Invacare LiNX IDC enables an attendant to control the wheelchair when necessary. It features intuitive speed and direction control, an emergency stop function, and various programmability options. 1.2Intendeduse
TheIDCcanbeusedtoassigncontrolofthepower
wheelchairfromtheoccupanttoanattendant.TheIDC
isnotsuitableforthewheelchairoccupanthimself.The
attendantwalksbehindortothesideofthewheelchair,and
canintuitivelydeterminespeedanddirectionofmovement
bypressingahandlewithminimumforce.Adjustments
canalsobemadetothewheelchairusingdedicated
programming.OncetheattendantactivatestheIDC,he
takesovercompleteresponsibilityforthewheelchairand
itsoccupant.
1.3Servicelife
Weestimateaservicelifeofveyearsforthisproduct,
provideditisusedinstrictaccordancewiththeintended
useassetoutinthisdocumentandallmaintenanceand
servicerequirementsaremet.Theestimatedservicelifecan
beexceedediftheproductiscarefullyusedandproperly
maintained,andprovidedtechnicalandscienticadvances
donotresultintechnicallimitations.Theservicelifecan
alsobeconsiderablyreducedbyextremeorincorrectusage.
Thefactthatweestimateaservicelifeforthisproductdoes
notconstituteanadditionalwarranty.

Connectorpinsoncablesconnectedtothepower
modulecanstillbeliveevenwhenthesystem
isoff.
Cableswithlivepinsshouldbeconnected,
restrainedorcovered(withnon-conductive
materials)sothattheyarenotexposedto
humancontactormaterialsthatcouldcause
electricalshorts.
Whencableswithlivepinshavetobe
disconnected,forexample,whenremovingthe
buscablefromtheremoteforsafetyreasons,
makesuretorestrainorcoverthepins(with
non-conductivematerials).

visiblydamaged.Internalpartsmightbebroken.
Ifunintendedmovementoccurs,stopusingthe
IDCandpowerwheelchairimmediatelyand
contactaqualiedtechnician.

Ifclampingleverorhandleandhousingscrews
arettedtootightlyorreplacedbyhardwarenot
approvedbyInvacare,IDCinternalpartsmight
getdamaged.Thiscouldleadtoanunintended

TheIDCtakesovercontrolofthewheelchairand
mayonlybeusedbyanattendant.Itisimperative
thatthewheelchairoccupanthimselfisnotallowed
tousetheIDC.
FittingshouldonlybecarriedoutbyanInvacare
provider .Whentting,ensurethatthebuscable
isroutedandxedcorrectlytoavoiddamageto
thebuscable.

Theremotethatpowersupthemobilitydeviceisincontrol
ofthewheelchair.
Pressingthepowerbuttononaremotenotincontrol
returnscontrolfromattendanttooccupantandviceversa,
unlessothersettingshavebeenmade.
5.3Settingthespeed
Themaximumspeedofthewheelchaircanbesetbythe
usertomatchhispersonalrequirementsandthesurrounding
conditions.Thecurrentmaximumspeedsetisdisplayed
onthewheelchairspeeddisplayAandcanalsobepreset
there.Youcancarryoutfurtherneadjustmentstothe
maximumspeedontheIDCusingthespeedpotentiometer.

Themoreyoupull,thefasterthewheelchairdrivesuntil
itreachesmaximumspeed.

Afterarestart,thepowerwheelchairalwaysdrives
forwards.
5.4.1Howtosteerthewheelchair
Theelectronicsystemcontainedinthehandle(1)registers
themovementmadebytheattendant'shand.Slight
pressureonthehandletotheleftorrightistranslatedinto
adrivecommandforthedrivewheelssothatbendscanbe
travelledwithouttheneedformuchforce.
Makeyourselffamiliarwithsteeringthewheelchair
viaIDC,sothatnohazardsareposedforthe
occupantorothers.
5.4.2Howthewheelchairreactstohandlemovements
Yousteerthewheelchairbypushingthehandletothesides.
Whetheryouaretravellingforwardsorbackwards,you
mustpushtheleft-handsideofthehandletomakethe
wheelchairturntotheleft.Ifyoupushtheright-handside
ofthehandle,thewheelchairwillturntotheright.

Themorethetriggerleverispulled,thefasterthe
wheelchairdrives.
Tobrakequickly,simplyletgoofthehandle.The
wheelchairbrakes.Ifyoupullthetriggerleverwith
fullforce,thewheelchaircarriesoutan"Emergency
Stop".
5.5Informationonthe“EmergencyStop”
function
WhenusingEmergencystopfunctionwhiledriving,
thewheelchairbrakesharder,thanwhenyoujust
letgoofthetriggerlever.
Therearethreewaystoemergencystopthemobilitydevice.
Ifthewheelchairneedstobestoppedimmediatelydueto
ahazardsituation,pullthetriggerlever(1)rmlyasfaras
possible.Thiscausesanimmediateforceddriveswitch-off.
Onceyoureleasethetriggerlever(1)andtheattendantLED
stopsashing,youcanstarttodrivethewheelchairagain
immediately.
Alternatively,press“forwardsorreverse”pushbuttonto
stopthewheelchair .TheattendantLEDstopsashingand
youcanstarttodrivethewheelchairagainimmediately.

Or,pressthepowerbutton.Thewheelchairneedstopower
up,beforeyoucandrivethewheelchairagain.
5.6Faultdiagnosis
Iftheelectronicsystemshowsafault,usethefollowing
fault-ndingguidetolocatethefault.
Ensurethatthedriveelectronicssystemispowered
upbeforestartinganydiagnosis.
IfthestatusdisplayisOFF:
Checkwhetherthedriveelectronicssystemispowered
up.
Checkwhetherallcablesarecorrectlyconnected.
Ensurethatthebatteriesarenotdischarged.
Ifafaultnumberisdisplayedinthestatusdisplay:
Proceedtothenextsection.
5.6.1Faultcodesanddiagnosiscodes
Thestatusindicatorisyellowwhenremoteisactive.IfthereisafaultdetectedbytheLiNXsystem,thestatusindicatorashes
yellow.Thenumberofashesindicatesthetypeoffault.
Thetablebelowdescribesthefaultindication,andafewpossibleactionsthatcanbetakentorectifytheproblem.The
actionslistedarenotinanyparticularorderandaresuggestionsonly.Theintentionisthatoneofthesuggestionsmayhelp
