Removing Barrier/Glass Door
Gloves must be worn when removing/replacing glass door. If glass
is broken, tape remaining glass frame before removing.
1. Remove bottom access panel.
2. Remove barrier by holding the barrier in front of the glass door
and slide it up into the channel underneath the upper front face
to release it from bottom channel then pull it out and away from
the fireplace (see Figure 1a, page 2).
3. Unlock 2 door latches on bottom of firebox.
4. Tilt open glass door 30° from bottom of firebox and lift up to
release door from firebox top retainer (see Figure 2, page 2).
5. To replace the barrier and glass door, reverse steps above.
WARNING: Reinstall any barrier removed before
operating the fireplace. The barrier is designed to
reduce the risk of burns from hot glass. Do not operate
the fireplace without the barrier installed.

tion, all electrical power to the appliance is off and fireplace is cool

ACCESSING FIREPLACE
The gas control valve and main burner orifice are located under firebox
floor of appliance and are accessed by removing bottom access door.
2 orifices are located in burners and are accessed by removing the
bottom access panel, barrier, glass door and burner.

Remove bottom access panel by pulling top end forward and away
from appliance (see Figure 1). To replace removed item, reverse

BURNER ORIFICE CONVERSION
1. Remove andiron by lifting up and away from back of fireplace
(see Figure 3).
2. Carefully lift 3 loose logs from log stack.
3. Remove hex nuts that attach pilot shield and grate base to burner
base and 2 screws on side of pilot shield top.
4. Remove main burner from grate base by removing screw located
at right inner corner of firebox, and lifting up and toward the right
(see Figure 3).
5. Remove log set with grate base by holding sides of grate base
and lifting carefully to clear front burner orifice on right and pilot
shield on the left.
6. Remove NG orifice from elbow and bulkhead fittings. Apply a
light amount of propane/LP resistant sealant to threaded end of
propane/LP orifices (#54) supplied with kit. Thread propane/LP
orifices into fittings and tighten.
7. Adjust front burner air shutter to fully open and rear tube burner
air shutter to fully open.
8. Reinstall log set with grate base, main burner and loose logs
removed in step 2, 3 and 4.
GAS CONTROL VALVE CONVERSION
The gas control valve is convertible from propane/LP to natural gas
by a simple rotary knob located on the front face of the valve (see
Figure 4, page 3).
1. Remove the black cap by pulling the cap straight off. Note: the position
of the marker on the shaft of the simple rotary knob. This mark will
point to NAT to LP that indicates the type of gas the valve is set on.
2. To convert the control valve back to the factory setting (LP), push
in the simple rotary knob and rotate 90°. Note: the marker will
now point to LP and the shaft will stay in.
3. After the conversion has been made, check the outlet pressure
with a manometer. The factory setting on the internal regulator
is 3.5" w.c. for natural and 10.5" w.c. for propane/LP.
4. Replace black cover cap.
5. Remove flow control set screw and replace with set screw #51
provided with this kit.
Note: in replacement and conversion use only new parts provided.
When converting to different gas you must also change pilot and
burner orifices.

CONVERSION LABELING AND PLACEMENT
1. Apply conversion label over top of existing certification label (see
Figure 5). Existing certification label is located on lighting instruc-
tions plate inside gas valve compartment area. With permanent
ink, print previous model number on label in space provided (see
Figure 6).
2. After filling data required on conversion information label (see
Figure 7), affix it to floor of appliance where it is easily seen when
bottom access door is removed.

PILOT ORIFICE CONVERSION
1. Remove pilot hood from barrel using tweezers or needle nose
pliers to open clips (see Figure 8).
2. Remove pilot orifice from inside barrel with slotted screwdriver.
3. Replace pilot orifice with orifice supplied with this kit. Insert open
end of new pilot orifice inside barrel and thread pilot orifice with
slotted screwdriver.
4. Reinstall pilot hood into barrel then install clip to secure pilot
hood.
IMPORTANT: Be careful not to bend or kink aluminum tubing
during conversion. Make sure pilot hood and orifice are properly
mated and aligned after finishing this conversion.

FINAL PREPARATION
1. Leak check gas control and any connections you've made be-
fore operating appliance. Refer to Checking Gas Connections in
owner's manual.
2. Reinstall glass door and close latches.
3. Replace barrier and reinstall bottom access panel.
The conversion is now complete.
To operate your fireplace, refer to Operating Fireplace in your appli-
ance owners manual.
