Bell & Chime Transformer
Please read these instructions carefully
before installing the Arlec Bell & Chime
Transformer.
Important Notes
1. This transformer is designed for operation
on 8V or 12V output. Do not connect loads
simultaneously to both outputs.
2. The marked output of 1A is not the continuous
current rating. This rating is based on short
duty cycles of operation, as is normal for a bell
chime. The transformer is capable of delivering
a continuous current of 200mA, plus the short
duration peaks of 1A. More than one bell or
chime may be connected provided that the
ratings are not exceeded. Failure to observe the
above may result in permanent damage to the
transformer.
SPECIFICATION
Input: 240V 50Hz 3VA
Output Voltage: 12 or 8 Vac
Output Current: 200mA max continuous,
plus 1A peaks.
Max duty cycle 1 minute on
5 minutes off.
All wiring should be carried out by a licensed
electrical contractor.
Site the transformer in an accessible position as
close as practicable to the bell chime, the push
button door switch and a mains supply.
Four 25mm No.4 self tapping screws are supplied
with the transformer to fix it into position.
1. Remove the cover from the 240V mains
connections by depressing the locking tabs with
a small screwdriver.
2. A knockout is provided on the side of the mains
cover to enable wires to be connected to the
transformer.
3. Switch off the power at the meter box. Connect
the Neutral wire of the mains electricity supply
to the transformer terminals marked N - 240V
50Hz. Connect the active wire through a circuit
breaker or switch (with air gap separation) to the
transformer terminal marked A - 240V 50Hz.
4. According to the voltage of the bell or chime
to be operated, connect the circuit wires to
the appropriate terminals as indicated on the
diagram.
5. Replace the mains connection cover by sliding it
into place over the locking tabs.
6. Switch on the power and check the operation of
your bell/chime.
