The PEL-2000A upgrade guide provides instructions on how to upgrade the software of the PEL-2000 mainframe to version V2.XX. This upgrade allows the mainframe to control both PEL-2000 and PEL-2000A load modules at the same time.

Introduction:
The PEL-2000A mainframe is downward compatible with the PEL-2000 series load
modules and it can host both PEL-2000A and PEL-2000 load modules together.
The PEL-2000 mainframe with software version V1.XX is not able to control
PEL-2000A load modules. Therefore, it needs to be upgraded to PEL-2000A by the
mean of software upgrade (software V2.XX) in order to be able to host both PEL-2000
and PEL-2000A load modules.
PEL-2000 software upgrading procedure:
1. Check the software version of the PEL-2000 mainframe.
1.1 Press the Shift button on the mainframe. Then press the Help button to enter the
Utility function menu.
1.2 Press the F1 button to enter the System Info menu.
1.3 Check the mainframe’s software version. If MainFrame Ver: shows version
1.XX, please follow the below procedure to upgrade.
2. PEL-2000 software upgrade procedure (PEL-2000 to PEL-2000A mainframe
upgrade) :
2.1 Do not insert any load modules when you upgrade the software for the first
time (see 2.5 below).
2.2 Insert a USB flash drive containing the V2_XX.UPG software on the front panel
USB slot of the mainframe.

2.3 Press the FILE button on the mainframe. Press the F1 key to select Media USB.
Press F5 key to enter the File Utility.
2.4 Select the path where the software is located on the flash driver. The
V2_XX .UPG must be highlighted in blue. Press F1 button to start upgrading.
2.5 Upgrade the software a second time:
2.4.1 When the original PEL-2000 mainframe is upgraded to V2_XX .UPG for the
first time, please don’t insert any load modules as said at step 2.1. Wait until
the first upgrade completes.
2.4.2 After the first upgrade has finished, insert the load modules and perform the
upgrade operation a second time. If load modules were inserted during the
first upgrade, the PEL-2000 mainframe might hang up.
3. Software upgrading procedure is completed.
After the above steps are completed, the software version of the mainframe is now
that of the PEL-2000A. This software version allows such a PEL mainframe to control
both PEL-2000 and PEL-2000A load modules at the same time. Both load modules can
be mixed together.
