1.4 Lexmark Universal Print Driver
To use SafeCom Pull Print, you need to install the Lexmark Universal Print
Driver for PCL5 and PostScript. Lexmark’s Universal Print Driver is available on
www.lexmark.com.
1. Download a copy of the Lexmark Universal Print Driver and unpack it.
Al Lexmark devices that should be part of your SafeCom solution, but currently
use a standard TCP/IP port, need to use the SafeCom Pull Port.
2. Change the Lexmark device’s existing TC/IP port to a
SafeCom Pull Port (see SafeCom G3 Administrator’s Manual D60603).
3. In Windows, locate the device. Select the device, and then right-click it.
Click Printer properties. Click the Ports tab, select your SafeCom Pull
Port from the list. Click Configure Port. Make sure that the server and
domain are correct and click OK.
4. Click Apply and then Close.
The SafeCom Pull Port does not allow bidirectional communication with
Lexmark printers, so you need to install any Lexmark options you want
manually.
5. Select the device and right-click. Click Printer properties.
6. Click the Configuration tab.
7. Under Configuration Options: select the appropriate options from the
list.
8. Click Apply.
9. Click OK.

D60711-14 17
In SafeCom Server you specify the SafeCom server, either manually or through
sending a broadcast. Enter the Group name, SafeCom server TCP port (default
is 7500) and the SafeCom server IP address in Add server .Or click Broadcast to
get a list of servers to select from (see 2.5.2.)
Note: After clicking Apply, it takes at least one minute before the new
SafeCom Server settings take effect. Otherwise you may get a login error at
the printer.
Device name and Device model: Are automatically filled-in.
Device location and Contact person: Important references for the SafeCom
solution, so it’s a good idea to fill these fields in. Find the name, model, and
location in the Device properties dialog in SafeCom Administrator.
Community name: By default is Public. If different than public, the community
name must match Get Community Name.
User identification: How users should login.
Auto-sense (default): On an MFP, if a USB ID device is connected to the
device, Card or Windows is selected. On a printer, Card is selected. If
there is no USB ID device then User code is selected.
User code
Card
Card or User code
Card or Windows: Allows the user to login by either card or by entering
their Windows username, password, and domain. The SafeCom G3 server
must be a member of the domain or trusted by the domain.
Pre-fill domain: Select one of the below options.
Blank (default): use if users belong to different domains. All users need
to enter their domain when they login with their Windows username and
password.
Default domain: use if most users belong to the same domain. Users only
need to use their Windows username and password to login.
Hide: use if all users belong to the same domain. Users login with their
Windows username and password only. Be sure to have specified the
Default domain, otherwise the choice will revert back to Blank when you
click Apply.
Note: The SafeCom G3 server must be a member of the domain or trusted by
the domain.
Mask user code: Select to mask entered user codes with an asterisk (*)
Login without PIN code: Select if users do NOT need to enter a 4-digit PIN
code at login. This setting applies to the printer and overrules the equivalent
user property on the SafeCom G3 server. PIN code login is possible on printers
with touchscreen or keypad.
2 SafeCom Go Lexmark
D60711-14 18
Print all at login: All user documents are printed as soon as the user logs in to
Pull Print. This setting applies to the printer. If selected this setting overrules
the equivalent user property on the SafeCom G3 server.
Show newest first: Documents listed are printed in last-in first-out order.
MFP authentication
2
: Select Copy, Folder, Fax, and E-mail for SafeCom to
control access and tracking of these MFP functions.
Track
3
: Select the functions you want the SafeCom solution to track. Make sure
the access control settings (2.3.2) match the functions you select for Track.
Note: If a copy job consists of color as well as black and white pages, all pages
are tracked as black and white.
Pull Print access control
4
: Default is Solution 1, this must match the solution
number selected on the Edit Access Controls web page (2.3.2).
Drivers: When pull printing, the SafeCom solution compares the driver name
embedded in the print job with its list of driver names. If no match is found the
document will appear with a question mark [?] in the document list (3.3). This
way the user is warned that fidelity is low and the document may print
incorrectly.
1. Click Get all to retrieve a list of driver names from the SafeCom server.
2. Click Apply.
A driver can also be added manually. Enter the driver name in Add driver and
then click Add.
To remove a driver, select its name in the list and click Remove.
Note: It is important to use a driver that sends print job names with the print
jobs in order for SafeCom to track the print job. If the print job name is empty
SafeCom is not able to track the print job.
Timeout: The amount of time a device is idle before the user is automatically
logged out. Timeout is set in seconds, with a default of 60. If the device
requires intervention (IRQ), timeout is stopped so the user is not logged out
while the issue is being resolved.
On an MFP the user is NOT automatically logged out if Timeout is greater than
that of the MFP’s Inactivity timeout specified under Copy/Send settings.
Default is 60 seconds.
Post track: Relevant only with SafeCom Tracking. Refer to SafeCom G3
Administrator’s Manual D60603
High speed print: Select to allow faster printing. Documents submitted for high
speed print via a standard TCP/IP port may be printed between any user using
Pull Print for printing or copying.
