Barco on Stage!
The 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Kiev on
Saturday, May 21st, showcased some of Barco’s latest LED and
projection technologies. From the brand-new OLite 510 display
to the XLM H25 and SLM R12+ projectors, the spectacular stage
design of the show attested to Barco’s technology leadership
in the international events industry.
When the lights went down and the stage lighted up for the
final of this Song Contest, an estimated 400 million viewers
world wide saw a spectacular stage featuring 86 tiles of
Barco’s brand new OLite 510 LED display technology.

With its 5000 Nit light output, 15 bit processing, IP65 rating
and full TUV approval, the
OLite 510 brings an ultra bright
indoor/outdoor LED display with all the benefits of SMD LED
technology, such as wide viewing angles and short viewing
distances, turning it into the ultimate product of choice for both
Corporate and Entertainment Events applications. At the
Eurovision Song Contest, Barco’s OLite 510 was creatively inte-
grated into the design of the stage floor and backdrop.
Next to Barco’s OLite 510, also
280 ILite 8 LED tiles were
integrated in the impressive set design of the Eurovision Song
Contest, alongside two Barco
XLM H25 projectors, three Barco
ELM R18 projectors, as well as two SLM R12+ and three SLM
R10 projectors.
Barco rental partner, Massteknik, delivered all
visualization equipment used on the show.

Facts and Figures
• 4 operators needed a total of 41 days to program the light and
video for this show.
• 2 graphic designers worked around the clock for 6 weeks to
make the digital content for the show.
• 21 000 kg was the total weight for video and lighting cables.
• 2 weeks build-up time was needed for the set, including light,
sound and video
• 32 people were needed to just run video and lighting effects
for the show.
• 8 different nationalities were represented in the lighting &
video crew
