CAUTION: After shutting
off appliance, wait at least ve
minutes before reigniting. This
will allow the safety interlock
to reset.
OPERATION
WARNING: If you do not fol-
low these instructions exactly,
a re or explosion may result
causing property damage, per-
sonal injury or loss of life.
Follow all safety information given in your ap-
pliance owner’s manual under Operation.
WARNING: Do not force the
control knob on the gas valve.
Use only your hand to turn the
knob. If knob does not move by
hand, valve should be replaced
by a trained service technician.
LIGHTING
INSTRUCTIONS
1. With remote control turned off, press
lightly and turn the control knob clock-
wise to the OFF position. Wait ve
minutes for any gases to escape that may
have accumulated.
2. Press lightly and rotate control knob coun-
terclockwise to the PILOT position.
Holding knob pressed in, push the piezo
ignitor to light pilot. Keep knob pressed in
for at least 30 seconds until a strong pilot
ame is present. Release the knob.
3. Turn the control knob counterclockwise
to the ON position. The gas valve
is ready to be operated by the remote
control.
4. To shut off burner and leave pilot lit, turn
control knob clockwise to the PI-
LOT position.
TO TURN GAS OFF
TO APPLIANCE
Shutting off Fireplace
1. Turn the control knob clockwise to
the OFF position.
2. Close equipment shutoff valve.
OPERATING
REMOTE CONTROL
Note: To operate appliance with remote
control, it is necessary that the pilot ame be
lit and that the thermopile is hot enough to
supply the power required by the gas valve.
The gas valve control knob must be in the
ON position.
Note: The receiver has a temporary memory
to store the commands sent by the remote
control. When a command is received, an
acoustic signal is sounded. The command
will be executed as soon as allowed by the
control logic of the receiver. Commands given
too quickly after the unit is turned on or off may
not be executed immediately.
Turn On Appliance
Press the ON key (|) on remote control (see
Figure 13). The main burner will come on and
the receiver will give a signal that the com-
mand has been received.
Note: The ame height will be at maximum
for 5 seconds to allow proper ignition of the
burner. The receiver will not recognize an
increase or decrease for the ame height
during this 5 seconds.
Turn Off Appliance
Press OFF key (0) on remote control to turn
appliance off. An acoustic signal will be give
by the receiver that the command has been
received.
IHP.us.com 126916-01A
6
www.desatech.com 114370-05C6
Note: The step motor modulator will drive the
ame height to maximum to prepare for the
next ignition. If the ON command is sent be-
fore this is completed, it will not be recognized
until the modulator has reached the maximum
ame height position.
Flame Height
Use the up or down arrow keys to adjust the
ame height to the desired level (see Figure
13). There are six ame height levels. A signal
is given from the receiver to conrm the com-
mand was received.
Low Battery Detection and Backup
When the receiver detects low batteries it will
do one of the following:
• three acoustic signals are generated
• the appliance goes off
• commands given by the remote are ignored
by the receiver
When the batteries are replaced, the receiver
will restart its normal operation. When the
batteries are low, the appliance will not start
using the remote. You will still be able to turn
the unit on manually with the backup switch
on the receiver in the MAN position.
