• Donotallowplasticobjects,sugar,orfoodswith highsugarcontentto meltontothe
hctcooktop. Melted materialscan cause permanent damageto thecooktop. Ifyou
accidentally melt anythingontothe cooktop,ora sugarysolutionboilsover, remove
it immediatelywhilethecooktop isstillhot. Carefully, useasingle edge razor blade
held with apot holder to scrapethe melted material or sugary boilover to acooler
areaofthecooktop. Useseverallayersofpapertowel towipeupthespillover, being
carefulnot to bum yourself.When theelement hascooled, usetherazor bladeto
scrape off the remainingsoiland clean as you wouldfor heavy spills. (See p. 16.)
•Do not usealuminumfoil or foil-type containers under any circumstances. Alumi-
numfoilwilldamagethecooktopif itmeltsontotheglass. If metalmeltsoncook'top,
do not use. Call an authorized Jenn-Air Service Contractor.
• Do not use theglass-ceramiccooktop as a cutting board.
• DoNOTuseabrasivecleansingpowders orscouringpads (includingmetalscouring
pads),which will scratch the cooktop.
• Do NOT use chlorine bleach, ammonia, rust removers, oven cleaners,or other
cleanser not specifically recommended for use on glass-ceramic.
•Makesurebottomsofcookpotsare alwayscleanand dry. (Soil fromthecookpot
bottomcanbetransferredtothecooktopsurface.) Beforeusingcookpotsonthe
glass-ceramiccooktopfor the first time, and periodicallyas needed, clean the
bottomswithscouringpads or othercleansers. Rinseand dry thoroughly.
•Makeita practicetowipecooktopsurfacewitha clean dampclothorpapertowel
beforeeachuse;drythoroughly.Invisiblespatters,dustspecks,cleansersorwater
cancausestainsthatappearafter unit isheated.A spongeordishclothwhichis
notcleanwillleavefilmand soilladendetergentwaterwhichmaycausestainson
surfaceafterarea is heated.
•Whenfrying, usea spattershieldto reducespattering.
•Usecorrectcontrolsettingsand cookwarelargeenoughto holdfoodand liquidto
preventboiloversand spattering.
•Ifa badspilloveroccurswhilecooking,spillsmaybecleanedfromthecooktopwhile
itishotto preventa toughcleaningchorelater. Usingextremecare, wipewitha
cleandamptowel. Becarefultoavoidbumsfromsteamor handstouchingthehot
cooktop.
