Thermo Fisher Scientific TaqMan® SNP Genotyping Assays Owner's manual

  • Hello! I'm a chat assistant and I've reviewed the datasheet for Applied Biosystems TaqMan SNP Genotyping Assays. This document details various assay types, including Validated & Coding, Pre-Designed, Drug Metabolism, and Custom assays, available in different scales. The document provides information about the quality control measures, dye usage, and types of tests performed, also you can find available models and their specifications.
  • What dyes are used in the assays?
What quality control is performed on the assays?

All assays are quality control tested using a mass spectrophotometer to verify sequence and yield. All assays, except Custom Assays, undergo bioinformatics evaluation of target SNP sequences and
are processed using probe and primer design software.
Functional testing against 20 unique genomic DNAs was performed on all Pre-Designed and Coding SNP Assays and human Custom Assays. Validation testing against 2-4 populations with ~45
samples/population was performed on all Validated and Drug Metabolism Assays.
* ~180,000 Validated and Coding Assays that were previously held in inventory are now available as made-to-order Pre-Designed Assays. These assays have retained their validation data, and the assay
IDs will remain unchanged.

How to Choose and Order Assays
Easy-to-Use Tool for Custom Assay Submission
File Builder Software is designed for use with Custom TaqMan® Assays. This tool is useful for assay ordering
when either working with non-human SNPs, or if there is not an assay readily available for your SNP of choice.
To format and submit your SNP, insertion/deletion, or multiple nucleotide polymorphism target sequences
for design of Custom TaqMan® SNP Genotyping Assays, simply download our free File Builder Software. The
software easily guides you through the ordering process from selecting the assay scale, to formatting your
target sequence, to submitting your order via e-mail or the Web. Files are submitted in a confidential, secure
format. Custom assays are produced for your target sequences to run under universal assay conditions. File
Builder Software can be downloaded from our Web site at www.appliedbiosystems.com/filebuilder
Convenient Online Ordering
The Applied Biosystems SNP Genotyping Assays online product page (snp.appliedbiosystems.com) lets you
search, select, and order from our library of over 4.5 million TaqMan® SNP Genotyping Assays. You can search
for SNPs using any of the following criteria: National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) gene ID,
SNP reference ID, gene symbol, or SNP type (i.e., intronic, exonic, 5’ untranslated region [UTR], 3’ UTR). Each
SNP assay includes all the information you need for your studies, including allele frequencies (if available),
context sequence, and assay protocols. TaqMan® Drug Metabolism Genotyping Assays can be searched at
dme.appliedbiosystems.com using specific allele nomenclature (i.e. CYP2C9*3A).
For Research Use Only. Not for diagnostic procedures. Practice of the patented 5’ Nuclease Process requires a license from Applied Biosystems. The purchase of TaqMan® SNP Genotyping Assays includes an immunity from suit under patents specified in the product insert
to use only the amount purchased for the purchaser’s own internal research when used with the separate purchase of an Authorized 5’ Nuclease Core Kit. No other patent rights are conveyed expressly, by implication, or by estoppel. For further information on purchasing

Free Study Design Tool for Tag SNP Selection
SNPbrowser Software simplifies genotyping study design by facilitating easy and intuitive selection of the
optimal SNP assay set for each project. You can download complimentary SNPbrowser Software at
www.allsnps.com/snpbrowser. The software enables you to view SNPs in the context of a physical map,
a linkage disequilibrium (LD) map, haplotype block information, and tagging SNP calculations. When you
have selected your SNPs of interest, order TaqMan® SNP Genotyping Assays by directly uploading SNPs from
the software to the Applied Biosystems Web site (snp.appliedbiosystems.com).
