Quick Reference Guide
This is a CLIA waived system.
1
Place the meter on a level surface or
hold it steady in your hand. Switch the
meter on.
2
Ensure that the display is on and that all
display elements are displayed correctly.
Check the time and date (if you want to
save this information with the result).
The Accutrend Plus meter is used
for the quantitative measurement of
glucose and cholesterol in capillary
whole blood. The meter is suitable
for professional use as well as for
self- testing.
Please note:
This Quick Reference Guide is
not intended as an alternative
to reading the User’s Manual.
Please read the Accutrend
Plus User’s Manual carefully
before using the meter for the
first time.
The following steps describe a
cholesterol test but can likewise be
performed for a glucose test.
4
With the chamber flap closed, insert
the code strip as far as it will go and
remove it immediately.
5
Successful coding is confirmed by a
short beep (if the beeper option is
enabled) and the code is displayed
by the meter. If an error occurs or if
the code is not displayed, repeat
the process after a few seconds.
3
Insert a code strip as shown. Do not
touch the printed area behind the black
bar or on the back of the strip.
If no code has ever been stored,
codenr flashes with three dashes.
Otherwise the last stored code is
displayed.
You must code the meter
every time you open a new
test strip container.
7
Hold the test strip as shown and insert
it as far as possible. If the strip is correctly
inserted you will hear two beeps (if the
beeper option is enabled). The code
number of the Accutrend Cholesterol
test strip is displayed.
6
Remove an Accutrend Cholesterol test
strip from the container. Always close
the container again immediately. The
cap contains a drying agent to protect
the strips from humidity.
8
Open the measurement chamber flap.
9
Use a lancing device to pierce a finger
and obtain a hanging drop of blood.

For blood application inside the meter:
Apply the hanging drop of blood
immediately from the finger to the
yellow application area of the Accutrend
Cholesterol test strip. Do not touch the
application area with your finger.
Continue with step (12).
11
For blood application outside the meter:
Remove the Accutrend Cholesterol test
strip and leave the flap open. Apply the
hanging drop of blood immediately
from the finger to the yellow application
area of the test strip. Do not let the
application area come into contact with
your skin. Insert the Accutrend
Cholesterol test strip back into the
meter.
You can apply blood with the strip
inside or outside the meter.
To avoid incorrect results, make sure
the application area is completely
covered with blood.
Measurement starts.
Result displays after:
When the measurement is complete
the meter beeps (if the beeper
option is enabled) and the result is
displayed.
Results falling outside the
measurement range are displayed as
Hi (above the measurement range)
or Lo (below the measurement
range).
To perform a Glucose test, follow the
same simple steps using the
Accutrend Glucose test strip.
Glucose: 12 seconds
