Overview
Care@Home™ Emergency Pendant Advanced User Guide 3
1. Overview
The Essence Emergency Pendant Advanced (EPA) is an innovative, wearable, multi-function
emergency device for detecting falls and signaling emergency situations, which is integrated with
Care@Home™.
The EPA is meant to always be with the resident, worn as a pendant using the supplied lanyard.
When the EPA detects a fall, or the EPA button is pressed, the EPA sends an emergency message via a
radio signal to the Control Panel (CP), which, in turn, passes the message to the monitoring station.
EPA capabilities include:
Fully water resistant (IP67)
Wireless connectivity with the CP that can reach 400 m (1,312 ft.) in the open air
Up to two years battery life
Configurable emergency press duration
Lightweight
LED indication
With the optional Care@Home™ Active service, coverage extends outside the resident’s
home

Emergency Pendant Advanced-BC
16 Care@Home™ Emergency Pendant Advanced User Guide
Emergency Pendant Advanced-BC
The Essence Emergency Pendant AdvancedBC (EPA-BC) is a version of the EPA designed specifically
to be backward compatible with earlier versions of Care@Home™.
The EPABC has similar functionality and specifications to the EPA. The only difference is in how the
EPA-BC communicates with the CP when it detects a fall or the panic button being pressed. However,
just as with the EPA, caregivers, family members, and the monitoring station receive notice of a fall or
the panic button being pressed.
You add an EPA-BC to Care@Home™ the same way you add an EPA to Care@Home™.
For additional information, refer to the ESUGSC036 Care@Home ES700EPA-BC Datasheet.
Emergency Pendant Plus
Care@Home™ Emergency Pendant Advanced User Guide 17
Emergency Pendant Plus
The Essence Emergency Pendant Plus (EP Plus) is a version of the Emergency Pendant (EP) with the
same appearance as the EPA.
The EP Plus has similar functionality to the EP, but has the same replaceable battery and physical
characteristics as the EPA. The EP Plus does not include fall detection, and can be worn as a pendant or
on the wrist.
The LED in the EP Plus behaves the same way as the EPA LED. Refer to 5.2 LED Indications on page 11.
You add an EP Plus to Care@Home™ the same way you add an EPA to Care@Home™.
For additional information, refer to the ESUGSC038 Care@Home ES700EPP Datasheet.
