WebSentinel PLUS Software
Installation Manual
WebSentinel PLUS software can be licensed for installation on customer
provided servers. This document provides requirements and installation
procedures for a successful installation.
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS FOR CUSTOMER SUPPLIED SERVER
One of the following Windows Operating System:
Windows 7 - 10 (32 or 64-bit, 64-bit prefered)
One of the following Web Browsers:
Google Chrome 36 (or later) - Recommended
Internet Explorer 10 (or later)
Firefox 30 (or later)
Our installer will attempt to install the following components:
Apache Tomcat 7 Apache HTTP Server Java 7 SE runtime Maria
DB Server 5.5 FileZilla FTP Server 7-Zip Archive tool
Your server’s operating system must be compatible with and/or not have
conflicts with any of these components.
If the WebSentinel Plus server(s) is supplied by Datalogic, software will be
preinstalled and the unit will be ready to plug in when it arrives.
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
Hardware requirements for Datalogic WebSentinel™ PLUS depend on the
number of arrays/tunnels that are to be monitored by the software, the
number of devices in each array, and the quantity of report files that must
be produced and stored. The following lists refer to single computers, each
acting as both a WebSentinel PLUS Server and as a Client. Remote Client
requirements are less stringent.
Server/Client Hardware Requirements Based on Number of Arrays/Tunnels
Up to 32 arrays:
Intel Core i3 at 2.1 GHz or equivalent processor
8 GB RAM
500 GB hard disk with at least 350 GB free space for
package data
Two 10/100/1000Mb Ethernet port
USB 2.0 port for software installation
NOTE: WebSentinel PLUS software will run on computers
with less than the recommended hardware requirements,
and will likely perform fine when monitoring a few scan
points. However, performance of queries and reports may
be negatively affected.
NOTE: The Datalogic WebSentinel PLUS license key is
created based on the MAC address of a single Ethernet
card installed on the PC (automatically selected and not
modifiable by the user). For this reason, it is recommended
to disconnect or disable all the other removable Ethernet
cards in order to avoid the registration program selecting
them. If the registered MAC is missing, WebSentinel PLUS
won’t start.
INSTALLING A CUSTOMER PROVIDED SERVER
If you are providing your own server hardware, make sure it meets the
hardware and software requirements outlined above. The server should be
installed in a secure location where it will not be disturbed or prone to
damage. Be sure to allow about 300mm [12in] clearance for cabling around
the server’s connectors. For information on installing a Datalogic
WebSentinel PLUS Server, see the WebSentinel PLUS Server
Installation Manual.
CUSTOMER PROVIDED SERVER CONNECTIONS
If you are providing your own server hardware, you must make the following
connections:
Power Power supply connection
Video Monitor connections (optional)
Ethernet Connection to HOST Network
Ethernet Connection to Device Network
USB Mouse and Keyboard connection (optional)
See the WebSentinel PLUS User’s Manual: Global Settings | Facility
Management for setting up site Ethernet IP addresses, and Local Settings
| Scan Point Management for setting up scan point Device network IP
addresses.
WEBSENTINEL PLUS SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

POST INSTALLATION BACKGROUND CONFIGURATION
After WebSentinel PLUS has been installed on the server computer, there
are a few system settings that need to be adjusted for proper function.
Add MariaDB executables to PATH
1. Click the Windows Start icon, right click on Computer, and select
Properties.
2. From the Windows System window, click Advanced System
Settings. The System Properties window opens.
3. Click Environment Variables. The Environment Variables window
opens.
4. Select Path under System variables, and click Edit. The Edit
System Variables box pops up.
5. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program File…\MariaDB
5.5\bin. Highlight the file path, and press CTRL- C to copy it.
6. Return to the Edit System Variables box. In the Variable value text
field, add a semicolon to the end of any text already in the field, and
then paste the path information that was copied in the previous step
after the semicolon, by pressing CTRL-V.
7. Click OK. Then continue clicking OK to close the open system
windows.
Configure the Network Adapter
1. From the desktop (Windows 7 or Windows 8), click the Start button,
and then select Control Panel.
2. Enter adapter in the search box, and then from the results, under
Network and Sharing Center, click View network connections.
3. Right-click sorting network Connection (you must know the name of
the connection for your system), and then select Properties.
4. Select the Networking tab. Select Internet Protocol Version 4
(TCP/IPv4), and then click Properties.
5. Select the Use the following IP address option button.
6. In the IP address field, type the first 3 octets of the actual IP address
of the sorting network (this may be the device network or image
network. If you don’t know the IP address, contact the system IT
administrator.)
7. For the last octet, type a number that differs from the last octet in the
sorting network’s IP address. The actual number used is not important
as long as it does not match that of the sorting network.
Example: If the sorting network’s IP Address is 192.168.0.145, set
your server’s IP Address to 192.168.0.146.
8. In the Subnet mask field, type 255.255.255.0
9. The Default gateway is empty.
10. Click OK.
Set Up the FTP Server
1. Open FileZilla by double clicking the desktop icon.
2. At the Connect to Server window, click OK.

5. Enter the user account name ftpuser.
6. Select the Password check box, and enter the password asiroot.
7. Under Page, select Shared Folders and click Add.
8. Browse for folder C:\RemoteMonitor\images, and click OK.
9. Select all of the Files and Directories check boxes to grant all
read/write permissions.
10. Click Set as home directory.
NOTE: The shared folder added and Set as home
directory is the directory where camera images will be
stored.
11. Repeat the steps above to create another user with the username
anonymous and a password anonymous.
After WebSentinel PLUS and the other necessary components have been
installed and configured, connect to WebSentinel PLUS through a browser
to configure your facility and scan point connections (see the WebSentinel
PLUS User’s Manual, Chapter 4).
WebSentinel PLUS and Windows Operating System Firewall
An administrator level user may need to configure the machine's firewall
rules to allow WebSentinel PLUS applications to operate. This can be done
after installation by registering these applications as an allowed program in
the built-in firewall's allowed programs list. The firewall modifications can be
made from the Windows Control Panel and Windows Firewall, but
accessing these controls will differ depending on the operating system
version being used. If you cannot access the controls or if a different firewall
is used, contact your IT department. The firewall should be modified to
allow the following programs and ports.
Application
Port
FileZilla Server
21
Apache Tomcat
8080
Apache HTTP Server
80
Private and public network selections for the applications must be allowed.
If an application is not listed, add the executable file and directory path.
