E. Before Your First Fire
1. First, make sure your appliance has been properly
installedandthatallsafetyrequirementshavebeenmet.
Payparticularattentiontothereprotection,ventingand
thermostatinstallationinstructions.
2. Doublecheckthattheashdrawerandreboxareempty!
3. Closethefrontdoor.
IMPORTANT DETAIL: The tip of the thermocouple must
be in contact with the inside end of the thermocouple
cover or missed ignitions can occur.
G. Starting Your First Fire
1. A thermostat is required for proper operation of this
appliance.Atthistime,llthehopperwithpellets,set
thethermostattoitslowestsetting.Plugthepowercord
intonearbyoutlet.
2. The exhaust blower will stay on for approximately 18
minutes even though the thermostat is not calling for
heat.Thisisnormal.

ocate the heat output control switch mounted on the
backoftheapplianceintheupperrightcorner.Figure
9.1. Turnittothe“high”settingbypushing the top of
thecontrolswitchinandthenadjustthethermostattoits
highestsetting.Removetherightsidepanelandthered
calllightlocatedtotheleftofthecontrolboxwillbeon.

Thefuelfeedsystemandtheignitershould
now
beon.
5. Foryourrstreitwillbenecessarytopressthereset
buttononceapproximately2minutesafterstartupand
againin5minutes.Thiswillllthefeedsystemandallow
theappliancetobegindroppingpellets.Theappliance
willcontinuetorunaslongasthethermostatiscalling
forheat.
D. General Operating Information
1. Thermostat Calls For Heat
The appliance is like most modern furnaces; when the
thermostatcallsforheat,yourappliancewill automatically
lightanddeliverheat.Whentheroomisuptotemperature
andthethermostatissatised,theredcalllightwillgooff
andtheappliancewillshutdown.
2. Heat Output Controls
Thisapplianceisequippedwithaheatoutputcontrolswitch
thathasthreesettingsorburnrates;low,mediumandhigh.
Theappliancewillturnonandoffasthethermostatdemands.
Whenthethermostatcallsforheat,theappliancewillstart
upattheburnrateforwhichitisset.Iftheapplianceisset
atoneofthelowersettings,itwillrunquieterbuttakelonger
toheatupanareathanifitweresetatahigherburnrate.
Regardlessoftheburnrate,whentheareaiswarmenough
tosatisfythethermostat,theappliancewillshutoff.

F. Filling the Hopper with Fuel
1. Openthehopperlidandpullthelidtowardsyou.Thelid
cannowserveasashelftosupportthebagoffuel.
2. Donotoverllthehopper.Thelidmustbecompletely
closedtomaintainpropervacuumandforthefeedmotor
tooperate.An error message willappearon the wall
controlifthelidisnotproperlyclosed.
3. Removeany sawdust or fuel from the lid gasket after
rellinghopper.
4. Donotleaveanypartofthefuelbagontheappliance
afterrellinghopper.
5. Storefuelawayfromtheappliancetomaintainproper
safeairclearancetocombustibles.
