Procedure
Important: Do not tighten an y bolts until
both side brack ets and ba g ger mounting
brack et ar e fit loose on the machine.
R efer to Tightening the Mounting Bolts f or
the cor r ect pr ocedur e to tighten the bolts.
1. Install the side brac k ets to the bag g er mounting
brac k et ( Figure 3 ).
2. In the top tw o holes , install 2 bolts (3/8 x 1-1/2
inc hes), 2 flang e n uts (3/8 inc h), 2 long frame
spacers , and one shor t frame spacer ( Figure 3 ).
Note: Mak e sure the long frame spacers are
installed as sho wn in Figure 3 ).
3. In the bottom hole , install a bolt (3/8 x 1-1/4
inc hes) and a flang e n ut (3/8 inc h) ( Figure 3 ).
4. Install a brac k et stiffener to the side brac k et
and bag g er mounting brac k et. Use 4 bolts
(3/8 x 3/4 inc h) and 4 flang e n uts (3/8 inc h)
( Figure 3 ).
5. R e peat the previous ste ps for the opposite side
( Figure 3 ).

section to the side of the mac hine using 4 bolts
(3/8 x 1-1/2 inc hes), 4 cur v ed w ashers (3/8
inc h), and 4 flang e n uts (3/8 inc h) ( Figure 4 ).
8. R e peat the ste ps abo v e for the opposite side
( Figure 4 ).
Note: Mak e sure the cur v ed w asher are
installed as sho wn in Figure .

T he follo wing ste ps are the cor rect sequence to
tighten the side brac k ets and the bag g er mounting
brac k et.
All 3/8 inc h mounting bolts need to be tor qued to
35 ft-lb (48 N m).
1. Tighten the bag g er mounting brac k et to the
rear frame first ( Figure 5 ).
2. Tighten the bag g er mounting brac k et to the
side brac k ets ( Figure 3 ).
3. Tighten the brac k et stiffeners to both the
side plates and the bag g er mounting brac k et
( Figure 3 ).
4. Tighten the side brac k ets to the side of the
mo w er ( Figure 4 ).

Procedure
1. R emo v e the mo w er belt from the g earbo x
pulley assembly ( Figure 6 ).
2. R emo v e the 2 set screws , square k ey , and
g earbo x pulley from the g earbo x.

Note: Mak e sure the pulley that is remo v ed
has 4 holes around the center hole . If it does
not, contact an A uthorized Ser vice Dealer for
the cor rect pulley .
3. Install the bag g er dri v e pulley to the g earbo x
pulley with 3 bolts (3/8 x 1-3/4 inc hes), 3
spacers , and 3 flang e n uts (3/8 inc h) ( Figure 6 ).
4. Install the g earbo x pulley and bag g er dri v e
pulley to the g earbo x with 2 set screws and a
square k ey ( Figure 6 ).
5. Install the mo w er belt bac k onto the g earbo x
pulley ( Figure 6 ).

2. Install the spring loaded idler pulley to the
right rear bottom frame with a bolt (3/8 x 4
inc hes), long spacer , w asher (7/16 inc hes), and
a loc kn ut (3/8 inc h) ( Figure 7 ).
Important: Mak e sur e the idler ar m and
spring anchor is installed in the cor r ect
holes sho wn in Figur e 7 .

1. Install the fix ed idler pulley to the fix ed idler
brac k et with a bolt (3/8 x 1-1/2 inc hes), w asher
(13/32 inc hes), and a loc kn ut (3/8 inc h).
2. Install the fix ed idler assembly to the left rear
bottom frame with 2 bolts (3/8 x 3/4 inc h)
and 2 flang e n uts (3/8 inc h) ( Figure 8 ).

3. R emo v e the cable guide and bolt from the
frame of the bag g er ( Figure 10 ).
4. Install the cable guide , bolt, and n ut with the
cable behind the cable guide ( Figure 10 ).
Note: Mak e sure the cable guide can rotate .
5. Locate template n umber 1 in the bac k of
this man ual. Cut out template n umber 1 as
indicated on the template ( Figure 10 ).
6. P osition the template on the right-hand side of
the engine shroud ( Figure 10 ).
7. Line up the circles on the template with the
ri v ets on the shroud and the template bottom
is flush with the bottom of shroud ( Figure 10 ).
8. T ape the template to the engine shroud. Mark
the outer edg e of the template . ( Figure 10 ).
9. Cut the engine shroud at the mark ed line . T his
will prev ent damag e to the engine shroud while
using the bag g er dump lev er ( Figure 10 ).
Note: Mak e sure to follo w the template
outline . Do not create any shar p cor ners .

remo v e the skid plate ( Figure 11 ).

Checking and Adjusting the
Bagger Belt Tension
No Parts Required
Procedure
1. Measure the g ap , at the bag g er tensioner pulley ,
betw een the tight and slac k side of the belt
when the bag g er tensioner pulley and spring
are installed ( Figure 12 ). T here needs to be a
g ap of 1-1/8 inc h ± 1/8 inc h (29 mm ± 3 mm)
betw een the belt strands ( Figure 13 ).

pillo w bloc k ( Figure 14 ).
B . Inser t a spacer behind the pillo w bloc k
( Figure 14 ).
C . Tighten the n uts .
D . Chec k the belt g ap and re peat procedure
as required.

condition which could r esult in a loss of
contr ol.
1. Place caster w eights on the front casters .
2. Install plate , n uts (1/2 inc h) and loc k w asher
(1/2 inc h) under the frame and w eight
( Figure 15 ).
3. R e peat for opposite side .
Note: Z Master mo w ers with 52 inc h mo w er
dec ks require additional w eight. Contact y our
A uthorized Ser vice Dealer for the w eight kit.

1. Diseng ag e the PTO and set the parking brak e .
2. Stop the engine , remo v e the k ey , and w ait for
all mo ving par ts to stop before lea ving the
operating position.
3. T o reliev e the spring tension on the g rass
deflector , place the L or the straight end of the
spring in front of the mounting brac k et.
4. Lift the g rass deflector all the w a y bac k.
5. P osition the boot’ s front hook into the front
slot on the mounting brac k et ( Figure 17 ).
Note: If the g rass deflector interferes with
the boot, g rind off par t of the g rass deflector
frame . See Figure 17 for the cor rect par t to
g rind off .

into the upper tube and twist the middle tube
60 deg rees ( Figure 18 ).
10. Tighten the clamp around the upper and
middle tube connection ( Figure 18 ).
11. Slide the middle tube onto the boot and latc h
them tog ether ( Figure 18 ).

1. Unfasten the dump handle from the crate .
2. Install a w asher onto the bag g er dump handle
and install the bag g er dump handle into the
bag g er frame ( Figure 19 ).

inc hes) and a cotter pin ( Figure 19 ).

1. Mo v e the bag g er dump lev er rearw ard
to increase the slac k in the bag g er cable
( Figure 20 ).
2. R emo v e the cotter pin and clevis pin securing
the bag g er cable clevis to the bag g er dump
handle ( Figure 20 ).

3. T hread a jam n ut (1/2 inc h) all the w a y onto
the bolt (1/2 x 1-3/4 inc hes) ( Figure 21 ).

the bottom of the lev er a w a y from the stop
brac k et ( Figure 21 ).
5. Inser t the bolt into the stop brac k et hole and
thread another jam n ut (1/2 inc h) onto the
bolt. Do not tighten.
Note: Install the long cable clevis onto the
bag g er dump handle ( Figure 21 ).
6. Secure the bag g er cable clevis to the bag g er
dump handle with the clevis pin and cotter pin
previously remo v ed ( Figure 21 ).

3. Tighten the n uts on both sides of the stop

fully eng ag es into the latc h ( Figure 25 ).

Note: T he lo w er hole will allo w the door to
open higher . T he upper hole will allo w less
force to open the door while using the handle .
6. Install the clevis pin and cotter pin into the
bag g er and cable end ( Figure 27 ).
