NOTE: Any serious incident involving this medical device must be reported to STERIS and the competent authority of
the member state in which the user and/or patient is established.
WARNING
RISK OF INJURY
The modification of this medical device without manufacturer authorization is prohibited.
Pinch Points
WARNING
PINCHING HAZARD
When floating is enabled, moving the floating tabletop can cause pinch points which can injure the patient
or the surgical team.
To avoid serious injury, keep limbs, fingers and other body areas clear of all pinch points when positioning
the table.
When manually positioning table sections, stay clear of potential pinching hazards.
Floor Lock
WARNING
PERSONAL INJURY HAZARD
Tabletop functions are available even if table floor locks are NOT engaged. Lock table before positioning
the patient and starting the surgical procedure.
Do not try to move the table when it is locked.
Make sure the table is stable before engaging the floor locks. If the table is unstable move it to a flatter
surface then engage the floor locks.
2 — Safety Precautions
7
Operator Manual CMAX™ X-Ray PS00000507_A
Patient must be secured to the table in accordance with recommended positioning practices.
Unanticipated patient or table movement could result in death or serious injury
Moving the Table with a Patient Aboard
WARNING
RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY & EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
The table can only be unlocked if the floating tabletop is not activated.
The table is intended to be used for moving or adjusting patients in the operating room. It is not to be
used to transport patients outside the operating room. When moving or adjusting the table with a patient
aboard, the following conditions shall be met:
The tabletop must be leveled and centered over the column.
Only lateral slide up to 50mm (2”) is allowed.
The tabletop shall be lowered below 900mm (35”).
The patient shall be in normal orientation and the total weight (patient + accessory) shall not exceed
230kg (507lbs).
The headrest (BF755) may be mounted to the tabletop.
Make sure the battery is properly charged before moving the table.
Before moving the table, ensure its path is clear of obstruction. The table is not intended to cross
threshold or go up or down steps. Always move the table very carefully.
Do not leave objects on the base as they may fall off during motorized manoeuvres and cause a jam
when lowering the column’s sliding covers.
Handling the Surgical Table
WARNING
RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY & EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
Avoid rough handling of the surgical table during operation. Do not exert excessive lateral loads on it, do
not pull or push the surgical table with the accessories or with the rails.
Handle the remote control and the override system with care. Do not press the keypad with too much
force.
2 — Safety Precautions
8
PS00000507_A CMAX™ X-Ray Operator Manual
Handle the cables with care when connecting or disconnecting the remote control, the joystick, or the
power cord set.
Do not sit on either end of the table, especially when the tabletop is not centered, as this can cause the
table to become unstable and tip.
Do not stand on the base of the surgical table as it can damage the covers.
Pay attention to the power cord when it is connected to the surgical table as it is a tripping hazard. Route
the power cord to the receptacle to minimize the possibility of personnel tripping. Disconnect the cable
before moving the table.
Weight Capacity
WARNING
RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY & EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
Do not exceed a patient + accessory combined weight of 230 kg (507 lbs) for the standard described
positions and follow the indications and warnings provided.
The use of certain extensions may lower the patient + accessories max weight. When extensions are
installed on the CMAX™ X-Ray surgical table, consult the user manuals for these extensions to find out if
there are weight restrictions related to their use.
Certain positions may cause the tabletop to be significantly off-centered from the column. In these
situations, ensure that there is sufficient stability for the type of surgical procedure requirements.
For all other uses, please contact our network for advice. If you are working intensively on the patient’s
chest, we recommend that you bring the tabletop back to a centered position on the column.
Positioning the Patient
WARNING
RISK OF INJURY
The positions described in this manual are given purely as examples. The accessories required are not
always shown. Under no circumstance should they replace the instructions given by the surgical team in
charge of the patient.
Ensure the stability of the patient and the table when making combined position.
2 — Safety Precautions
9
Operator Manual CMAX™ X-Ray PS00000507_A
Secure the patient properly (ex. using straps), especially when the table is inclined or tilted.
Long surgical procedures can cause tissue compression over bony prominence on patients and result in
tissue ischemia, pressure injury, and post operative problems. Monitor and reposition patients during
surgical procedures, or use patient positioning aids to alleviate areas of high pressure and allow tissue
reperfusion for extended procedures.
Connections
WARNING
RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY & EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
The wire terminals of the hand control and joystick are equipped with soft locks that lock into place. Do
not pull on the hand control or Joystick to disconnect them.
The E-Serve connection is only to be used by STERIS service team and with material approved by STERIS.
Never try to connect a device not supplied by STERIS or approved for use with CMAX™ X-Ray to the
surgical table.
Always use the power cord provided by STERIS.
The operator must not make physical contact with the patient while plugging or unplugging the remote
control or joystick, or while handling connectors on these devices.
Potential Equalization Conductor
WARNING
RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY & EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
Connect together potential equalization conductors to avoid problems with differing potentials across
networks.
Potential equalization conductors protect patients from electric shock during procedures where even
small potentials may cause harm.
When a potential equalization conductor is connected, the table MUST NOT be used with a defibrillator.
When using potential equalization conductors in an electro-medical system, this system must meet IEC
60601-1 requirements.
2 — Safety Precautions
10

Antistatic Link
WARNING
RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY & EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
If antistatic connection is necessary, use only the pads that have been specially developed for this
product. Put the patient in direct contact with these pads and use the table on an antistatic floor, or
connect it to an equipotential cable using the socket designed for it.
Electrical Safety
WARNING
RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY
To prevent any risk of electric shock, the CMAX™ X-Ray should only be connected to a grounded power
supply system.
The CMAX™ X-Ray must always be positioned so that the power cord can be disconnected easily when
connected to the table.
Disconnecting the power cord isolates the CMAX™ X-Ray table from supply mains.
It is preferable to use the batteries instead of the mains if the protective ground in the operating room is
in doubt.
The use of high-frequency surgical equipment, cardiac defibrillators, and cardiac defibrillator monitors in
association with the CMAX™ X-Ray table creates a risk of burns, explosion, or electrical shock.
In case of any damage to the power supply, power cord, plug, or IEC receptacle, do not connect the
equipment and immediately contact STERIS technical support.
Accessories
WARNING
RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY & EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
If accessories made by other manufacturers are used, it is the user’s responsibility to ensure they are
compatible with CMAX™ X-Ray and that they do not create a hazard to the patient and the surgical team.
Before connecting accessories to the surgical table, make sure they are not damaged.
2 — Safety Precautions
11
Operator Manual CMAX™ X-Ray PS00000507_A
The end user must ensure that the intended use and the conditions of use (including the safe working
load) of these accessories made by other manufacturers are compatible with the claims of CMAX™ X-Ray
surgical tables.
Emergency Mode
WARNING
RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY & EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
Use the override system only in emergency mode. When the override system is used, the other control
systems, including the main hand control, are automatically switched off. Since the ALS sensors are
deactivated, ensure you look out for potential section conflicts when moving the tabletop. The pre-
selected patient orientation set as default is the normal orientation; there is no reverse orientation. There
is no immobilization warning LED: you must engage the table locks before moving the tabletop. When
using the override system, always make sure the surgical table is stable and the table locks are engaged
before moving the tabletop, especially when moving the tabletop to greatly off-centered positions.
Cleaning
WARNING
RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY & EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
Do not use chlorine-based products or other products containing chlorine derivatives; these can cause
excessive corrosion.
Ensure protective covers are properly installed over receptacles to prevent fluids from reaching the
receptacles. After cleaning the table, ensure no residual water remains near the receptacles.
Before cleaning the table, make sure it is switched off and the protective covers are properly installed
over the receptacles.
Do not immerse the hand control or the joystick and do not spray cleaning products directly onto the

Characteristics
The CMAX™ X-Ray operating table is equipped with a carbon fiber floating tabletop offering exceptional radiological
access.
The CMAX™ X-Ray is suitable for image-guided surgical procedures and has been designed to support patient +
accessory weights of up to 230 kg (507.1 lbs) in multiple position as described in this manual.
The table is controlled by an ergonomic hand control or the joystick in dual-mode (wired/Bluetooth). The innovative
integrated power supply allows the user to choose whether to operate the table on battery or main power. Most table
articulations are powered, whereas the floating tabletop slides manually. E-Serve™ allows for remote diagnostics and
maintenance via computer by approved STERIS technicians (errors, fault log).
The integrated ALS™ linear and angular position sensors prevent collisions between the powered sections of the table
and the floor.
