Introduction
The service tool ECA-ST 101 is used for the configuration and setting of your
district heating controller ECL Apex 10.
In this user guide you are given a brief explanation of the possibilities offered by
the service tool ECA-ST 101. The aim is that you become familiar with displays
and navigation principles on a general level.
The service tool is the browser which informs you about parameters, settings,
status and alarms.
Technical documentation for the ECL Apex 10, service tool and extension
modules is available on the enclosed CD or can be downloaded from the
Danfoss Internet site: www.heating.danfoss.com.

How to install the program
Insert the ECA-ST 101 disk into your CD ROM drive. In most systems the install
program will automatically start immediately afterwards.
If the installation window does not appear automatically, run the Install.exe
program in the Programs directory of the ECA-ST 101 disk.
Once the setup program is initialized, a Wizard will guide you through the
installation process.
Installation on PC
1. Choose Install Software on my Desktop PC
Installation on PDA
1. Ensure that you have the “Jeode Runtime” program from Insignia
a. If you have the ECA-ST 101B, proceed with step 2
b. If you have the ECA-ST 101A, install the Jeode runtime program in
accordance with your software suppliers instructions.
2. Connect the PDA to a PC which has installed a synchronization program
(supplied with the PDA)

How to start the program
1. Connect the ECL Apex 10 to the device on to which the Service Tool is
installed.
2. Switch on the supply for the controller.
3. Start the Service Tool:
a. PC users: Choose Programs District Heating Service Tool
b. PDA users: Choose Programs Service Tool
When the program detects a new controller, system settings will be
downloaded. This operation will take a couple of minutes.
4. Choose Direct in the Plant selection
5. Select user level:
There are four user levels ranging from “Default” user (no logon) who is only
allowed to read to “Supervisor” (SUPV) who has the highest authority.
6. Logon:
The first time you enter the Service Tool, use “123” as access code. This is
default from factory and can be used at all user levels until it is changed.
After logon it is possible to operate the ECL Apex 10. Data and settings are
described in the “User guide: ECL Apex 10” and the “Technical manual”.

To get access to this menu you must be logged on as “SUPV. Only as Supervisor
you are able to create and authorize other users and change their access codes.
There are four different user levels:
Default (DFLT)
Readout only. Logon is not required.
Daily user (DAIL)
The typical daily user is the person responsible for the daily operation of the
heating system. The daily user can change operational data, read and cancel
alarms.
Service user (SERV)
The typical service user is the installer or service engineer, who installs and runs
in the heating system. The service user can change more radical settings.
Supervisor (SUPV)
The typical supervisor is the system designer, who has the top-level
responsibility for the heating system. The supervisor has the exclusive rights to
authorize other users.

How to get authorized
Choose “SUPV” in the “Logon to
Service Tool” display and enter the
access code (ex factory the “SUPV”
access code is set to “123”).
Push the configuration button and
choose Authorization.
It is now possible to create and
authorize new users and change
their access codes.

How to create new users
1. Choose »Add« to insert a new user
2. Give the new user a »User name«,
max length 4 characters
3. Give the new user a “User ID”
between 0 and 999, which has not
been used already
4. Choose an “Access code” between
0 and 999
5. Select the preferred “Language”
6. Assign the “User profile” for the
new user
7. Select how the measurement unit
(“Unit”) has to be displayed. End
this session by pushing the OK
button
