Installing a New System
These instructions provide a streamlined process for activating a new security and interactive services
system.
Before You Begin
Before you begin the activation process, ensure that you have all of the equipment and tools you need
and familiarize yourself with this document. The information provided in this document is designed to
help you avoid pitfalls as you perform the activation.
This document presumes you have already physically installed the security panel according to the
standard installation instructions.
Security Panel Configuration Requirements
Install and configure the security panel according to the standard manufacturer's installation
instructions. Program the sensors into the security panel and perform all other security panel installation
steps (such as installing sirens, customizing security panel settings, and so on), as directed by the
security panel manufacturer or security service provider. Keep a list of all installed sensors, including each
sensor's type, zone name, and zone number. This step is not described in this document and is assumed
to have been done prior to performing the activation steps in this activation guide.
Information You Will Need
URL for the Activation Application
URLs for the web and mobile portals
Installer access code for the Activation Application
Master access code for the security panel
Customer's account number (for example, the billing account number; generally, different from
the central monitoring station account number), email address, and postal code
Central monitoring station (CMS) ID, if the site is being monitored by an alarm monitoring service
List of all zone numbers, zone names, and sensor types installed in the security system
Miscellaneous Requirements
One short Ethernet cable (3-6 feet long – for use during IP camera setup).
Power strip, if additional outlets are required.
Paper-clip (for resetting cameras, if necessary).
To prepare for the installation, gather all of the required equipment, tools, and information on a table or
other large surface near the intended location of the security . The other parts of the system can be
located elsewhere on the property.
