WITH ALL OF THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, THEN DATALOGIC IS NOT WILLING TO
LICENSE THE SOFTWARE AND THE END USER IS NOT ALLOWED TO DOWNLOAD,
INSTALL OR USE THE SOFTWARE OR THE DATALOGIC PRODUCT
This End User License Agreement ("EULA") is between Datalogic USA Inc. having
its registered office at 959 Terry Street, Eugene, OR 97402, U.S.A. (“Datalogic”),

referred to as “Software”). Any Open Source used in a conjunction with the Soft-
ware is subject to the Open Source licenses available at the following website:
http://www.datalogic.com/oss.

non-sublicensable, revocable, limited license to use the Software only in con-
junction with Datalogic automated data capture devices. The Software can be
provided either on a Datalogic branded server or on USB which shall be installed
by End User and used at an End User’s computer or network, which requirements
shall be compliant with the system requirements described in the Datalogic
product documentation.
The Software can be used only in machine-readable form only, solely for End
User's internal business purposes.
This License does not allow the Software to exist on more than one computer at
a time, and End User may not make the Software available over a network where
it could be used by multiple computers at the same time.
1.2 End Users shall not distribute, sublicense, rent, loan, lease, assign, export,
re-export, resell, ship or divert or cause to be exported, re-exported, resold,
shipped or diverted, directly or indirectly, the Software under this Agreement.

pile, reverse engineer, disassemble, or extract the inner workings of the Soft-
ware, (ii) copy the functionality of the Software; (iii) remove any proprietary
notices, marks, labels, or logos from the Software; (iv) rent or transfer all or
some of the Software to any other party without Datalogic’s prior written

party from whom Datalogic has obtained a license right. This Agreement does
not grant to End User any intellectual property rights. As used in this Agreement

“acquire under license”. End User is not entitled to receipt or use of the source
code of any licensed Software.

1.4 Portions of the Software are protected by the relevant and applicable patent
and copyright laws, international treaty provisions, and other applicable laws.
Therefore, End User must treat the Software like any other copyrighted material
(e.g., a book or musical recording) except that End User may make one copy of
the Software solely for back-up purposes. Unauthorized duplication of the Soft-
ware constitutes copyright infringement.
1.5 Any use of the Software outside of the conditions set forth herein and in any
ancillary Datalogic product documentation is strictly prohibited and will be
deemed a breach of this Agreement resulting in immediate termination of this
Agreement. In the event of a breach of this Agreement, Datalogic will be entitled
to all available remedies at law or in equity (including but not limiting to imme-
diate termination of the license without notice, immediate injunctive relief and
block of the Software).
1.6 Without prejudice of the foregoing, End User grants to Datalogic and its
independent accountants or consultants the right to examine End User's books,
records and accounts during End User's normal business hours to verify compli-
ance with this Agreement. In the event such audit discloses non-compliance with
this Agreement, Datalogic shall be entitled to immediately terminate the Agree-
ment, request End User to promptly pay all (additional) license fees due and any
further damages, if any.

of the Software or such replacement, modified or upgraded version on your
acceptance of such superseding Agreement. In addition, either party may termi-
nate this Agreement at any time. Subject to the foregoing, termination shall be
effective upon notice to the other party. In the event that this Agreement termi-
nates for any reason, End User’s license to use the Software will immediately ter-
minate, and End User must immediately stop using the Software, destroy all
copies of the Software and all of its component parts, and, upon request, provide
an affidavit certifying your compliance with the foregoing. The provisions of
Sub-sections 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 12 shall survive termination of

form substantially to the applicable Datalogic product documentation for the
period specified in the same, Datalogic’s entire liability and End User’s sole and

existence of such non conformities or errors and Datalogic’s inability to remedy
such errors shall not constitute a breach of this Agreement.

Chapter 1
Introduction
System Overview
WebSentinel PLUS is a browser-based application that gives facility managers
and maintenance personnel the ability to monitor multiple Datalogic products
and scan points within their facility or across multiple facilities from anywhere an
internet connection is available. WebSentinel PLUS provides real time and histor-
ical performance data in an easy to use browser-based interface, as well as
automatic status and error condition reporting for all of the Datalogic products
and systems to which it is connected.
WebSentinel PLUS Server
The WebSentinel PLUS application and database resides on a networked WebSen-
tinel PLUS Server. The server can be supplied by Datalogic (preferable) or by the
end user
(see Chapter ).
Typically, one WebSentinel PLUS Server is required for
each site (i.e.: Distribution Center, Airport Baggage System, etc.) and can moni-
tor several scan points within that site. Some high-volume end users prefer to
have a WebSentinel Plus server at each major scan point (array/tunnel). Each
WebSentinel PLUS Server runs a Global database, Local database, and Package
database. The information controlled by and contained within each database is
described below.
A scan point is any read area on a conveyor line, which may have one or more
barcode readers (laser scanner or camera) and may include a dimensioner and
controller.
Introduction
2
WebSentinel PLUS
Database Information Distribution
Basic Architecture
The installed barcode readers, cameras, dimensioners, and controllers commu-
nicate with the WebSentinel PLUS Server through the site local area network
(LAN). WebSentinel PLUS then stores up to 45 days’ worth of site data in its data-
base.
A static IP address (URL) is assigned to the networked WebSentinel PLUS Server,
and you can access the application through any internet browser that has access
to that network. By typing the WebSentinel PLUS Server IP address into the
browser’s address field, you can link to the WebSentinel PLUS Login window.
With a proper user ID and password, you can log in and begin monitoring the
scan points in your facility.
System Layouts
Most systems will use a single WebSentinel PLUS Server installed on the Host
Network for several scan points (arrays/tunnels). Scan points using cameras can
store images on the WebSentinel PLUS Server or optional Network Attached Stor-
age (NAS) through the Image Network for long-term image storage. The amount
of NAS and the network layout can vary according to storage requirement and
link distances to the server room. In the extra image storage scenario, the NAS
has to run a Web Server, and in order to export images by the HTTP protocol, the
image home needs to be set as a public folder.

very
high volume may consider installing a WebSentinel PLUS
Server at each camera array/tunnel. These servers can then be accessed inde-
pendently through the Host Network.

WebSentinel PLUS
Server Capacity
A single WebSentinel PLUS Server has a large monitoring capability and can sup-
port
many
scan points (tunnels/arrays) and devices in your facility. The capacity
per server depends on several factors including:
Package throughput
•Number of devices per scan point (tunnels/arrays)
The types and combination of devices used, i.e.: cameras, laser scanners,
dimensioners
Image storage required on the server versus NAS (Network Attached Stor-
age)
The capacity and speed of the facility’s network
Datalogic will work with you to provide the best WebSentinel PLUS monitoring
solution for your facility.
Extended Architecture
WebSentinel PLUS also gives you the ability to link WebSentinel PLUS Servers
located in several different remote facilities through use of a reliable internet
connection. When this is done, one WebSentinel PLUS Server (at one facility) is
designated as the MASTER, and the other WebSentinel PLUS Servers in the system
become its SLAVES. Each server has a copy of the MASTER’s Global Database. The
WebSentinel PLUS Controller continually updates SLAVE Global Databases with
the latest User and Site Administration information over the Internet.
Global Database Distribution to Slave Facilities
Using the Internet and Site IP addresses, each Site can directly access the other
Sites Local Databases to view that Site’s statistical information.

Reference Manual 5
Local Database Connectivity
If the MASTER at Site 1 fails, the other Sites (SLAVES) can still collect and view
each other's statistical data, but administrative changes cannot be made to the
Global Database. In this case, the SLAVES will try to contact the MASTER until it
comes back up and the connection can be established. Each SLAVE keeps track
of where it left off in the replication process. When a SLAVE reconnects to the
MASTER, it informs the MASTER of its last successful update. The SLAVE receives
any updates that have taken place since that time, and then waits for the MASTER
to notify it of new updates.

WebSentinel PLUS
Master Failure Scenario
If one of the SLAVE Sites fails, none of the sites will be able to view its data. When
the SLAVE is restored, the MASTER will update the SLAVE’S administrative set-
tings in its Global database. At that point the Local database again begins to col-
lect local statistics, and those statistics can be viewed by the MASTER and other
SLAVES.

Installation
Software Requirements
WebSentinel PLUS software requires one of the following windows operating
systems:
Windows 7 - 10 (32 or 64-bit, 64-bit preferred)
One of the following browsers
Internet Explorer 10 (or later)
Chrome 36 (or later)
Firefox 30 (or later)
and
Java: Version 7 (or later)
If the WebSentinel PLUS server(s) is supplied by Datalogic, software will be pre-
installed and the unit will be ready to plug in when it arrives at your facility.
Server Hardware Requirements
Hardware requirements for a single end user supplied server monitoring many
scan points (tunnels/arrays)
(see )
are shown below. Requirements for remote
computers (remote clients) viewing WebSentinel PLUS through a network con-
nection are much less stringent.
Server Hardware Recommendations
Dedicated Computer with the following:
Intel Core i3 at 2.1 GHz or equivalent processor
•8 GB RAM
500 GB hard disk with at least 350 GB free space for package data
Two 10/100/1000Mb Ethernet ports
USB 2.0 port for software installation
Google Chrome Web Browser is recommended for its superior performance characteristics.
WebSentinel PLUS software runs on computers with less than the recommended hardware
requirements and will likely perform fine when monitoring a few scan points. Performance of
queries & reports may be negatively affected.
The Data logic WebSentinel PLUS licens key is created based on the MAC address of a single
Ethernet card installed on the PC (automatically selected and not modifiable by the user). For
this reason it is recommended to disconnect or disable all the other removable Ethernet cards
in order to avoid the registration program selecting them. If the registered MAC is missing,
WebSentinel PLUS will not start.
