1.1 Before starting
Overview
This guide is intended for system administrators. It assumes you are familiar with the W indows operating
system at your site and with standard system administration tasks.
The C D-ROM in your package contains all the product data for the S pectacular, including a Windows-
based installation program. You can install the software from the CD-ROM.

2. INSTALLATION OF THE SPECTACULAR
SOFTWARE
Close all other programs before starting the installation procedure.
2.1 Function of the different components

DirectX 8.1 DirectX installer provided by the install package. Manual
installation is necessary after the installation procedure is
finished.
DirectX is a set of multimedia programming interfaces from
Microsoft for Windows that provide low-level access to the
hardware for improv ed performa nce.

2.2 Installation of the typical Spectacular components
Starting the set up
1. Insert the Spectacular installation CD in the CD reader and browse to the CD root.
2. Double click on Setup.exe to run the program.
The Setup window opens with system information (System info). (image 2-1)
Set up has checked if the current user has administrator privileges or not. If not, the procedure will be
terminate.
It gives the operating system and the system memory.
3. Click Next to continue.
The license window opens (License agreement). (image 2-2)
Read this te xt carefully.
4. Do you agree with the license text?
If yes, Click Yes to accept the agreement and to continue to the next step.
The setup wizard checks first w hich packages are installed and which has to be installed (Checking for
Spectacular components on Si5). (image 2-3)
If no , click No to interrupt the installation procedure.
5. Click Next to continue.
The path selection window opens (Destination path for Spectacular package). (image 2-4)
6. Select a path and c lick Next.
The setup choice window will open (Choose the setup type for the Spectacular package). (image 2-5)
The following choices are possible:
- Typical : program will be installed with the most common options. Recommended.
- Custom : the customer has the choice which options must be installed. For advanced users and
system administrators.
7. Make your choice by selecting tumbnail button.
If you have chosen for Custom, a check list will pop up (Select optional Spectacular components). Make
your choices and click Next .
The check setup info will be displayed (Check setup information). (image 2-6)
This gives info about:
- The way of installation
- ins tallation directory
- Components to be installed
When Spectacular was already installed, it informs that an update will be done.
8. Click Next to continue the installation.
When finished, a final window will be displayed.

2. Click OK to register.

Installation of DIVX
1. During the installation the setup program checks if DIVX Version 5.02 is installed on the PC. If not, the
installation procedure will be started. (image 2-8)
2. Click Next.
The welcome window will be displayed.
3. Click Next.
The License window will be displayed.
4. Click Yes to accept the license.
The destination window opens.
5. Browse to the desired location if the proposed location is not the desired one and click Next.
The Select components window opens. (image 2-9)
6. By default, both components are checked. Click on DivX Player 2.0 Alpha 5 to unselect.
Click on Next.
The ready to install window opens.
7. Click Next.
The finish window will open.
8. Click Close to finish the DivX installation procedure.

1. During the installation the setup program checks if Elecard MPEG-2 player software is installed on the
PC. If not, the installation procedure will be started. (image 2-10)

8. Click Cancel.

Associate message
Windows Mediaplayer
1. During the installation the setup program checks if the Windows Mediaplayer software is installed on
the PC. If not, the installation procedure will be started.
A first message window will be displayed. Do not let the mediaplayer installer to reboot the PC. (im-
age 2-12)
2. Click OK.
The license w indow will opens. (image 2-13)
3. Click o n I accept.
A welcome window opens.
4. Click o n Next.
The Privacy options windows opens. (image 2-14)
5. Unsele ct the first 3 options and click Next.
The Customize install options window will be displayed. (image 2-15)
6. Select all options and click Finish.
The mediaplayer starts up. (image 2-16)
7. Close the mediaplayer.

A silent installation will take place.

2.3 Installation of the database
Database installation
1. Place the Oracle 8i installation CD-ROM in the CD reader.
2. Browse to the Spectacular install directory and select installers Oracle 8i install.cmd
3. Double click on install.cmd.
4. Indicate the CD-ROM drive (e.g. E:).
5. Enter the O ra cle installation folder, e.g. d:\oracle .
Note: No w hitespaces allo wed in the installation path.
6. Click Next to continue with the installation.
The installation can take about 15 minutes.
When the script ends with OR ACLE 8i INSTALLED, the dat abase is installed on the comp uter.
Services setup
1. Select Start Settings Control Panel.
2. Select Administrative To ols Services.
The Services window opens. (image 2-18)
3. Double click one after each other on the next services and set the startup setting as indicated.
The Properties window opens. Click on the combo box next to Startup type.

Oracle services
Database creation
1. Browse to the Spectacular ins ta l l directory and selec t installers Oracle 8i createdb.cmd
2. Enter the O ra cle installation folder, e.g. d:\oracle .
3. Press N ext to continue.
The database will be created. It can take about 20 minutes.
The default database name will be SIOP3.
4. When the database is created, continue with the next procedure.
