28mm Ruined Staircase
B28-RU-013
Please read these instructions fully before starting construction.
PVA or equivalent glue will be required to stick sections together.
Sand paper can be used to gently clean any joints.
A sharp modelling knife will be required to remove sections from the sprue. Please use knives with due care and remember
to cut away from yourself at all times.
During the construction of this model, you may find it convenient to use pegs / elastic bands to hold pieces in place while
you allow glue to dry.
Remove the two wall sections from the sprue.
Glue them together back to back so the edges of the
stonework line up. Once the glue has dried we
suggest you paint all your stonework.
Take the walkway and balcony piece from the sprue.
Glue the walkway to the balcony piece as shown
above.
Take the steps.
Glue them into position with the etched detail facing
upwards.
Take the side and front balcony sections.
Glue the front piece into place, slotting the steps
into their holes.
Add the side balcony piece.
The handrail pieces.
Glue these into place along the balcony and as the
handrails on the staircase.
The balcony support is fored from the pieces shown
above.
Glue the small sections either side of the main support
so the thick ends line up.
Then glue the assembly to the walkway.
Glue the whole balcony assembly to the back wall.
Then glue the floor piece into place, slotting the lugs
on the stairs and support into the corresponding
holes.
Optional: Take the short support pieces.
Glue these into place underneath the walkway.
The finished model.
Painting
The stone sections were sprayed with black undercoat (car primer).
Once the undercoat was dry the pieces were heavily dry brushed with a dark blue/grey colour, followed by a
medium dry brush using a mid-grey colour and finally a very light dry brush with an off-white colour. All these
blue/grey colours were DIY household emulsion (tester pots)
