1.1 Introduction
Overview
Director Toolset is a software tool to set up, congure, manage and control all D320, LEDPro and DX-based
systems, with scalable and expandable functionality, for all users on Windows, Mac and Linux platforms.
The concept of this Director Toolset software is modular. The basic package can be extended with several
optional plug-in modules, now or in the future available.
The Director Toolset software works with complete projects which can handle different setups simultane-
ously. On all these setups, different presets can be loaded. These terminology will be used through the
complete software.
The next topics will explain more in detail the used terminology.
For those who have used the XLite Toolset software (previous generation control software) before, here’s
a list of the most important new features of the Director Toolset compared to the XLite Toolset:
Director Toolset is a stand-alone application that runs on a Java Virt
ual Machine and that does not
require extra services to run. It is a all-in-one application without need of the AdminEngine and Driver
processes.
With Director Toolset you can control several setups simultaneously. Even when the setups are con-
nected via different COM ports or Ethernet port, it is possible to switch from one to another in a split
second.
Director Toolset can be used to design and create a setup ofine, while you have no hardware devices
at hand to detect. This feature makes it possible to design and prepare a show on the road, so that
most work is done once you arrive at the show. You then just need to plug-in, detect and get the show
running.
Director Toolset can be used to create creative layouts and print out the mounting and cabling schemes
for the creative building blocks and pixels.
1.2 About a Setup
What is a Setup ?
A Setup is a collection of hardware devices, such as digitizers, LED devices, FiberLinks, e.g., that are
linked together. When this setup is connected via a COM port to a computer, the devices become available
for Director Toolset.

1. Basic Concepts
A Setup can be e.g. a “D320 PL” with “16 ILite3 tiles” connected to the computer. It contains how the tiles
are mounted (columns and rows) or how the inputs are congured.

Setup 1 and setup 2 two different setups but they contain the same hardware devices (hardware compo-
nents).
In principle, each D320 based setup is connected to one COM port of the computer. A second setup
should be connected to
another COM port.
