Introduction
The Clear Voice System 96-Channel UHF Wireless Microphone System is
used primarily for sound- eld management in classrooms. Its 96 selectable channels allow many
transmitters to be used in close proximity to each other, a situation found often in school or of ce
buildings. Even if used in the same room, up to 24 transmitters can be used at one time without
interference.
The system features a professional quality all aluminum case transmitter and receiver with LCD
readouts for instant con rmation of channel, frequency, and battery status. Both transmitter and
receiver are able to use either rechargeable or standard alkaline batteries and the system includes
a convenient intelligent charging stand.
The CVS96 is easy to use and contains many extended functions most microphone systems do
not have. The transmitter can be used with any standard lapel, headset or collar style microphone.
It also has an optional line level input jack that can be used for its broadcast mode (see below). The
transmitter also contains a level control for volume adjustment. The body pack receiver has both
microphone and line level output jacks. This makes it easy to connect to standard microphone
level inputs or to external audio systems that require line level inputs. The receiver also has a rotary
volume control so the listener can ne tune the volume or mute the sound as needed.
In addition to the microphone application the CVS96 supports tour guiding, assisted listening and
broadcasting. Tour guiding is a feature that is used to talk to an individual or a group by use of
a dedicated receiver worn by the listener and a private ear piece. This is especially useful if the
listeners are far away from the presenter, the ambient noise levels are high making it dif cult to
hear, or even if the presenter and listener desire to talk quietly so that others are undisturbed. A
similar situation is called Assisted Listening. In this application, the ear piece is worn by a listener or
student with hearing dif culties. The fourth application is broadcasting. The CVS96 can be used to
broadcast stereo music to a remote speakers or other audio equipment including voice recorders.
The Clear Voice system is “tuned” to the Cetacea Sound Ensemble portable speaker and also the
classroom Astronaut series of speakers. This provides maximum speech recognition by listeners in
voice presentations and maximum listening enjoyment when in the broadcast mode.

1-5 It may be necessary to change the
channel on the transmitter if the receiver
channel is already in use (i.e., if sounds or
static are heard).
If necessary change the channel on the
transmitter. The transmitter has a two-step
channel selection method. First, press the
SET key for ve seconds until the channel
indicator ashes. Then scroll the channels
by pressing the UP or DOWN keys. Press
the SET key again to nish.
Re-verify both transmitter and receiver
are on the same channel.
1-6 Rotate the VOL knob on the receiver
slowly. Stand away from the sound
system as you slowly turn up the volume
on the receiver until a comfortable
listening volume is reached.
1-7 The SENSITIVITY switch on the transmitter
can be used to adjust volume also. It can
also be used to limit volume in cases
where the sound is too loud. Choose
the SENSITIVITY level that best ts your
application. Under normal situations it will
work well with MID selected.
NOTE: For best results when using Cetacea Sound Corp speaker systems, plug the receiver
into the Cetacea speaker before the power supply cord is plugged into the speaker. This will
prevent unwarranted and surprising noises. Once the cable is plugged in, the power supply cord
can be plugged in.
System Pre-Test
1-1 Verify that the ON/OFF switch on both
the transmitter & receiver is in the OFF
position.
1-2 Install rechargeable “AA” batteries in
both the transmitter & receiver. If desired,
use high-quality “AA” alkaline batteries
instead. (Batteries included.)
AA BATTERY 1.5V
AA BATTERY 1.5V
1-3 Turn ON/OFF switch on both transmitter
receiver to ON. The LED at the top center
of the LCD screen will stay on as long as
the batteries are charged. The light on
the LCD screen will come on and then
turn off after approximately 5 seconds of
non-use.
1-4 Verify channels selected on both
transmitter and receiver are the same. If
not, change channels on the receiver to
match the transmitter by brie y pressing
the UP or DOWN keys. There may be a
one second delay after pressing these
keys before the channels can be scrolled.

Tips & Tricks
Do's & Don'ts

Tips & Tricks
Tip: Preventing Inadvertent Feedback
Once you are comfortable using the CVS96 and the Cetacea Sound speaker, here is a tip that
will help prevent inadvertent feedback. Turn the volume control on the receiver all the way down.
Select the LOW range sensitivity on the Transmitter. Stand in an area of the room where you
will be doing most of your speaking. Have someone help you slowly turn up the volume on the
receiver until feedback is heard or the volume becomes too loud, whichever occurs rst. This is
the maximum volume level that can be used in this particular room. Now ONLY use the “MUTE”
switch on the transmitter to turn the microphone down when desired. Leave the volume control
set where it was previously as long as you are in this room.
In the case where the rst adjustment is not loud enough, repeat the same procedure with the
sensitivity switch in the MID or HI position.
Tip: Spend time practicing in the area of the room where you will be speaking. Listen for any
unwarranted noise or feedback as you walk the room and avoid those noisy areas that cannot be
eliminated by equipment adjustments.
Tip: Let your presenters and teachers try out a variety of microphone styles by offering a selection
for them to choose from. In our experience, everyone has a preference. Enabling your presenter
with a microphone that suits her style will not only allow for proper presentation skill development
but also ensure the highest quality presentations and lectures.

Do's & Don'ts
Don't attempt any repairs on your own.
Don't pull or in any way fold, crimp or tightly coil the microphone wire.
Don't plug anything into the receiver jacks except the source you were trained on. If using a
computer for recording, be careful! The backs of some sound cards have powered jacks that
can damage your receiver. These types of failures are not covered under warranty.
Don't use alkaline batteries and then place the transmitter or receiver into the charging base.
It could permanently damage the base or other components.
Do educate all users in the proper use and handling of electronic equipment,
especially microphones.
Do have frequent user meetings to discuss issues and concerns.
Do adjust speaker volume to a comfortable listening level. It should not sound
loud to the presenter.
Do loosely coil microphone wires, when not in use.
