1.1 General introduction

About this software package

This software package should be used to creat e the pre set buttons in the user modu le. It can also be

used to control the display daily.

The operator has th e possibility to c reate different setting s for each of the 10 po ssible u se r buttons . That

goes from layout (window positioning) till display control (gamma, color temperature, contrast, etc.).

1.2 PC requirements

PC must contain one free serial port.

DPI settings must be set to normal.

Minimum hardware requirements

• Pentium II 400 MHz or higher

• Memo ry : 256 MB Ram

• One free serial port

Operating system

• Windows 2000

•WindowsXP

DPI setting

To avoid the missing of buttons and/of the system uses different fonts, set the DPI setting to the normal

size (96 dpi).

To set the dpi setting to the normal size :

1. Open the Windows display settings via Start → Settings → D isp lay o r via right click on the des kto p

and selecting Properties.

2. Select Settings.

3. Click on Advanced.

4. Click the General tab.

5. In Display, select Small font (96 dpi).

6. Close the display settings window.

How to start up ?

1. Double click on the desktop icon. (im age 1-1)

Or,

go to Start → Programs and select LD display → Expert

The program will be initialized a nd starts up with th e latest stored settin gs.

With the user interface, the following functions are possible:

• Display On/Off

• Contrast adjustment

• Scheduling

• Selecting a preset button.

With the operator module it is possible to define the preset buttons of the user module.

2.4 Making a connection

What is possible ?

When working off line , it is possible to make a serial connection with the display at any time.

How to make the connection ?

1. Click on the commu nication icon .

This button acts as a toggle between online and off line.

When the connection is made, a green dot appears in the bottom right corner of the interface.

When there is no connection, a red dot is displayed in the bottom right corner of the interface.

When the serial port is not COM1, the result will be “Could no open Com port 1”. Follow

the next work-around to solve this problem.

When serial port is not COM1

The following steps must be done the first time the software is used:

1. Use XLite Toolset to do the initial configuration (this should already be done before starting the expert

module for the first time).

2. Start up the Expert module and click on the communication icon

.

This will result in an error “Could not open Com port 1”.

3. Close t he Solaris LD operating software.

4. Start XLite Toolset and click on Autodetect. Set the communication settings correct (fill out the c

orre-

sponding COM p ort).

5. Press OK and close XLite Toolset.

6. Start the Solaris LD operating software, Expert module.

7. Make communication.

2.5 Communication settings

Overview

The communication settings are made in the LD display Configuration software “XLite Toolset”. To get an

overview of the settings, select Expert → Communication settings ..

3. PRESETS AND PRESET BUTTONS

3.1 About preset buttons

Overview

The p reset buttons in the user interface can be declared in the operator interface.

These buttons can contain the following information:

• Display information such as:

- Display On or Off.

- Contrast setting

- Color temperature setting

- Gamma correction setting

• Layout information such as:

- Window position

- Window dimensions

- Z-ordering

-Colorkey

- Alpha blending

- Viewport setting

The user interface contains 10 possible preset buttons.

3.2 About presets

Overview

It is possible to create as m a n y presets as you like. The created presets are stored in the available preset

pane fo r later use when associating them with one of th e preset butto ns.

4 presets are def ault defined and stored in th e available preset pane and cannot be changed. These

preset can be used as a starting point to create new presets.

These defaults are :

3.3 Change preset button order

How to change ?

1. Click on a User Preset butt on which has a preset association (1). (image 3-2)

The background of the User Preset button becomes blue to ind ica te tha t it is selected (2).

2. Click on the up or down arrow key (3) until the preset of the selected button is ass

ociated with the new

desired button (4).

How to add ?

1. Select a preset out of the list of available presets (1). (image 3-3)

When the preset is already associated with a button, this button will be highlighted and the preset cannot

be associated again with another button.

When the preset is not yet associated with a button, no b utton w ill be highlighted, but the + buttons

becomes active.

2. Click on t he + button (2).

The preset will be associated to the first free button (3). This button will be highlighted (4).

3. Change the preset button order to the desired button.

The right pane will be updated (2).

The following information is given:

- Name of the preset

• 3 tab pages containing the following information:

o

Preset : name and description

o

Display : all display settings

o

Layout : all layout settings

2. Click on D isp lay to show the display information (3).

The d isp la y tab shows the follo win g information:

- the On / Off state of the display

- Contrast setting

- Color temperature

3. Click on the Layout tab to show layout information (3).

The positioning of the windows is given.

Get content preset

3.7.2 Edit the conte nt of a preset

Overview

To edit the content of a p reset, follow the same procedure as when a new preset is created (see "Display

page", page 19 and "Layout page", page 23).

Click on the tabs and the actual settings will be visible. Change these settings and finish by clicking on

Save.

When clicking on Revert, no changes will be made to the preset.

How to delete, way 1 ?

1. Click on a preset (1). (image 3-6)

The preset will be highlighted.

2. Click on Delete (2).

A delete confirmation message will be displayed. (image 3-7)

3. Click Yes to de lete.

1. Right click on a preset. (image 3-8)

The preset will be highlighted and a pop-up menu appears.

2. Select Delete.

A delete confirmation message will be displayed (image 3-7).

3.9 Apply to display

Overview

A preset can be applied immediately to the display by checking the check box Apply to display.

The set tings of the actual selected preset will be uploaded to the display.
