I. INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
3of 13
The Power over Ethernet (PoE) Motor is a low-voltage powered distribution and network-connected motor
that utilizes PoE technology power and control from industry-common network switches.
This motor supports both Somfy SynergyAPI and CoAP Digital Building API protocols and is
compatible with Power over Ethernet Network Switches IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) Type2 (30W) or higher.
PoE motor system quantity is based on managing the number of devices on the subnet(s) available, unless
specific network configurations are in place and managed by an IT Administrator.

USING MOTOR LABELS
Each Somfy PoE motor is supplied with four motor information labels that should be referenced to connect to
motors. The label includes a four-digit PIN code for the motor and will be used to log in to the motor.
These codes will be used for the life of the product.
DO NOT DISCARD THE MOTOR INFORMATION LABELS!
One of the motor information labels should remain on the body of the motor. The other three labels should be
shipped in the packaging of the motorized product, or see below for recommended locations to use the labels.
Suggested locations for the Motor Information Labels:
Finished motorized products:
Examples:
-Attached to the motor cable
-Removeable shade hem bar
-Motor cover
Inside the valance of the motorized product
Work order sheet used in project planning
Product packaging used for shipping
Example above: On motor tube Example above: Shade hem bar Example above: On motor cable
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Gathering and organizing motor PIN codes and motor information from the included motor
labels is very important in navigating through the PoE motor graphical user interface.

METHOD A -Add the PoE Motor Blind Device via SDDP Discovery:
1) In the Composer System Design view, Project tree, SELECT a Room in which a device is to be added
2) In the Items pane, SELECT the “Discovered” tab
3) SELECT the PoE Motor device, DOUBLE-or RIGHT-CLICK to “Add to Project,” automatically connecting the IP
address
4) RENAME the device to the associated location or room
5) SELECT the appropriate Blind Type for the product in the dropdown
6) SELECT the appropriate Blind Movement for the product in the dropdown
7) In the device Properties tab, VERIFY the Driver Information displays “Communicating with the Somfy PoE Motor
normally since…”
Refer to the Somfy PoE Motor Driver Set details located in the device Documentation tab. A Somfy PoE Motor Blind driver is required for each PoE Motor
installed. There are two methods to add a PoE Motor Blind device to a Project, via SDDP Discovery or searching the Composer Driver Database.
ADD POE MOTOR BLIND DEVICE TO PROJECT
V. SET UP
8) TEST operation of the motor
Refer to the Test Operation section of this guide to test the PoE Motor.

METHOD B -Add the PoE Motor Blind Device via searching the Composer Driver Database:
1) In the Composer System Design view, Project tree, SELECT a Room in which a device is to be added
2) In the Items pane, SELECT the “Search” tab
3) In the Manufacturer dropdown list, SELECT “Somfy
4) SELECT the “Somfy PoE Motor Blind” driver, DOUBLE-or RIGHT-CLICK the driver to “Add to Project”
5) RENAME the device to the associated location or room
6) SELECT the appropriate Blind Type for the product in the dropdown
7) SELECT the appropriate Blind Movement for the product in the dropdown
8) In the Composer Connections view, SELECT the “Network” tab
9) In the IP Network Connections pane, DOUBLE-CLICK the Somfy PoE Motor Blind in the Device list
or SELECT the Somfy PoE Motor Blind in the Device list, then SELECT “Identify”
10) ENTER the IP address of the PoE motor, then SELECT “Close”
11) Return to the System Design view, device Properties tab, VERIFY the Driver Information displays “Communicating
with the Somfy PoE Motor normally since…”
12) TEST operation of the motor
Refer to the Test Operation section of this guide to test the PoE motor.
8of 13
UDP ENCRYPTION KEY
1) In the Composer System Design view, Project tree, SELECT a PoE Motor device
2) In the device Properties tab, VERIFY the Driver Information displays “Communicating with the Somfy PoE Motor
normally since…”
3) ENTER the four-digit PIN code from the motor information label in the “Motor PIN from Label” field, then SELECT “Set”
4) VERIFY the Motor UDP Encryption Key displays “*** RECEIVED AND STORED ***”
Each PoE motor holds an encryption key for UDP communication and must have the same key when the project requires PoE Motor Groups, otherwise
the below steps are not necessary. The process of entering the Motor PIN needs to be performed on each PoE motor device.
