. Also, the shut-off valves for the
coil should never be closed.

MOUNTING OPTION, CEILING
1. Secure the ceiling bracket to the ceiling structure using four 8 mm
threaded rods.
2. The bracket should be installed with the mounting hooks pointing
downwards and the ducts as the figure shows. The figure shows
outlets for a right-handed unit (Model R).
3. Flange nuts should be fitted above the frame, and a conical rubber,
washer and locking nut should be fitted underneath the frame.
4. Pre-tighten the locking nut manually approximately two turns (the
rubber should shorten about 2 mm).
5. Cut off the threaded rods, leaving the ends of the rods above the
lower edge of the frame.
Note! The bottom of the frame should be installed no more than
10–20 mm above the finished ceiling surface, so that the unit door
can still open.
Warning! When using a ceiling mounting frame, it is especi-
ally important to make sure that the unit is properly secured
to the ceiling mounting frame. When the unit engages the
frame, you should hear a clear “click” on both sides of the
ceiling mounting frame.

REMOVING THE UNIT FROM THE CEILING
4. The ceiling mount rails slide in the ceiling mount frame, as in the
image, and release the ventilation unit.
3. Release the mounting from the ceiling mount frame by pushing
back the ceiling mount rail that is visible through the holes in the
front of the frame. This should be done on both sides of the frame.
1. Remove the front panel from the front of the frame by taking out the
2 screws. Then push the front panel upwards to re move it.
2. Support the ventilation unit from underneath so that it does not fall
when the rails are released.

Connections to the external junction box
The control board inside the unit is used to make the physical connec-
tions required for external control and to connect any of the following:
carbon dioxide transmitter, carbon dioxide switch, humidity transmitter,
humidity switch, emergency stop switch, Home/Away switch and fire-
place boost switch.
Note! Extra length must be allowed for the cables, so that the inside
of the electrical box can be pulled out sufficiently for installation.

ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION
The air handling unit is equipped with a plug connector, which can
be plugged directly into a wall socket that has an earth connector.
Electrical installation and connections for the unit must be made by
a qualified electrician. The unit is equipped with a service switch for
switching off the power. When installing accessories or other electrical
connections, power should be switched off by disconnecting the plug
from the socket. The unit is equipped with an external connection box
for connecting some of the basic accessories of the unit.
EXTERNAL CONNECTION BOX
An external connection box is used to make the most common control
connections related to the unit. The external connection box is moun-
ted above the unit or in the ceiling, next to the service hatch.
