Rolscreen Cartridge Removal:
A. With the screen fully raised; Remove the screen guide attachment screws. Number of screws will vary
depending on window height.
B. Grasp the guide and pull it toward the center of the
window and then down to remove.
Repeat 1A-1B on other guide.
Operating a retractable screen may result in a static discharge. A static discharge in the
presence of a flammable substance such as aerosol lubricant could cause ignition. To avoid
injury and/or property damage, do not use any flammable substance on a retractable screen
.

C. Remove the Rolscreen cartridge attachment screw from each end cap. Be sure to hold the Rolscreen cartridge
when removing screws so it does not fall out of window.

D. Remove the Rolscreen cartridge and set on smooth flat work surface.

A. Remove the head cover by pulling the bottom of the cover up and lift cover off the screen assembly.

B. Push one end cap away from the screen roll, repeat on the other end and remove the screen roll.
C. Grasp one of the end caps and the back cover and disconnect the cover from the end cap. Repeat on the
other end.
D. A disassembled cartridge is shown here, it includes:
1 head cover
1 screen roll
1 back cover
2 mounting brackets/end caps (1 LH & 1 RH)

A. Align the tab on one end cap with the slot in one end of the back cover press into place.

B. Repeat on the other side.
C. With the screen cloth roll control bar on the bottom,
align the end of the roll with the end cap hole and
insert it into position.

D. On the other end, align the end cap star gear with
the matching end of the tube.

NOTE: In some cases it may be necessary to use a flat
blade screwdriver to adjust the position of the star
gear to align with the tube.
E. Install the head cover onto the assembly being sure to align the end
cap tab with the slots on the back side on the top of the cover. Rotate
cover and snap the bottom into place.

A. From the interior position the Rolscreen Assembly at the head of the window.
B. While holding the assembly in position, install an attachment screw at a slight angle up (~25° ) in the hole of the
end caps on each side of the assembly.

F. Add tension to the retraction spring: Locate the
slotted end of the screen assembly; to set the
tensions - use a flat blade screwdriver to turn the
spring assembly in the direction of the arrows.
Depending on the width unit, the number of turns
(full rotations) required to re-tension when the
tension is released will vary:
Units with frame width of 20-3/4" or less require 11
turns for re-tensioning.
Units with frame width > 20-3/4" require 27 turns for
re-tensioning.
After the final rotation, turn the screwdriver back
slightly until resistance is felt indicating the spring
tension will hold. If resistance is felt immediately do
not force it back any further because the tensioning
mechanism could be damaged by too much force.

C. Place the top of a Rolscreen guide against the frame
with pull bar weatherstrip in the guide channel.
(It may be necessary to reposition the pull bar to
facilitate proper installation of the guide.)
Position the bottom of the guide against the frame
and on top of the sill.

NOTE: It is critical the exterior side of each guide channel be positioned in the Rolscreen assembly end cap as shown
and the bottom of the guide touches the sill stop and pressed firmly against the jamb stops.
D. While pressing the guide to the frame with the
bottom of the guide touching the sill stop; install the
guide screws beginning with the bottom screw. The
number of screws will vary depending on the height
of the window.

CAUTION
Install the second guide, repeating steps 4C – 4D.
E. Test the closing operation of screen by pushing down
firmly with both hands towards the ends of the screen
bar and snapping the bar into place at the sill.
