Your parts
The footrest for the pillion passenger
is retractable, and usually sits in the
folded-up position. The footrest
brackets double as brackets for the
silencers, making for a more ecient
use of space and reducing unnecessary
weight and bulk.

Take the mud shield and align the large
and small projections on it with the
corresponding holes in the swingarm (Stage
47), as shown. Push the mud shield into place in
the swingarm.

This assembly stage is now complete.
Store the assembled, unused and
leftover parts in labelled bags.
Take a 2.3 × 6mm screw on the end of a Phillips screwdriver,
and insert it into the right-hand hole in the left pillion
footrest bracket, as indicated above.
Tighten the 2.3 × 6mm screw into the hole in the
rear subframe.
Push the screw all the way into the hole and hold it there.
Align the other hole in the footrest bracket with its
corresponding hole in the subframe and tighten another
2.3 × 6mm screw into it.
Place the left pillion footrest against the left side of the rear
subframe, aligning the holes indicated by the arrows.

Align the holes of joint E with those in
base frame 2, and place a 4 × 7mm screw
with washer into one of the holes.
Align the holes of joint A with those of
base frame 2.
Place the joint E supplied with this stage at
the end of base frame 6.
Use a size 2 Phillips screwdriver to tighten
the 4 × 7mm screw into the hole. Repeat
with another 4 × 7mm screw with washer
in the second hole in joint A. Remember
to leave the screws slightly loose to allow
some movement in the joint.
Tighten the screw into place, leaving it
a little loose, then repeat with a second
screw in the other hole.
Insert a 4 × 7mm screw with washer (Stage
54) into the hole indicated above.
Place joint E (Stage 54) at the other end of
base frame 2.
Place joint A on base frame 2 (both from
Stage 54), next to the large cutout.

This stage of the display base assembly is
now complete. You will use this section of
the assembly in the next stage.
Stage

Tighten another 4 × 7mm screw with
washer into the second hole, again leaving
it slightly loose.
Align the holes of the joint E mounted on
base frame 2 with the corresponding holes
in base frame 6.
Half-tighten the screw into the base frame
to hold the joint in place.
Bring the ends of base frame 2 (joint E
end) and base frame 6 together, as shown.
Align the holes of the joint and the base
frame, and then tighten a 4 × 7mm screw
with washer into one of the holes, leaving
it slightly loose.
Insert a 4 × 7mm screw with washer into
the top hole of joint E, holding the base
frames in place.
Half-tighten another 4 × 7mm screw
with washer into the other hole in joint
E. Hold base frames 2 and 6 together
to keep the corner ush and at a right
angle, then fully tighten the four screws
to lock it in position.

The circled holes are where the ends of
the hoses and projections of the second
air valve hose will t into the engine.
Hold the two ends of the oil hose next to the two circled holes in the engine block (Stage
54). Make sure you have the oil hose in the correct orientation (see insets).
Push the ends of the hose into the holes in
the engine block.
Tighten the 2.3 × 6mm screw into the hole
in the rear subframe.
Insert the lowest hose end into the hole
circled in red in the previous step. Then
move the other parts into position.
Prepare the second air valve hose (Stage
20) and hold it in front of the engine block,
aligning the indicated parts.
Align the other holes and tighten another
2.3 × 6mm screw into the adjacent hole in
the footrest bracket.

Push the projections of the grey box
section into place, along with the
lower hose.
Hold the hose just below the end (circled)
to stop it bending. Push the end of it into
the hole in the joint.
Take the end of one of the hoses and insert
it into the hole at the top of the exhaust
pipe joint.
In the same way, push the three other
hoses into place.

This stage of the assembly process is now complete.
Store the assembled, unused and leftover parts in
labelled plastic bags.
Insert a 4 × 7mm screw with washer into
the hole indicated in joint C.
Place joint C onto base frame 4, aligning
the holes of the joint with the indicated
holes in the frame.

Turn the screw into place, while holding
the frames together, again leaving it
slightly loose..
Tighten another 4 × 7mm screw with
washer into the second hole in joint C.
Align the screw holes of joint E on base
frame 6 with the corresponding holes
in frame 4.
Turn another 4 × 7mm screw with washer
into the remaining hole in joint C. Hold
base frames 4 and 6 together to keep the
corner at a right angle. Fully tighten all
four screws to lock the corner in position.
Join the base frame assembly from Stage
55 with base frame 4, as shown.
Insert a 4 × 7mm screw with washer into
the upper hole in joint E, leaving it slightly
loose.
Turn the screw into the hole.

The Hayabusa has an interchangeable
area at the rear, where either a domed
fairing could be mounted or a pillion
seat and grab rail could be tted to
carry a passenger. Both options are
oered with the model.

Number plate frame
Take one of the bungee hooks and
one of the grab rail hooks. Look for the
dierences between them – such as the
black tip on the bungee hook, and the
dierent lengths of the shafts – as these
will help you to identify them.
Take one of the bungee hooks, and hold
the mounting pin end next to the hole in
the side of the passenger grab rail.

Pass the cables from the rear subframe
through the circled hole in the rear fender.
Continue to pull the cables through the
hole, and place the rear fender onto the
underside of the subframe.
Take the number plate frame and insert
the larger projection on the back into the
central hole at the back of the rear fender
(Stage 50).
Hold the number plate frame against the
rear fender, turn them over, and insert a
2 × 5mm self-tapping screw into the hole
on the inside of the fender.
Push the bungee hook straight into the
hole in the side of the grab rail.
Position the rear fender in the subframe,
aligning the holes and posts at each end
of the arrows shown in the previous step.
Push all three of the projections into
the three corresponding holes in the
rear fender.
Tighten the 2 × 5mm self-tapping screw
into the hole to x the number plate frame
into position.
Insert the second bungee hook into the
hole on the other side of the grab rail.

Take the two indicator cables and hold
them together between the two pins.
Place the cable holder (Stage 48) over the
cables, aligning the holes with the pins.

Push the holes of the cable holder onto the pins on the
rear fender.
Hold the water pump (Stage 42) near the bottom left of
the engine, as shown.
Fit the central section of the pump into the holes in the
bottom left of the engine, and the end of the shorter pump
hose into the inlet connector on the back of the cylinders.

Tighten the screw into the hole.
Tighten a further three 2.3 × 6mm (silver)
self-tapping screws into the other three
holes in the underside of the rear fender.
Insert a 2.3 × 6mm (silver) self-tapping
screw (Stages 13 or 17) into the hole in the
rear fender.

Push the end of the radiator inlet hose into the hole in
the engine.
Push the central part of the water pump fully into place.
Align the pins at the ends of the cam chain tensioner
hose (Stage 40) with the hole in the tensioner adjuster
and the hole at the front of the engine.
Take the radiator inlet hose (Stage 33) and place the end
near the indicated hole in the engine.

Push the end of the tensioner hose into the hole in the
