InstallationOverview
Whenchoosingalocationforyournewstove,thereareamultitudeof
factorsthatshouldbetakenintoaccountbeforebeginningtheinstallation.
1. TrafficPatternsTohelppreventaccidents,thestoveshouldbeplaced
inalocationwhereitisoutofthewayofnormaltravelthroughthe
home.
2. HeatFlowWhe
ndecidingonalocationforthestove,considertheway
heatmovesthroughoutyourhome.Installthestovewhereyouneed
theheat;basementinstallationsoftendonotallowsufficientheatto
flowtotheupperfloorsandatopfloorinstallationwillnotallow any
heattore
achthefloorsbelow.Alwaysconsiderthatheatrisesandwill
takethepathofleastresistancewhileitisstillhot.
3. ExhaustLocationOutsidewallsaregenerallythebestplacetoinstalla
stove,sincetheyalloweasyexhaustandintakeairinstallation(usingou
r
SimpsonDuraVentAC3000Kit).Ifthereisnotafeasiblewaytoinstall
thestoveonanoutsidewall,therearemethodsforventingthestoveup
throughtheroof,buttheytendtobemorecostlybecausetheyinvolve
theuseofmorepelletventpipeandcanoftenmakeoutsideair
ins
tallationmoredifficult.
4. WallConstructionLocatingthestovesothattheexhaustsystemcan
passbetweenstudswillsimplifytheinstallationandeliminatetheneed
toreframeanysectionsofthewalltoaccommodatethewallthimble.

Donotstoreorusegasolineorotherflammablevaporsandliquidsinthevicinityof
thisoranyotherappliance.

Thispelletstoveoperatesonanegativedraftsystem,whichpullscombustionair
throughtheburnpotandpushestheexhaustairthroughtheventpipeandoutofthebuilding.
Thisunitmustbeinstalledinaccordancewiththefollowingdetaileddescriptionsofventing
techniques;notinstallingthestoveinaccordancewiththedetailslistedherecanresultinpoor
stoveperformance,propertydamage,bodilyinjuryordeath.England’sStoveWorksisnot
responsibleforanydamageincurredduetoapoororunsafeinstallation.

VentingGuidelines
ALWAYSinstallventpipeinstrictadherencewiththeinstructionsandclearances
includedwithyourventingsystem.
DONOTconnectthispelletstovetoachimneyfluewhichalsoservesanotherappliance.
DONOTinstallafluepipedamperoranyotherrestrictivedeviceintheexhaustventing
systemofthisunit.
USEanapprovedwallthimblewhenpassingthroughawallandaceilingsupport/fire
stopwhenpassingthroughaceiling.
ONLYuse3.0”or4.0”TypeLorTypePLpipeapprovedforpelletstoveventing;DONOT
usegalvanizedorBVentpipe.
SEALeachjointofpelletventwithhightemperaturesilicone(Part#ACRTV3)to
preventsmokespillageintothehome.
AVOIDexcessivehorizontalrunsandelbows,asbothwillreducethedraftoftheventing
systemandwillresultinpoorstoveperformance.
INCLUDEasmuchverticalpipeaspossibletopreventsmokefromtheunitfromentering
yourhomeintheeventofapoweroutage.

Donotmixandmatchcomponentsfromdifferentpipemanufacturerswhenassembling
yourventingsystem(i.e.DoNOTuseventingpipefromonemanufacturerandathimble
fromanother).
Werequireaminimumverticalriseof36in.(3ft.)ofpipetocreatenaturaldraftinthe
system,whichhelpsevacuatesmokefromthestoveintheeventofapowerfailureor
combustionblowerfailure.
Ventingsystems15.0ft.orshortermaybecomposedentirelyof3.0in.pelletpipe;to
reducefrictionallosses,ventingsystemslongerthan15.0ft.shouldbecomposedof4.0
in.pelletpipe.
Donotterminatetheventingsystemdirectlybeneathanycombustiblestructuresuchas
aporchordeck.
FollowNFPA211ruleslistedbelowforventingsystemterminationlocationrelativeto
windowsandotheropeningsinthedwelling.

Wherepassagethroughawall,orpartitionofcombustiblematerialisdesired,the
installationshallconformtoCAN/CSAB365.

Generallythesimplestinstallationmethod,
ventingthroughthewallusingourAC3000
kit(orsimilarventingsystem)isalsothe
preferredventingmethod.Itminimizes
horizontalpipe,allowsthestovetobe
installedclosetothewallandkeepsthe
cleanoutteeontheoutsideofthehouse,
foreaseofcleaning.
Wheninstallinganyventingsystem,TypeL
orTypePLpipemustbeusedandall
clea
rancestocombustibles(listedbythe
pipemanufacturer)mustbestrictly
adheredto.
Usethepipemanufacturer’sapproved
thimbleforpassingthroughacombustible
wall,andmaintainatleasttheminimumclearancestocombustibles.
Useanappliancecollarwherethepelletventconnectstotheexhaustoutputofthepellet
stoveandattachtheappliancecollartotheexhaustbloweroutputusingthreesheetmetal
screws.
Securethepelletventtotheoutsideofthehouseusingawallstrapjustbelowthe90
degreeelbow.
SealeachpipeconnectionjointwithhightemperatureRTVSilicone,toensurethesystemis
leakfree(Checkwiththespecificventingsystemmanufacturer’sinstructionsbeforedoing
so).
Ifthepelletventpipebeingusedisnota“TwistLo
ck”system,three(3)sheetmetalscrews
arerequiredateachpipejoint.
Connectthepelletstovetooutsidecombustionairusingthekitincludedwithyourstoveor
usinganalternativemethod,asdescribedinthe“OutsideAir”section,onpage14.

Ifthepelletventpipebeingusedisnota“TwistLock”system,three(3)sheetmetalscrews

Connectthepelletstovetooutsidecombustionairusingthekitincludedwithyourstoveor
usinganalternativemethod,asdescribedinthe“OutsideAir”section,onpage14.
Thisventingmethodcanalsobemodifiedsothattheventingsystemrunshorizonta
lly
throughthewallfromthestove,thentransitionstoverticalandterminatesabovethe
roofline.Whenusingthismodifiedversionofthisinstallationbecertaintocarefullyfollow
theventingsystemmanufacturer’sinstructionsdiligently.

Usinganexistingmasonryorfactorybuiltchimneyfor
ventingistheonlyotheracceptablemethodfor
ventingthispelletunit.
UseTypeLorTypePLventingpipeuntilenteringthe
existingchimney.Usetheappropriatelysizedadapter
whentransitioningfromthepelletventpipetothe
masonryorfactorybuiltthimbleandbecertainthat
theadapterissealedtightlytoboththepelletventing
systemandtheexistingchimney.
Beforeusinganexistingchimney,becertainitisin
goodcondition(Achimneysweepinspectionishighly
recommended).Also,makesurethechimneymeets
theminimumstandardslistedinNFPA211(A
chimneyprofessionalcanconfirmthisupon
inspection).
Ifconnectingthisstovetoafactorybuiltchimney,it
mayONLYbea6”flue,UL103HTventingsystem.
Connectiontoanyotherfactorybuiltchimneymay
resultinapoorlyoperatingordangerousstove
installation.
Whenconnectingtoanexistingmasonrychimney,thecrosssectionalareaofthefluemust
beconsidered.Achimneywithafluelargerthan6”round(28.27sq.in.)mayrequire
reliningwithanapprovedpelletstovechimneyliningsystem.
Useanappliancecollarwherethepelletventco
nnectstotheexhaustoutputofthepellet
stoveandattachtheappliancecollartotheexhaustbloweroutputusingthreesheetmetal
screws.
SealeachpipeconnectionjointwithhightemperatureRTVSilicone,toensurethesystemis
leakfree(Checkwiththespecificpipemanufacturer’sinstructionsbeforedoingso).
Ifthepelletventpipebeingusedisnota“TwistLock”system,three(3)sheetmetalscrews

ThepelletstoveMUSTbesecuredtothefloorofthemobilehomeusinglagboltsandthe
holesprovidedinthebottomofthebaseforthispurpose.Outdoorairedspaceheaters
mustbeattachedtothestructure.
ThepelletstoveMUSTbegroundedwith#8soli
dcoppergroundingwire(orequivalent),
terminatedateachendwithanNECapprovedgroundeddevice.
CarefullyfollowallclearanceslistedintheappropriatesectionofthismanualANDfollow
theventingmanufacturer’sminimu
mclearancerequirements.Similarly,becertainthe
ventingsystemusedisapprovedformobilehomeuse.
InstallationmustbeinaccordancewithManufacturersHome&SafetyStandard(HUD)CFR
3280,Part24aswellasanyapplicablelocalcodes.
Usesiliconetocreateaneffectivevaporbarrieratthelocationwherethechimneyor
outsideairductingpassesthroughtotheexteriorofthestructure.

Theuseofoutsidecombustionairismandatoryonthispelletstove.
Theoutsideairconnectionpipeprotrudesfromthelowerrearcenterofthestove;usethe
includedoutsideairkittoattachyourstovetooutsidecombustionair.Instructionsandall
thepartsneededtomaketheoutsideairconnectiontoyourpelletstoveareinclud
edwith
theoutsideairkit.
Ifitisnotfeasibletousetheincludedoutsideairhookupkitinyourstoveinstallation,other
materialsmaybeused,providedthefollowingrulesarefollowed:
o Thepipeusedforoutsideairhookupmustbemetal,withaminimumthicknessof
.0209in.(25gaugemildsteel)orgreaterandaninsidediameterofapproximately
2.0in.
o Allpipejointsandconnectionsshouldbesealedwithpipeclampsorother
mechanicalmeans,toinsurealeakfreeoutsideairconnection.
o Longrunsofpipeandexcessiveelbowsforoutsideairshouldbeavoided.Dueto
frictionalresistanceinpipe,anyexcessiveoutsideairpipingcanresultinpoorstove
performance.
o Ascreenorotherprotectiondevicemustbefittedovertheoutsideairtermination
pointtopreventrain,debrisandnuisanceanimalsfromenteringthepipingsystem.
o Increasetheoutsideairpipesizeto3.0in.diameterpipeiftheoutsideair
connectionismorethan6ft.inlength,morethantwo(2)elbowsareusedorifthe
stoveisinstalledinabasement.
Theoutsideairconnectionsystemshouldbeinspectedatleastannuallytobecertainitis
freefromblockage.

GettingStarted
Checktoseethatthehopperiscleanandfreefromforeignmaterials.Besuretoconnect
thisunittoaworkingoutlet;werecommendusingasurgeprotectortohelpprotectthe
electroniccomponentsfromdamage.
BEFOREyourfirstfire,dryrunyourunit(nopelletfuelinthehopper)fortwentyminutes;
pressingthe“ON”buttonwiththeunitpluggedinwillinitiatethedryrun.
o Oncethe“ON”buttonispressed,youshouldimmediatelyheartheexhaustblower
startandoperatecontinuously.
o Afteraboutthreetofiveminutes,lookfortheredglowoftheigniterintheigniter
portoftheburnpottobecertainitisoperatingnormally.
o Holdthehopperlidswitch(See“IllustratedPartsDiagram”pg.38)downwithyour
fingerandchecktoseethattheaugeristurning.Releasethehopperlidswitchand
becertainthattheaugerstopsturning.DONOTPUTYOURFINGERSINTHE
HOPPERORNEARTHEROTATINGAUGER.
Afterabouttwentyminutes,thecontrolboardshoulddisplay“E2”inthetwodisplay
windows(MoreinformationonErrorCodescanbefoundintheErrorCodesectionofthis
manual).
Atthispoint,thedryruniscompleteandyourpelletheatingapplianceisreadyfornormal
operation.
LightingaFire
Inorderforthisstovetooperate,thehoppermustfirstbefilledwithpelletfuel.Liftthe
hopperlidusingtheflushmounthandleandpourthepelletfueldirectlyintothehopper.
WerecommendusingonlypelletsmanufacturedbyPFICertifiedfacilities,since
pelletsbearingthePFIstampofapprovalwillbelowinashandmoisture,highin
BTU’s,anduniforminsizeandquality.
Thispelletstovewillperformequallywellusingsoftwoodandhardwoodpellets,and
althoughtheashmaydifferslightlyinappearanceortexture,bothtypesofpelletswillburn
cleanlyandefficientlyinthisstove.
Thispelletstoveisequippedwithanautomaticpelletignitionsystem;theonlyuserinput
requiredtolightthestoveisasimplepressofthe“On”button.

Shortlyafterpressingthe“On”button,thelettersSUwillappearintheheatrangeand
blowerspeedwindowsofthecontrolboard.Thisindicatesthestovehasenteredthestart
upsequenceandisoperatingnormally.
Thefuelfeedrateandcombustionairduringstartupisdeterminedbythecontrolboard,so
thestovemaybestartedonanyheatrange.
Afterappro
ximatelyfifteenminutes,thefireshouldbeburningbrightlyandtheSU
shoulddisappearfromthecontrolboard.Atthispoint,thestovehasbegunnormal
operationandthedisplaywindowsonthecontrolboardwillremainempty,unlesstheHeat
RangeorBlowerSpeedisadjusted.
DailyOperationNotes
Onlyhighquality,¼”(.25in.)diameterwoodpellets,shouldbeusedinthisstove.Usinglow
gradewoodpelletswithhighashcontentORwoodpelletswithahighmoisturecontent
cancausetheburnpottofillwithashatamorerapidpaceandcancauseintervalsbetween
periodicmaintenancetobecomesignificantlyshorter.Pleasereadthe“Maintenance”
sectionofthismanualthoroughlytounderstandhowfuelselectionaffectsstoveoperation,
maintenanceandcleaning.
Variationintheflameheightisnormal;notallwoodpelletfuelisuniforminsize,whichcan
affectthewaypelletsarefedintotheburnpot.Althoughtheflameheightmayincreaseand
decreaseduringoperation,thereisnolossofefficiency.
Alwaysstorewoodpelletfuelinadrylocation;storingwoodpelletfuelinadrylocation
ensuresthefuelwillremainpelletizedandlowinmoisturecontent.Also,becertainthatall
woodpelletfuelisstoredatasafedistancefromthepelletheater;storingfuelinclose
proximitytothestovecanresultinafire.
Thispelletburningroomheaterisequippedwithaspeciallydesignedburnpotwhichcomes
preinstalledfromthefactory.Thisburnpotelevatestheburningpelletsanddeliversairat
theprecis
erequiredlocations.Pelletsmustonlybeburnedinthefactoryburnpot;no
modificationsshouldbemadetothisburnpotandnoadditionalgratesorotherfire
elevatorsshouldbeadded.

Thecontrolboardonthisstoveallowstheusertoadjusttheheatoutputandconvection
blowerspeed,turntheunitonandoff,andtestcomponentsforfunction(moreondiagnostic
modelater).
Thelowerbuttonsonthecontrolboard(LowFuelFeed,LowBurnAir,andAironTe
mp)are
notmeanttobeadjustedduringnormaloperationoftheunit.Thesebuttonsarefactory
presetandcannotbeadjustedbytheuser.
Toenergizetheunitandinitiateafire,pressthe“On”button.TheLEDabovethebutton
shouldturngreenandthecontrolboardshoulddisplay“SU”shortlyafterpressingthe
button.
Tosh
uttheunitdown,pressthe“Off”button.TheLEDabovethebuttonshouldtur nred
andtheboardshoulddisplay“Sd”shortlyafterpressingthebutton.Thisinitiatestheshut
downsequence,andthestovewillremaininshutdownmodeuntilithascooleddown.
Toincreasetheheatoutputofthestove,pressthe“Up”heatrangebutton.Thenumberin
theheatrangedisplaywindowwillincrease,signifyingthatthecontrolboardisnow
adjustingtheheatoutputtoyourdesiredlevel.Theblowerspeedwillincreasethesame
amountastheheatrange,becausethestoveisdesignedtooperatewiththeblowerspeed
greaterthanorequaltotheheatrange.Pressingthe“Down”arrowwilldecreasetheheat
rangeandblowerspeed.
Toincreasetheblowerspeedwithoutincreasingtheheatrange,presstheBlowerSpeed
“Up”arrowuntilthedesiredblowerspeedisshowninthedisplaywindow.Pressingthe
“Down”arrowwilldecreasetheblowerspeed;however,thecontrolboardwillnotallow
theblowerspeedtobesetlowerthantheheatrange.
Caution
Thisunitismeanttooperateonlywiththeashpanandmainviewing
doorclosed.Smokespillageandaninefficient,lazyburnwillresult
fromattemptingtooperatethestovewitheitherdooropen.
Inaddition,usingfuelotherthanwoodpelletscancreateanunsafe
situationandcanalsogenerat
eexcesscarbonmonoxide.Carbon
monoxideisanodorless,colorlessgaswhichcanbedeadly.Pleaseburn
onlywoodpellets.
