This Application Note addresses an issue found with systems that are installed without a
WAN connection to a network reference time source.
When installing the system, a WAN connection MUST be established so that a network
reference time source can be accessed and applied to Xcelerator IP. This connection is
made from the WAN port of Xcelerator IP directly to the internet or via the site LAN with
access to the internet so that Xcelerator IP can establish a connection to a network
reference clock source.
The configuration location for setting network time is found under the Management
section, Internet Time window.
The default for the system primary reference is time.NIST.gov. Additional reference
sources for both the primary and secondary network time reference sources are pre-set
in Xcelerator IP and can be selected from the drop down menus on the user screen, or
you may set your own entry in the primary or secondary reference source boxes.
July 2007
If the administrator chooses Other from the drop down list on either the primary or
secondary reference source list, the administrator will be able to enter a reference
source in the box to the right of the primary or secondary source. This entry will now
become the primary or secondary time reference for Xcelerator IP.
Click on Save Settings to apply the reference network time source setting.
Failure to set a reference network time source for Xcelerator IP may result in one way
speech on inbound calls and system resets.
