These instructions cover replacing the battery, back cover, board
assembly frame, adding a battery block for the new battery,
switching the label on the back cover, and unit reassembly.
Disassembly and Reassembly
Instructions
1. Remove the four (4) back cover screws,
2. Lift off the cover and set aside.
3. Disconnect the battery and slide out of the b attery
compartment.

4. Remove Main Logic Board (MLB)/display/frame assem-
bly from the case.
5. Remove the five (5) board assembly screws.
6. Disconnect the four (4) flex cable connecters.

7. Slide off the board clips and separate the boards from the
frame.
8. Flip the assembly over and remove the tape securing the
touch panel to the frame assembly and the navigational but-
ton tape tab from the side of the frame assembly.

9. Disconnect the touch panel cable from the MLB and set
board aside.
10. Remove the display/touch panel assembly and discard old
frame.
11. Peel off any remaining adhesive from the CF gasket base.
12. Install the new self adhesive CF gasket (p/n 653-422-001) on
the MLB.

13. Insert the board assembly in the new display frame
(p/n 650-717-001) and reattach the board clips.
14. With the display in place, reconnect the touch panel to the
MLB.
15. Install the five board assembly screws.

16. Using 3M #467 Adhesive Free Film (not f urnished in this
kit) retape the display to the new display frame.
17. Install 3 inches of Kapton tape (p/n 906-016-002) over the
components where the foam block o n the base makes contact.
18. Reconnect the four connectors.

19. Insert the battery block (p/n 714-511-001) into the battery
compartment.
20. Slide in the new battery (p/n 317-107-002) and connect the
cable.
21. Carefully Peel off the part/serial number label from the
outside of the old base cover and attach it to the new base
cover (p/n 650-716-002).
22. Position the new base cover onto the unit and install the
four back cover screws.
