Assembly Guide
Using a craft knife, remove the individual elements one by
one from the pre-cut wooden framework. Finish each piece
by smoothing it with sandpaper to remove the residue of the
connecting ribs and any other small imperfections.
Fit and glue the piece made in the previous step in the
corresponding slots and notches of piece 1K.
Remove pieces 1H and 1K from the pre-cut framework. After
smoothing them, glue them together as shown, making sure
that they are exactly perpendicular to each other.
Cut out and prepare piece 1J, then glue it in the position shown
in the photograph to the assembly made in Step 4.
Remove pieces 1D and 1C and place them on a flat surface.
Glue them together and leave them to dry before using them.
Position the assembly made in the previous step so that side
1H rests on the work surface. After cutting and preparing piece
1P, glue it to the back of piece 1K in the position shown.

Prepare piece 1M and glue it in position as shown.
Remove the other pair of pieces 1N and 1O. Fit and glue them
to the opposite side, in the same way as you did in Step 9.
Also remove pieces 1B and 1F and glue them in the position
shown in the photograph.
Remove and prepare pieces 1E and 1L, then glue them to
piece 1K as shown.
With the edge of a flat file, go over the slots of the stringers
of piece 1A, gently smoothing them to ensure the best
possible support.
Remove and prepare piece 1A, and glue it onto the assembly
made previously, in the position shown. Prepare one pair of
the pieces 1N and 1O, then fit and glue them where indicated,
making sure that each one is in the correct position.

When the glue has set, use the craft knife to trim off the excess
length of the stringer and smooth the cut surface with a flat file
if necessary.
Use a fine abrasive to go over the outer surfaces of the
assembly gently, to smooth the edges and remove any defects,
which would make fitting the fuselage skin difficult.
Take the 30 x 4mm dowel (far left) and round off the two ends
as shown. Then cut them off so as to obtain two pieces 4 mm
long.

Repeat the operations of Steps 12 and 13, fitting the remaining
stringers round the assembly. Do not forget to fit the shorter
stringers in the upper part of the nose (as shown in the inset
photograph), and in the underside. Leave to dry thoroughly.
With the assembly positioned as shown, insert and glue the
pieces prepared in Step 16 in the holes indicated by the blue
arrows, with the flat sides inwards. Then, glue the two magnets,
supplied, in the other two holes in 1H, indicated by red arrows.

Glue the two pieces for the cockpit lining to the inside of the
cockpit as shown.
Take the photo-etched piece S01 and fold it to make the shape
required, as shown in this step and the next one.
Carefully smooth the whole assembly to remove all the excess
filler, then apply an undercoat of primer/filler. Leave to dry,
then smooth with a very fine abrasive paper, such as is used
for car bodywork.
Paint the whole assembly green, preferably with an airbrush,
and leave to dry.
From the specially printed card, cut two pieces to line the
interior of the cockpit, using a very sharp craft knife.

S01
Once you have folded the photo-etched piece into the shape
of the seat S01, apply cyanoacrylate glue to the joins. Do the
same with piece S02, and you will have two seat supports,
which are identical but mirror images of each other.

Remove the instrument panel S37 from the photo-etched sheet
and remove the connecting ribs with a file.
Apply a coat of primer to the panel, then paint it black (see
inset) preferably using an airbrush. With the point of a craft
knife blade, scrape the heads of the four screws securing
each instrument to expose the colour of the metal underneath.
Glue the instrument panel onto the card printed with the
instruments, making sure it is perfectly centred. Apply a
protective coat of matt transparent varnish.

With the craft knife, cut away the excess printed card. Then with
a brush, apply a coat of glossy, transparent varnish onto the
face of each instrument to imitate the glass.
Take and prepare pieces 1L and 1G, then fit one onto the other
and glue them together as shown.
Glue the instrument panel made in Step 37 onto the back of
the panel assembled in Step 38, making sure that they are
perfectly aligned.

Remove the steering wheel S39 from the photo-etched sheet,
apply primer and paint it black. Cut the point off a small nail and
paint the nail aluminium colour. When the paint is dry, insert the
nail in the hole of the steering wheel and secure it to piece SD14.
Take the assembly painted in Step 20 and glue the pilot and
co-pilot’s pedals (pieces SD06) in position as shown.
To make the preparation and painting of the control levers
easier, bend them upwards one by one from the photo-etched
sheet as shown in the main photograph and, after you have
applied the primer, paint them all black (see inset photograph).
Very carefully insert and glue the instrument panel in the position
indicated in the photograph (inside the cockpit).
Prepare a mixture of cyanoacrylate glue gel and talcum powder,
then dip one end of each lever into it. Leave to set, then repeat
the operation several times so as to form round knobs. Then
paint them the colours shown in Step 47.
Insert and glue the seats in position. If necessary, adjust the
holes in which they fit with a file.

Fit the pilot’s and co-pilot’s joysticks, prepared in Step 53,
in the sockets provided on the cockpit floor. After you have
checked that the joysticks are at the correct angle, secure
them with a drop of glue.
Take the top part of the cockpit S87 and, after applying primer,
paint the inside (only) green.
Take the levers (pieces C20 and C21) and, after applying
primer, paint them red and black as illustrated.
Fit and glue the central console, assembled in Step 49, into the
position shown.
Glue the two levers prepared in the previous step between the
pilots’ seats, in the positions shown in the photograph.
Remove the pieces S39 from the photo-etched sheet and, after
applying primer, paint them black. When dry, fit them without
gluing them onto the two pieces SD16 and SD17, which you
prepared earlier and painted aluminium colour.

Using a sharp blade, cut out the interior lining for the cockpit
roof and the two upper parts of the instrument panel from the
pre-printed card, as shown in the photograph.
Glue the pieces prepared in the previous step in the position
indicated and carefully paint the details.

Take the pieces C19 and C18 which form the compass, glue
them together and paint the instrument in the colours shown in
the photograph.
60
C19 C18
Insert and glue the compass into the slot provided directly
below the windows.
Remove piece S43 from the photo-etched sheet. To make
it into the required shape, bend it firmly along the fold lines
with flat long-nosed pliers. So as not to deform it, support the
folding process with a metal ruler as shown.
61 62 S43
Continue carrying out this folding operation progressively,
checking that the folds correspond to the shape of the cockpit
roof. Put the photo-etched plate which contains piece S44
(windscreen wipers) in a safe place, ready to be fitted later.

After applying the primer to piece S43 folded earlier in step
62, paint it in aluminium colour. Leave it to dry, then glue into
position as shown.
Let the touch-up paint dry before carrying out the next steps.
Having completed the previous operations, glue the cockpit roof
onto the nose assembly of the aircraft which you made earlier. It
is advisable to clean the inside of the acetate windows carefully
before gluing the roof in place.
Take the propeller SD58 and the nose cone SD57. After
removing any imperfections there may be with a fine file, apply a
coat of primer and, when dry, paint them light grey.
Fill, file down and touch up with paint the joints of the assembly
you put together in Step 66. If you use an airbrush, screen off
the door, so as not to paint the interior of the cockpit, and, to be
even safer, mask the front part of the cockpit as well.

When the paint is thoroughly dry, mask the propeller
blades with adhesive tape, as shown, before painting
the leading edges.
When the piece is thoroughly dry, mask the blades as shown in
the photograph and paint just the central part of the propeller
with aluminium colour paint.
Paint the leading edges of the propeller blades black,
as illustrated.
Remove the masking material and leave the paint to
dry thoroughly.
Leave the paint to dry thoroughly, then protect the propeller
with cling film, as shown in the photographs, and paint the
tips of the blades yellow.
If necessary, touch up the base of the blades in black. Keep
all the pieces you have assembled and the remaining materials
for future steps.
