MMT2 MODULE

FUNCTION

ALLOWS THE CONNECTION OF STANDARD MICROPHONES OR AUDIO SOURCES

AND SENDS MESSAGES TO PRE-SET ZONES

DESCRIPTION

In order to address a message with the microphone or audio source connected to this

module, the front "ON" pushbutton should be pressed or the "ON REMOTE" switch should

be activated remotely. The module addresses the message as long as the "ON" switch is

active.

However, the special

Voice Over

function broadcasts the message without the need for

manually activating the "ON" or "ON REMOTE" switch. The

Voice Over

function, which can

be enabled by setting an internal jumper, activates the module automatically when an

incoming signal is detected, be it from a microphone or from an audio source. The module

automatically deactivates itself after 3 seconds without any signal input.

The spoken message may or may not respect the priority system. If the module is

configured to operate with priorities, the zone structure and the priority hierarchy is

preserved (the microphone signal attenuates the music). If the module is configured to

operate without priorities (BGA), the microphone signal is mixed with BGM and both

signals will get attenuated whenever a high priority message (spoken message or alarm)

takes over the system.

A specially designed tone control is built in to enhance voice intelligibility in problematic set-ups.

The volume control is associated with to a bi-colored LED indicator, which helps when adjusting the optimal audio level (it should

light green, not red).

The LINE input (RCA connectors) presents an input sensibility of -10dBV / 1K8.

The sensibility of the MICRO input (XLR-3 connector) can be configured with jumpers in order to adapt to different microphone

types (dynamic, condenser, electret, wireless...) and also to line level signals. Microphones which need Phantom power can also be

used with this module, for that purpose an internal jumper should be set.

CONNECTING THE MMT2

To carry out the connection of this module you should follow the steps indicated in the figure on next page:

 Choose an operating mode with the jumper marked with nr.1: This module can operate respecting the priority and zone

system (ALAR) or as BGA.

ATTENTION: You can have only one module acting as BGA. Remember that to work in this operating mode, you must

remove all zone assignment and priority jumpers.

 If you decide the module to work in ALAR. mode, select now its priority. To do that, you will have to place two PRIORITY

jumpers according to the priority you wish this module to have. (indication nr.2 of the figure on next page). For example:

To set the priority to 3, place the two jumpers at positions J112 and J115.

ATTENTION: There can only be one module with Priority 1. Remember that every module containing

PRIORITY

information must be mounted on the same chassis.

 If you configure the module to operate in ALAR. mode, define now the zone or zones to which the message has to be sent

by means of the jumpers indicated with nr.3. For example: If you wish the module to act in zones 3 and 5, insert two

jumpers at position J118 and J121.

 Set the input sensibility of the XLR-3 connector with the jumpers indicated with nr. 4: ATT: -30dBV / 1K8 NOT ATT: -

50dBV / 1K8 and LINE: -10dBV / 1K8.

Use the following table, where X means that the jumper is inserted.

 If you are going to use a microphone that requires Phantom power, insert a jumper in the position indicated with nr. 5.

When inserted, the phantom power is enabled; when not, it is disabled.

 Choose whether the module should activate using the

Voice Over

function or not. For that purpose, set the jumper

indicated with nr.6 to ON or OFF.

ATTENTION: This Jumper must be set either ON or OFF. The module would otherwise not operate correctly.

 Insert and screw the module and the chassis together in the front and back panels.

 Connect the data buses (Flat 10- and 20-way cables) to the connectors marked with nr. 7 in the next figure.

 Link together the front and back panel. In this case you will have to connect following connector pair marked with nr. 8:

J120-WI101.

 Once the complete installation of one or various chassis and the peripherals connections to ENVIRO has been carried out,

you should adjust the volume of this module so that the SIGNAL LEVEL LED lights up green while talking normally. As the

final step in the modules configuration, you may wish to adjust the tone controls.
