This guide explains how to install the server for the first time.

This guide is intended for use by qualified personnel in charge of installing the

server cabinet.

1.1. Unpacking the Server

Important Before unpacking the server inspect the server packaging

for damage.

W020 WARNING

W020:

The server drawer must not be unpacked before it has reached the

room temperature (24 hours in the computer room).

According to the server configuration, the following items are included:

• Compute Box fully populated

• Empty UBox

• UBox components

• 8-module connecting box

• 16-module connecting box

• Rack-mounting kits

• Screws and washers

The server model is provided on the safety label on the side of the server.

1.2.2. Identifying Server Modules

Server modules are identified by an identification label.

The label gives the MAC address of the BMC embedded management controller.

1.3. Checking Safety Labels

Safety warning labels, including safety notices and graphic symbols, are located

on each server module. Check that the electrical installation in place complies

with the label details.

1.3.1. Server Module Labels

Server Identification Label

The label is located on the side of the server.

Mark Description

A Recycling symbol: indicates the mandatory obligation to

reuse and recycle electronic and electrical equipment

properly.

B Tropicalization symbol: indicates that the device must be

operated within the adequate limits of temperature and

humidity.

C Altitude symbol: indicates that the device must not be

operated at an altitude higher than 2000 meters.

UBox Onboard Battery Label

C003 CAUTION

C003:

The onboard battery should be replaced regularly. It must be replaced

with the same or an equivalent type recommended by the

manufacturer. There is a danger of explosion if another type is used.

Dispose of used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions

UBox Power Supply Unit (PSU) Label

The label is located at the rear of the UBox.

This unit has more than one power supply cord. Disconnect all power

supply cords from the unit before servicing.

Proceed as follows:

1. Power OFF the server

2. Switch OFF the site power breakers

3. Remove all power supply cords from the unit

2.1. Installing a Hitachi DS7020 Server

D013:

The server weighs 40 kg when fully populated. Two people are required

to unpack it and install it in the cabinet.

Important The server is delivered fully populated. It is mandatory to

use a lifting device to install it.

However, it is possible to reduce the server weight by

removing the components from the compute box.

1. Prepare the rails

1. Loosen the four screws of each rail.

Insert the server using the guiding pins.

5. Secure the server in place

1. Push the server until it stops.

2. Tighten both captive screws.
