Pella Rolscreen is a retractable screen for windows that provides insect protection and privacy while allowing fresh air to circulate. A. Position left-hand end cap against left-hand jamb stop and up tight
against head stop. Drive (1) screw through hole in end cap and into
edge of jamb stop. Repeat for right-hand end cap.

B. Position back cover as shown and press firmly (snap fit) to attach the
back cover to the end caps.
C. Prepare the screen roller for installation by positioning the chamfer
end up.

E. Slide the top of the left-hand screen guide over the screen pull bar
and into the bottom of the end cap. Position the bottom of the left-
hand screen guide against the jamb stop and flush with the sill.
H. Snap the front cover on by hooking it over the top of the end caps
and pressing down on the bottom of the cover.

F. Drive two or three screws through the holes provided in the guide
into the jamb stops.
G. Repeat Steps 1E and 1F for the right-hand screen guide.

D. Install the left end of the roller into the left end cap (the plastic piece
at the top of the screen guide), and then install the right end of
the roller into the right end cap. Ensure that the screen cloth is not
unrolled more than 2”.
Note: The screen cloth should be inside the end cap.

A. Remove the front cover by pulling the bottom of the cover toward
roomside. After the bottom is released, push the cover up to
remove.
B. Raise or lower the screen at least 12” from the top. Remove each
end of the pull bar by tilting the pull bar and sliding it out of each
screen guide, as shown. Allow the screen to wind up on the roller.
C. Remove the screen assembly from the end caps.
Note: This will release the tension on the spring inside the roller.

I. Test the closing operation of screen by pushing down firmly with
both hands on the screen bar and snapping the bar into place at the
sill.
J. Test the smoothness of screen operation by raising and lowering
the screen several times. If the roller tension seems too tight or too
loose, follow Step 3 to adjust the roller tension.
D. Locate the tab on the end of the roller and position the chamfer
down.
Note: The chamfer must be down to adjust the screen’s tension.
E. Reinstall the left end of the roller into the left end cap (the plastic
piece at the top of the screen guide), and then install the right end
of the roller into the right end cap. Ensure that the screen cloth is
not unrolled more than 2”. (See Photo 1D.)
Note: The screen cloth should be inside the end cap.

Cleaning The Screen:
A. Latch the screen in the closed position.
B. Vacuum the screen using an upholstery brush attachment. If
necessary, use the exhaust attachment to blow debris off the exterior
side of the screen.

F. Pull the screen down as far as it will go (past the sill) and allow the
screen to slightly retract until the roller locks into place.
G. Remove the roller assembly from the end caps with the extended
screen in the locked position.

H. Roll the screen back up by hand.
Note: The screen must be uniformly rolled, and the edges must be kept
straight and even.
A. Gently operate the screen by raising and lowering three or four
times to realign. If it does not retrack, continue to Step 4B.
B. Close the screen. Release the pull bar and hold the pull bar just
above the sill. Push screen cloth completely out of both guides the
entire length of the guides.
C. Ensure that the screen cloth is behind the end cap (see Photo 1D).
D. Raise the pull bar as high as possible.
Note: Raising the pull bar re-engages the screen.
E. Gently raise and lower the screen three to four times to realign it.

A. If the screen’s pull bar comes out of the screen guide, pull the screen
down at least 12”. Tilt the pull bar and insert the left end of the
pull bar into the left screen guide. Slide the right end of the pull bar
into the right screen guide.
B. Insert one end in each guide. To reinsert the screen cloth into the
track, follow Step 4.

I. Position the chamfer end up (see Photo 1C).
J. Install the left end of the roller into the left end cap (the plastic piece
at the top of the screen guide), and then install the right end of
the roller into the right end cap. Ensure that the screen cloth is not
unrolled more than 2”.
Note: The screen cloth should be inside the end cap (see Photo 3J).
K. Insert the screen pull bar into the screen track by following Step 5 of
this instruction.
L. Snap the front cover on by hooking it over the top of the end caps
and pressing down on the bottom of the cover.
M. Test the operation by raising and lowering the screen. The screen
cloth will feed into the guides when the screen is operated.
