A. Fire Safety
To provide reasonable re safety, the following should be

Follow the detector’s manufacturer’s placement and

C. Fuel Material and Fuel Storage
Pellet fuel quality can greatly uctuate.  We recommend
thatyou buy fuel complying withthe wood pellet standard
AS/NZS 4014.6:2008 However, we do recommend trying
various brands before purchasing multi-ton lots to ensure
yoursatisfaction.

D. General Operating Information
1. Turning On/Off
Therehastwoswitchesonthebackofthereone
toturnthereonandoffthesecondistheheatoutput
control(see“Figure9.1”onpage9).Toturnthere
onpresstheON/OFFswitchtotheonpositiontherewill
thengothroughitsstart-upsequence.
Theresalsohavetheoptionofaroomthermostat,when
thethermostatcallsforheat,therewillautomatically
lightanddeliverheat.
Whentheroomisuptotemperatureandthethermostatis
satised,theappliancewillshutdown(notrecommended
forolderdraftyhouses)

E. Before Your First Fire
1. First, make sure your appliance has been properly
installedandthatallsafetyrequirementshavebeenmet.
Payparticularattention to thereprotection, venting
andthermostatinstallationinstructions.
2. Doublecheckthattheashdrawerandreboxareempty!
3. Closethefrontdoor.
G. Starting Your First Fire
1. MakesurethehopperisfullofpelletsandtheON/OFF
switchisintheOFFposition.Plugthereintoapower
socket
2. When powered up the exhaust blower will stay on for
approximately18minuteseventhoughthereisnocall
forheat.Thisisnormal.
3. Locatetheheatoutputcontrolswitchmountedontheback
oftheapplianceintheupperleftcorner(Figure9.1).
4. Turnittothe“high”settingbypushingthetopofthecontrol
switchin.
5. TurnthereonusingtheOn/Offswitch
6. Lookthroughtherearpanelandyouwillseetheredcall
lightonthecontrolboxwillbeon.Thisindicatesthereis
acallforheat.
7. Thefuelfeedsystemandtheignitershouldnowbeon.
8. Foryourrstreitwillbenecessarytopressthereset
buttononceapproximatelytwominutesafterstartupand
againinveminutes.Thiswillllthefeedsystemand
allow the appliance to begin dropping pellets. Or you
canputahandfulofpelletsintherepottospeedupthe
process.Theappliancewillcontinuetorunaslongas
thereisacallforheat.
9. Oncetheappliancehasignited,letitburnforapproximately
15minutes.Forcommissioningtheinstaller/technician
willthenneedtosetthedraftonthere(see“Reference
Materials”onpage30)Youcannowadjusttheheatoutput
controlswitchtothedesiredsetting.

F. Filling the Hopper with Fuel
1. Liftupthehopperlidandlockintoopenposition.Now
youcanllthehopperwithfuel.
2. Donotoverllthehopper.Thelidmustbecompletely
closedtomaintainpropervacuumandforthefeedmotor
tooperate.
3. Thehopperswitchisdesignedtoshutdownthefeed
motorwhenthehopperlidisopen.
4. Donotleaveanypartofthefuelbagontheappliance
afterrellinghopper.
5. Storefuelawayfromtheappliancetomaintainproper
safeairclearancetocombustibles.
2. Heat Output Controls
Thisapplianceisequippedwithaheatoutputcontrol
switchthathasthreesettingsorburnrates;low,medium
andhigh.“Figure9.1”
Therewillstartupandrunonhighfor15minutesto
warmtheueandthenrunastheburnrateforwhichitis
set.Iftheapplianceissetatoneofthelowersettings,it
willrunquieterbuttakelongertoheatupanareathanifit
weresetatahigherburnrate.
NOTE: The tip of the thermocouple must be in contact
with the inside end of the thermocouple cover or missed
ignitions can occur.

H. Fire Characteristics
Aproperlyadjustedrewiththeheatoutputcontrolswitchset
on“high”hasashortactiveamepatternthatextendsoutof
therepotapproximately102to203mm.Theamewillrise
andfallsomewhat.Thisisnormal.
Iftherehastallameswithblacktailsandseemssomewhat
lazy,thisindicatedinsufcientairforthevolumeoffuelbeing
burnt.Checkthereisclean,theairintakeisclearandseals
areintact.
I. Iginition Cycles
1. Atthebeginningofeachignitioncycle,itisnormaltosee
somesmokeintherebox.Thesmokewillstoponce
therestarts.
2. The convection blower will automatically turn on after
yourappliancehasbeenburningforapproximately10
minutes.
3. Thisblowertransfersheatfromyourapplianceintothe
room,andwillcontinuetorunafterthethermostathas
stoppedcallingforheatuntiltheappliancehascooled
down.
4.
Occasionallytheappliancemayrunoutoffuelandshut
itselfdown.Whenthishappens,theredcalllightwillbe
on.
5. Torestartit,llthehopperandpresstheresetbutton.
Whenyoupresstheresetbuttontheredcalllightwillgo
out.Releasethebuttonandthelightwillcomebackon.
6. Youshouldseeareshortly.Ifnot,followtheinstructions
onpage 9of“StartingYourFirstFire”.

howoftenyouhavetocleanyourrepot.
Ifthefuelyouareburninghasahighdirtorashcontentit
maybenecessarytocleantherepotmorethanonceaday.
Dirtyfuelwillcauseclinkerstoformintherepot.Aclinker
is formed when dirt, ash or a non-burnable substance is
heatedto1093°Candbecomesglass-like.Seepage 15in

Disconnecttheblueandwhitewiresfromthecombustionblower.

4. Removecasttopfromappliance.Twofastenersarelocatedout-

sevenscrews.Liftslightlyupwardsastonotdamagethehopper

2. Thewireleadstotheigniterareconnectedtothewire
harnesswith1/4inchmale/femalespadeconnectors.
Disconnect the spade connections and remove the
igniter from the chamber. Loosen thumb screw and
slideigniterout.
3. Installnewigniterintothechamberandtightenthumb
screw.Re-connectthewirestothe2leadswiththe
spadeconnectors.
4. Doublecheckthat the igniter wiresare clear ofany
movement, i.e. ash drawer, firepot cleaning rod,
cleaningslideplates,etc.
5. Re-installtheashdrawerandsidepanelandre-connect
thepower.
E. Bafe & Brick Set Removal
1. FollowpropershutdownproceduresinSection10.
2. The top bafe has a hook on the bottom left side that
restsonthetoplipofthecastbrick.Thereisatabon
the bottom right side that hooks into the side bracket.
Removethetopbafebyrstpullingthebafe forward
untilbackedgedropsdown.Thenslidebafebackuntil
thefrontedgeclearstheshelfthatithadbeenrestingon.
